1995 I’m on flying solo to Norway to visit my folks on vacation from jfk. Just so happened to sit next to Wooten on an almost empty flight. Had no idea who he was but he had his bass as a carry on. Talked Hendrix and let him listen to some rare tracks I had on my Walkman. He said he was playing with David Byrne. After the flight he met my dad and told him I was a good young man. My dad has since passed but I remember thinking that it was cool he would tell my dad that. Cool dude
This is the ultimate love song. Oscar Peterson plays it with perfection. I never get tired of listening to it and all its versions. It fills my soul with total peace.
¡Qué maravilla! Es impresionante escuchar cómo Oscar Peterson improvisa, de manera genial, a partir de esta hermosísima y simple melodía. No sé por qué esta melodía me llena de tristeza y melancolía.
his timing is impeccable. ghost notes and empty fills like the best drummer or bassist you've ever heard but he requires neither. absolute one man band
