I bought this product in the 16 oz size of each the resin and hardener. The resin is clear, but the hardener is camel color. When mixed together it never gets clear no matter how long i mix it. Wondering if it is just a bad batch. It does harden fine. Do you have any idea as to why this is.
Great video. Thank you for demonstrating these differences. I started out with Sculpey III for making Christmas ornaments, but I'm switching over to Premo as my colors run out using Sculpey III. Thanks again.
I bought the brand of pasta machine that Hobby Lobby sells. I don’t think it makes an even thickness. Thank you for this demonstration. I think I will look for an Atlas.
Glad you found this video helpful. I think I bought the hobby lobby/Michael's version and it broke on me. The Atlas pasta machine was reconfigure for polymer clay users and with the removal blades..it's easier to clean removing old clay that may have been trapped.
For faces, you actually need modeling clay. You could do it with Premo, but from those who are into figurines, I believe they like the modeling clay best.
Hi There! I'm glad you like it! You can give it a thin coat if it feels a little rough after sanding. That way your piece has a smooth texture but you can also polish it using a polishing cloth to obtain the same look.
What has been your prolonged experience with you using Limino UV resin? I recently came across it and decided to try it up against a few other brands that I use and I was pleasantly surprised... If the gas is a lot better than most other products I've tried and is very very clear and cures very well, I was just wondering if it yellows as much as others overtime. I also use UV resin from let's resin and that stuff doesn't seem to Yellow at all... I have pieces made over a year ago that are still crystal clear, but it does not Degas very well and is very thick, it's great for doming by the microbubbles drive me crazy... I don't get this with limino...thoughts?
It is a chemical mask to filter the air you breathe. A hospital mask is only good for stopping your breathe contaminate the project. I have worked with industrial chemical on job. Yes but epoxy epoxy
This is amazing! I just bought a pink pasta roller from a kitchen store.... I didn't realise these existed! It'll be about $400 Aud if I were to get one tho, so the regular pasta makers are no good?
Hi! I have a normal pasta machine and I was thinking of removing this part. I already removed the fenders on top. What are those blades for? thanks for your help
The blades scrape the material from the rollers as they pass through. www.pixiehats.com/illustrating-activities/pasta-machine-replacement-scraper-blades/pasta-machine-rollers-and-scraper-blades-working-diagram.jpg Hopefully this image helps.
Wow! very nice. I read about the mask... How people would post comments about not wearing mask. Its up to the person. I do wear mask, if my nose can't handle the resin odor. You're Awesome!!
Thank you. I don't like wearing mask too, My first epoxy resin failed. Hobby lobby products mold and UV epoxy resin... It was sticky, gummy and didn't cure. Took a long time out. I enjoyed watching your video. Thank you
Hi There! I haven't tested this but there's a disclaimer about not leaving finished products in direct sunlight as it may start yellowing depending on your brand or can melt your products if left in a car too long. I may need to test this theory as I live in Texas so I'll let you know.😉😎
Hi There! Are you talking about the Pasta Machine? If so, ED Colors is where I got this from but just a disclaimer....it is a little pricer than the average machines but his machines are cater to us polymer clay artist as we can remove the blades to clean/remove clay with ease! :)
Hey I’ve watched and watched. I want to try and use Uv resin I’ve got the lamp pendants tape all at the ready. I don’t know what uv resin is right to use. I tried epoxy resin so I have all cups measures gloves etc with that but couldn’t get it right all the time. Uv looks so much easier you pour it it and it sets under uv lamp? Pls can u tell me what u would recommend?? Xxxx
Oh how exciting! There's no greater feeling when you get all your supplies and you're ready to finally tackle it after watching thousands of videos. For the pendant/tape project, unfortunately epoxy is not great for those small projects as you have to wait FOREVER for it to cured. For starters, you can use a resin by the company Limino ( I think that's how it's spelled) It was the first brand I started with and I had no issues with it. The label on the bottle will be green (unless they changed). Have fun with your very first project and don't get discouraged. As the ole wise woman would say, practice makes perfect and when all fails....drink wine...:)
Oh I'm glad it helped. This was my first one so I thought I would share my thoughts. I need to get my second one up on the setup but life gets in the way sometimes so I hadn't had the chance to get it up.😊
Omg a full face mask with filters goggles and latex gloves is what they recommend the regular covid mask might get you sick from the chemicals resin poison is not what we want
Did you bake the thicker pieces for the same amount of time as the thinner pieces? I have sculpey III and am trying to determine how I can still use it. Thanks!
Hi! I did. I think it's a good rule of thumb to bake polymer clay for an hour, no matter the brand. By placing something over your clay pieces like a small tin from a pie or piece of copy paper over it, you won't get direct heat on your clay (which can cause burn spots). As for Sculpey III, as I too have plenty of that so mix 1 part to 2 parts premo or any other clay that's a bit stronger. By gosh, I bought that clay so imma use it 🤪😆
Absolutely!! I sometimes use UV resin instead of epoxy to dome if I need my piece to finish sooner and not wait the full 3 days(or more) to cure when using Epoxy.😊
I found out with this brand that the mixing time, the amount of additives you add to your resin such as glitter, Inks, etc... and size of the mold can effect the curing time. What were you making as I would love to test this?
Thankyou for the link Steffy! Nice video! Premo is clearly the winner in this smack down! I am one of the teachers that say not to use SculpeyIII for jewelry, for the exact reasons you pointed out, so was very pleased to see you land on the same conclusion. I prefer not to use it for anything really but rather than throw out the blocks, I will mix it into Premo and at least make it less brittle. ❤❤❤
Thank you and of course! You were the first one I found when I started this journey. Unfortunately, I learned from you after I bought a lot of Sculpey III so as a beginner still learning, I'm hoping to help my other novice learners not make this huge purchase but will share how to use it with others clays such as premo in my next videos! 🥰
So far, I know Limino don't yellow as that's the first UV Resin I tried. I'm new to this brand so I will see if this brand is in that same boat. The product states it has an anti yellowing so I'm using this brand now. I'll keep my viewers posted!😊
