those speakers look really really nice. do you have the Nakimichi or the other system? Can the stock amp handle the extra power those speakers require?
Super helpful video! I just did it on my LS400 because of a cracked EGR pipe causing a rattle. I’m now getting code “P0401 Insufficient EGR flow”. I don’t mind the check engine light, runs so smooth now it puts brand new cars to shame.
I’m about to buy spacers for my 99 sc400. Have you had any rubbing on hard turns, speed bumps, or maybe steep driveways with using them the past couple years?
First of all thank you so much for this lovely vedio. I enjoyed each second ☺️. I have same car engine with same model . I appreciate the effort you did to make this vedio happen, fixing , filming and editing, it's not easy thing , I really know what's that mean . I have advice to you , and its very important, some times when i start my car ( when its cold ) a punch of white smoke comes like from 20 to 30 seconds, then disappear, not just only this , also I realize the feul consumption is very very bad . I changed so many things , but the problem still there 😢. Finally I discovered that the power steering upper air valve is broken, you can find it directly under the fluid filler ( rezevur) . Also the hose come out from the valve it self going to the air intake was have air leaking ( same spot you mentioned its broken , its very easy to broke. Simply I solve the issue by deleting the valve. Just stick a rubber pieces Inside the hoses and cover the outlet pipes with rubber covers . No more white smoke in early morning, no more insane fuel consumption. i owned my lexus LS 400 now for 18 years and it has 390K miles , around 630K kilometers. And still running smoothly. I am keeping it for ever . Nice thing to do : change the back plate lights with LED ones , it will look super amazing.
Just an FYI, I am an LS400 owner in Tucson. I skimmed through the video, and I recognize Davis Monahan's airplane graveyard anytime! xD I drive delivery trucks, and I deliver there on base sometimes. I drive a 93 LS400 that's a very beautiful car sir! But all of those aircraft on Davis Monathan's boneyard right there can be up and running put back into service in as little as weeks. My seat recliner control does not work properly either, and neither does my power tilt so mine sit's like a bus. I'd love to share some photos of my LS with ya someday!
Hello , i am harry, i leave in France and I have problèm with my lexus ls400 96 ! Many smoge at the back of the car ! Do you k.ow very well this engine ? Thank you 'harry
I took a 10 hour bus ride in late Oct 2021 to get me a 2000 LS400 with 147k miles and drove it right back home. Got her up to 159k now and still going strong. Love the Japanese automotive masterpieces and never letting go of mine. Or my mother’s 93 LS with 100k that I will end up inheriting in a few years. We cherish them. Peace to all the Lexus lovers worldwide.🌎 1UZ for life!☝️
Do you remember what size the wheel spacers where? I have a 97 sc which kinda weirdly has all the same issues yours had (bad tint, shot trunk shocks, leaky steering rack, ect)
You younger guys will bounce engines off their rev limiters because you've grown up with much better built cars and motors. The 60s 70s and 80s cars I grew up driving really looked cool but compared to more modern cars it's like they were built out of cardboard and cheese. Getting even a ten year old 1960s or 1970s V8 and revving it to the redline a couple times could break it. Don't ask me how I know. I have a 1uz now and i know how much stronger it is than those old motors but I still can bear to bounce it off the limiter. Folks say "they don't build them like they used to" and I say "thank $#@% for that!"
Removing the front VCV doesn’t throw any codes? Just leave it unplugged? And did you need to use the small vacuum line that was with the kit? And what did you use to block off the back EGR pipe?
If I recall from back when I did it, I used vacuum line to basically bypass some of the components that were removed. Basically connecting vacuum straight over to other components without the VSV’s or anything in between them.
Nice,,, i got a few questions, 1) how are these fans holding up? 2) when you start your car, do the fans automatically come on? Or you have to switch them on manually? 3) when you turn on your AC do the fans come on automatically? I am planning on doing the same setup,, just wanted to know what I'm getting into. Thanks
I need to do a follow up video on the setup, it’s been a minute. Fans are still doing great, combined with a Koyorad radiator and an overflow bottle. We went through a few different wiring setups, but settled on: primary fan comes on based on an aftermarket coolant temp sensor mounted in the radiator. A small timer relay kicks the second fan on once the first fan has been running for 2 mins. This way the second fan doesn’t run unless it’s needed. I can also manually order the primary fan on with the switch, and the relay timer works the same way. Fans only come on when needed based off of coolant temp, and don’t come on for A/C unless the engine gets hot
Hey man I installed mine everything right including center nut in the front but I’m wondering if u heard a hollow clunk sound in the front end when going slow
