Finally, someone that has chosen a certain time period and has stuck with it! Everything from locomotives to rolling stock to vehicles, businesses and buildings. Nothing drives me crazier than steam locos pulling intermodals, or SD70ACe's pulling 40' livestock cars. Bravo.....well done!
Thanks for the kind words. I tried hard to stick to the theme. I’ve sold off all my older rolling stock to be era correct. My favorite is, a ‘shiny wheeled’ being pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine! 😂 Happy scale model railroading!
Ole George had WAY too much time on his hands. I built several of his models back when I had space for a RR. This is less about the trains than the environment, and George went all out. I like the tribute to the Gorre and Dapheted at the end (the caboose in the junkyard).
Very observant! Actually, there are three N scale structures located above the street rod shop. A cabin with porta-potty and a forest service observation tower. Nice catch!👍
I really enjoy people that create their own Railroad companies! Q: Why are the reporting marks sometimes DN and sometimes DNLX? I always thought only leasing companies do use an X on the ending. Other than that: Nice layout with lots of details! Also it's somehow refreshing to see a project which is neither a switching layout (like mine 😅) nor a huge double-deck empire, but a "normal sized" layout.
Thanks for the comments. Actually you have hit the nail on the head! DNLX is a subsidiary of the Defiance and Northern. Defiance and Northern Locomotive Leasing (DNLX) purchases older units, refurbishes them mechanically and makes them available to other railroads for economical dependable power. 👍
The heavy bass music ruins it in a couple ways..It covers up the sounds of the trains, is not eastern corridor, NYC, Connecticut, NJ feeling, and is too repetitive. I had to turn it off completely.. Most yellow equipment needs to be toned down greatly with Dulcote or other. There's too much DayGlo-ish yellow plastic; maybe just too many bright yellow objects which call too much attention to them. Otherwise it's an AA1 SUPERB MRR...The catenary work is super duper.. Love the coal loader-to-ship with the gravity car-return incline..The cantilever bridge is excellent !.! Love those GG1s and the boxcab traction !! I grew up in NYC, so all the cars, livery, road names, traction and diesel power are great to see, my being in L.A since 1978...🏣🏭🛤🌞🛤🏬🏠🌳
Why don't rail modelers Dulcote their figures ? Too many times they're left shiny, alla: 1:26, and harm the otherwise great realism of the rest of the MRR..
Yikes ! I'm the last commenter from FIVE years ago watching again ! I didn't even KNOW I was until I went TO the comments at the end of video and saw it and again thinking the same thing during it ! And, again, the camera use was lacking. Plus, the passenger train could have come to a station stop/water tank,..freight in reverse shoving cars into a spur-business. Anyway, the large scale and its superb scenes and trains I'm sure are really exhilarating in person....🌲 🛤🌩🌧🛤🌲🌳
I made a diorama once, when i was young. Once. As a gift. Spent some time on it, too. Not an engine house. A shed for an engine for end of the line maintenance. With water and coaling facilities. Figured since I had no money, I'd just whip something up. Made the shed out of a scrap 2X4 I'd sliced into tiny lumber. I already had rails, ties, landscaping material, etc. Couldn't really wrap it, so i showed up just holding it. One of the Super Karen moms elbowed her way past, knocking it to the floor upside down. Broke most of it. Couldn't be repaired. I didn't say anything, but that woman passed away years ago, and she didn't get any prayers from me that might get her skanky ass into heaven.
You've constructed a time machine. Takes me back to my childhood in northern Idaho every time I watch this magical layout. Should be left to the Smithsonian as a national treasure along with the Hope Diamond. Thanks for sharing your heart.
No doubt that is a fantastic layout. So many details, dramatism in each corner of the scenery. It´s like being there at the epoch. However, my thumbs up are not for such a great museum, that worths visit it, they are for a wonderful video, one of the best I´ve seen in the web. A beauty is a beauty, but man, the eye of the artist through which we see it is amazing!
I went to Greeley with my adult son about 5-6 years ago. I've never seen anything like it before! You can get totally immersed in the multi-level layout that is HUGE! The modeling is top-notch and is an inspiration for the train modeler!! They have a full-size Burlington caboose and a signal when UP trains are passing through town! I highly recommend it !!
In my mind I know this is a model but I wish these places were real! Just looking at the corner restaurants, I can smell the burgers and fries cooking and onions grilling. This is incredible.
