D@mn!! This is my favorite Jody song & video. I love a lot of her hits, but this $hit is 🔥! She's still beautiful! T-Boz told Jody she was errrythang to her. Especially her voice. She said she'd never heard a voice like that before. She loved her & tried to sound just like her. Total inspiration. T-Boz actually did a cover of this.
They didn't have a falling out. They were a label-assembled trio created to promote a disco record made by nameless, faceless session singers. There were two other male leads before Howard made his debut on the third album. The situation with the label was a mess (to say the least) and the money was funny. Even after many global hits the members were of no value to the label, and as history has shown...replaceable, easily. Jeffrey was the first of the most famous line-up to bounce; Jody soon after. Howard recorded one album with Jeffrey and Jody's replacements. Then Howard left and the label cranked out two more Shalamar studio albums. Damn, that was a long ramble. I see yous like the funk. Y'all should check of Jody's "The Way (Pts. 1 & 2)".
I gotta say I'm impressed with where you guys go in terms of which tracks by certain artists you react to. Most reactors probably would have gone for the more obvious "Looking for a New Love" or "Don't You Want Me" or "Real Love". This another great track from her debut solo project.
Man we are just testing out the waters. I wasnt the guy that was all about the big hits. I was the one that liked the different stuff on the album. So i appreciate your response. Lets us know we are going in the right direction
The video is about her feeling the marriage is stale. Theres another guy thats trying to show her the attention shes craving, she's rebuking it. But she ain't a damn super woman. If you dont start showing her some affection, she aint gonna keep pushing him away. But when his partner got shot, he realized life is too short. And he was greatful for the woman he has at home
I went to the concert and it was amazing. Cat was a beast dancing on that stage, Bonnie's vocals were incredible (RIP) and Sheila E's solo was a highlight. The Time was a better band than The Revolution. Miles Davis said Prince outgrew the Revolution
This jam made the latter half of 1989 and the top of 1990 a blast. I had virtually all the remixes that I could get at the time. This was a certified smash all over the place, including here in Barbados for sure!. This was an innovative sound and it came from Britain. Loved the Afro-centrism in the video.
Thank you for this! Def Leppard, Journey and Steve Miller just played on Monday night in my town and I wished I had gone to see them. 😢 I was immediately transported back to high school with this song and I appreciate the ride.
@@faith.s_mom You welcome. I used to have it on VHS and I also have a digital download of it. It is BADASS!!! Especially when Sheila E. steps off the drums and raps while Prince steps on the drums and KILLS IT!!!💯💯💯💯💯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@faith.s_mom It is when they perform, "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night'. Prince did something similar in 1985 when he performed "America" with the Revolution: Bobby Z steps off the drums, Prince puts down his guitar and then he gets on the drums and TEARS THE ROOF OFF THE MUTHA!!! It is on RU-vid and in the background is a Red, Black & Green flag! Prince KNEW what time it was Sis! R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson.
Uhhhhhh yeah NO THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CAMILLE VOICE WAS IN 1986 ON THE TRACK LOVE OR MONEY IT'S ALSO INTODUCED IN PARTS OF EROTIC CITY SLY STONE WAS DOING THAT LONG BEFORE SSONGS LIKE SATISFACTION FROM THE FRESH ALBUM AND ALL THROUGHOUT THE 1971 ALBUM THERE'S A RIOT GOIN ON
The S.O.S. Band - Their work with The S.O.S. Band was their most prominent project in 1983. They produced and wrote several hits for the band, including "Just Be Good to Me," which became a massive success and established their reputation as top-notch producers. Klymaxx - Around this time, they were beginning to work with Klymaxx. While their most significant contributions to Klymaxx's music would come a bit later, they were involved in the production of some of their earlier tracks. Change - Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis worked with the Italian-American group Change, contributing to their album Change of Heart, which was released in 1984. Their involvement in this project likely began in late 1983.
I love this song but the bass need to be lower in the frequency range and the drums needed to be heavier so both bass and drums would vibrate through your chest. 😮😊
NICE! I recall sitting in my bedroom in '87 listening to the former WBLZ 100.3 FM debuting, "Housequake" and it BLEW MY MIND and still does. "Housequake" is like James Brown's, "Hot Pants" on acid - especially with Eric Leeds & Atlanta Bliss' FUNKY Horn riff, the NASTY Bass + Lead Guitar (which is actually a Yamaha synth) line and the distorted double Linn Drum line. If you haven't already, check out the "Housequake: 7 Mins Mo Quake" remix version of the song. Peace and Be Wild.
PRINCE WAS MUSIC!! He was the G.O.A.T!! If you guys watch the signs of the times yall would also she PRINCE take over the drums from Sheila E RIP YOU ROYAL BADNESS💜💜💜💜💜💔
I was so pissed that he only toured in Europe with this album. The concert movie was great but not enough. Lovesexy made up for it but I would have loved to have seen this. I know the movie was combo of European tour footage and things done on the soundstage at Paisley. ugggghhh what a legend
