Tiny Home, Solar, Rainwater Collection, Shed to House, Gardening, Aquaponics!
We improvise, create, build, share everything we learn living this lifestyle.
Biggest question we get is, " Does it work?" Short answer is YES with a plan.
We worked long hours 40 to 50+ per week to save up enough money to pack up and get out of the city
and find a little slice of heaven somewhere reasonably warm that had great rainfall. The idea was to
Go off the grid, make power and grow food. You know, the romantic cabin in the woods idea.
We needed shelter, 16x40 shed to house that could be paid off and
owned in 3 years time
WE Networked with other RU-vidrs that homestead, farm, Garden, Van life, RV,

Boy the heat sure took its toll on you. This year I have had the best garden in four years. It started off slow and then the end of July we started getting the rain and boy what a growth spurt. The eggplant seeds you sent are beautiful plants which are in raised beds. Just started getting blossoms so hoping to get some fruit. The garden leader tomato seeds grew into huge plants (just as big as my San Marzano) which needed staking and tying but are loaded with fruit. I also planted the two rare pumpkin seeds, plant started slow but has taken off in the last 10 days so hopeful there. I am so thankful for the seeds you so graciously sent me Billy. I will return the favor one day. Happy gardening.
@TheWickerShireProject
@TheWickerShireProject 2 дня назад
Yeah seed save. Wash them dry them on wax paper somewhere and throw them in a paper bag in a cool dark dry area. No reason not to seed save. I'll cover a bit about the topic maybe soon as the year whines down. I do plan on a fall planting very soon as we are having very cool nights in the mid 60's now. No more 103F days of swampy hot desert temps.
@Chaucerfaux1
@Chaucerfaux1 3 дня назад
Well for starters good to see you back again. I do feel your pain on the loss of garden life, heat plus lack of water is a major struggle for sure, however just keep planting and eventually youll get where your going. All in all good video you still gomt some really good picks off the vines and plants so nothing is a total wash. Keep up the good work, happy growing and harvesting.

Thnks Cliff! Yeah so long grow season here. I'm setting up for a fall garden. I'll bend all the pot soil back and hit it with some blood meal and bone dust. We'll see what fall does for us very soon. Thanks for the encouragement. I just expected and wanted more from the amount of seeds we dropped. I have many beans saved so our limited supply is fully restocked to a healthy number. We can even package and share with Russ/Nicki John, Eric and Britney and even Gayle our neighbors.

All facts fam!! People think I’m tripping when I say that. As much as we’re dependent on plastic as a society, I can say the plastic pots do much better than the grow bags. Not sure if you’re close a Walmart but they clearancing (if that’s a word) all there gardening stuff. Pots, soil, plant, etc. But, that’s the key, keep growing. Have you succession planted, started some more potatoes or started your fall seedlings? Stay blessed, until next time!! Great job!!
@TheWickerShireProject
@TheWickerShireProject 2 дня назад
2 nd planting is being organised now. Just bummed out so much. I planted so many seeds! Got 1/4 in return. Heat last month did a number on us at 100F to 103F for a few days with high 90's just killed off everything dead. Fall planting is something to look forward to as our season is a long one. get in the 30's mid January so Dec temps can be 50 to 80F here. <- I can grow up into that!

Hey! Thanks for popping in. Yeah we got a dry spell and 90-13 F heat zero rain for a month. Everything tipped. Hand watering did do any justice. I do have a solar drip irrigation system. I think that a small constant supply of water is better than drenching and drying .
@BushcraftFamily
@BushcraftFamily 3 дня назад
What I've learned from using grow bags DON'T unless you install a drip system the roots get too hot and they dry out way too fast and don't put them on the ground because the bugs love them once I switched to buckets I've done much better but you still need to water more that inground. Next year I wont be using grow bags just my opinion.

Hey bud! So yeah in my situation its too dry to hand water man. Pots = anti- flooding. They drain the best! So for my set up this is bad. I will install my drip irrigation. I knew I should of. I had 3 weeks of 90-103F heat and the pots just went on fire. Everything baked to death. I watered 3 times a day. Constant small flow would of been better!

I'm calling it root stock for now. Apple seeds from parent plant will always be a true mystery. Regardless, it can be cut and a true hybrid aged apple branch can be layer and graphed on at a later date for species production. Yeah so about that soup. You do NOT want to get any of that on you. It truly does smell of a septic tank while fermenting out. So the asparagus is a 15 to 20 year plant and pick. Plant your asparagus, 3 years later harvest the first crop and harvest forever for the next 15 + years.
