A small contention: the rudder is not really "for turning." Relying on the rudder for turns makes for very bad habits. Take it from me, been there, done that. Body leans, braces, hip snaps, combined with various paddle strokes create skilled turns. Forming a bedrock foundation in that department keeps kayakers from capsizing when crossing eddylines, encountering refracting waves off of breakwaters and piers, going through beach surf, and when navigating rapids. Staying upright requires requires quick, defined braces and paddle strokes timed perfectly. ( body and blade they say ) These skills are gained from practice. Relying on the rudder for turns won't build the skills needed to react on water, which can become suddenly dynamic. Learn braces and paddle strokes immediately when getting a kayak. Ignore the rudder, better yet leave if off for a year or three. Here is a a hypothetical, but common example of why I say this: Lets say your in your Klepper and a large, powerful motorboat goes by with a nasty wake following it. The wake is coming at the side of your kayak very fast, and it's high and steep. You immediately realize using the rudder alone won't turn the bow into the wake quickly enough to hit it straight on. You will be going over if you don't know how to respond when the wake hits the kayak broadside. If knowing how to brace and lean however, nothing has to be done at all except for bracing at the right time for a second as it passes. Knowing and having practiced braces and strokes will let you paddle on in that instance without even changing direction for a moment. If you had to change direction then very hard bracing combined with the correct paddle sweeps with full rudder might save the day. ( or from performing a roll! ) The examples are endless really. The rudder is mostly used for holding a straight line when wind, tide, and current weathercock the bow away from its intended bearing. For instance, if crossing a large lake or ocean expanse and the wind keeps pushing the bow away from where your wanting to go, add however many degrees of opposite rudder to find the correct bearing and leave it. This will help make for a straight course for the kayak, and therefore let your paddle strokes be mostly forward power strokes and not course correcting, (speed and energy draining) strokes. thanks.

I'd keep everything that has calories regardless of time out. Take out the sweet snack foods (energy bars, candy, packages of nuts, etc...) and put them in a pocket. Then I would reseal the MRE with all the stuff that needs preparation because now that it is no longer full of air, the biggest issue is solved. You do yourself a great disservice throwing away any nutrients. These meals were scientifically designed by nutritional experts to be eaten in their entirety for the full benefit. Throwing away that shake mix is very detrimental because it probably made up for the majority of the fats and sugars you need to burn through in field conditions. Note: This all relates to nutrient requirements regarding extended on foot mission sets. If you're using a vehicle (MRAP, car, ATV, etc...), then the weight reduction is basically a non-issue.

How well does MAS Gray match with RAL 7013? Is it a closer match to RAL 7013 than Ranger Green is? Also, is MAS Gray basically brown?

At 1:36, you demo'ed a technique that you said a Marine taught you and you dont like it. That's because youre doing that technique completely backwards. You wrapped it around your leg the wrong way, then mixed it with a completely different technique by making it "S" through your foot. So you tried to mox two different techniques, one of which was backwards.

Just want to say I love this bag. Thanks ITS! It has become my work EDC bag. I love how it stands when full or empty. Love the fidlock closure system. The strap is comfortable in every orientation. The two front sections each fit an Evergoods CAP 1 perfectly. The bottle sections fit a Zojirushi 480ml coffee tumbler and a 19 oz Owala Free Sip perfectly. (Note: once bottles get taller than ~10", you may have to use the upper fidlock to close the bag). The laptop section fits my 14" laptop and 2nd screen with room to spare. Enough room left over in the middle dump section for a GoRuck Wire Dopp for chargers and cables. In the discreet external pocket, I mounted a Maxpedition Entity Low Profile velcro organizer (7" x 5") sideways to hold my phone, wallet and keys.

Thank you so much for this! I'm a truck driver that delivers primarily to Farmers in rural areas and recently took a CPR & first aid course just in case I ever come upon injuries. When I got my IFAK I found this Israeli bandage in there and had no idea what the heck it was or how to use it. Didn't want to open it and contaminate it. This is a great, straightforward, concise video. Greatly appreciated.
