Yes sir, here is the current status. I have re-mastered the exterior model using my own dedicated mesh. The original Milton Shupe FSX/P3D upgrade will be released as a freeware through CR1 software. My new model will feature the HD interior as shown here, and will be offered through CR1 as a payware. The freeware will have my interior as well, but the payware model will be a much more detailed and comprehensive product with more variants, liveries and high poly modeling for both Prepar3D and MSFS2020.

Basically you made a B-29 on steroids, nice.
@eddieschwab864
@eddieschwab864 2 года назад
He made a rendition of a B-29 on steroids. Boeing built the b-50 Superfortress. If you know you're superforts the winds extend further back with a longer fuselage for the b50 plus it also has the side saddle tanks in the wings. Not to mention it has a taller tailplane for the b50 versus the B-29, and the distance from the wings to the tail Gunner position along the fuselage extend about 10 to 20 ft back Plus it's got thicker armor and the engines on the b50 are front would facing versions of the same engines used on the B-36 Peacemaker. The b50 was not even the cumulative expression of the design of the platform. An up-armored version with a still longer fuselage called the b54 and even greater fuel capacity, internal fuel capacity more than double a standard B-29. Not to mention extended Bomb bay's on both the b50 and the b54 nearly double the bomb capacity of the B-29, which was ultimately essential for carrying the early nuclear weapons before miniaturization became feasible. Plus it was up armored in all of the critical points around the fuselage the only problem was its growing obsolescence with the ascendancy of the jet age. But for lower-level Target engagements such a plane would probably still be useful today, such as putting the hurt on the Taliban for instance. With a B-52 flying at relatively low speed a superfort can run circles around Buff.

I went about rebuilding the data in stages. Recover the scenery, recover any mesh I could find etc. The aircraft required I go about the reconstruction from the mesh up...then animations...then art and so on. It makes the most sense to tackle one format at a time. P3Dv5 and MSFS utilize a very specific structure, then P3D earlier than 4.5 utilize a different structure. Same for FSX/P3D2&3. All of that model is complete and ready for beta. I don't run FSX/P3D3 on my system so I was relying on beta testers from SOH. That all went upside down, so I need to do the earlier releases working backward from P3Dv5...then downhill. All of the models will be available, with the virtual cockpits shown here, for all sim platforms. The timeframe has been disrupted by the events at SOH. Hang in there...

Thanks Denny. Focusing on P3Dv5, and earlier as well. First on deck P3Dv5. The models are built to be MSFS compatible, but the MS SDK only recognizes 3D Studio models back to Max2016. I have Max 2015, but I think Arno will probably tweak ModelConverterX to resolve that problem. I would have to surrender a very expensive license to upgrade my Max, and they only do it by subscription now. That runs about the cost of a car payment, so for right now I'm sitting tight on MSFS and waiting to see what shakes out. Thanks for asking.
@thevirtualcockpit5001

And...yeah, all that scenery is mine. It was actually my first forte'...aircraft came after. I did two projects for ORBX a while back, the scenery in the video is what I have recovered so far, and eventually will be released as payware. I haven't converted any for P3Dv5, but the existing works pretty well. The vegetation is a radical technology, but extremely logical. Not sure where that will land. I had done much of it as autogen, but that was completely lost. Starting from scratch is laborious and time intensive. Once I release the aircraft the decks will be clear to focus on what comes next. Good thing is...I got a lot of options, and quite frankly I got it wayyyy better the second time around. Prepar3D can be made to look extremely realistic, hard to tell from MSFS2020. The Microsoft sim is a great turn key deal for those who like that kind of thing. Nice thing is...there is enormous potential on both fronts. Good for a guy like me.

Funny thing about the ChasePlane camera system...you can get those depth of field distortions depending on your zoom levels. I build all of those POI items like casinos to scale in 3D Studio, so they should be pretty much ballzon accurate. The footprint is satellite geodata, so that is where I start, then use the standard 10' per floor scale for height. You are right though...it looks huge from the taxiway to 16R. Or the fact a KB-29 crew was lost after completing their inflight refueling mission. Lastly, my dad never made a big deal of it, other than it was a pioneering mission that both helped deter the Soviets and later allowed SAC to keep planes airborne 24/7 in the cold war.

@Harry Notwoke Why the hell are you bitching about it? Sure, it's now a small footnote in aviation history, but allow me to have a little pride in my father being a part of it. The primary reason it took place was to show the Soviet Union the U.S. could deliver "the bomb" anywhere in the world without forward bases. It was a "first step" that allowed the later B-47s and B-52s to operate over long ranges. In the days before ICBMs and jet aircraft, it gave the Soviets pause against moving into Europe in the post-war era.
