I've been hunting for the right LS400 for a couple months now. Found this one in Tucson, bought a plane ticket and told the dealer I'd be there the next morning. Made the roadtrip back to Colorado Springs, and I am in love with this car! Can't wait to start making it mine and turn it into my vision.

I took a 10 hour bus ride in late Oct 2021 to get me a 2000 LS400 with 147k miles and drove it right back home. Got her up to 159k now and still going strong. Love the Japanese automotive masterpieces and never letting go of mine. Or my mother’s 93 LS with 100k that I will end up inheriting in a few years. We cherish them. Peace to all the Lexus lovers worldwide.🌎 1UZ for life!☝️

I took a flight to pick up a 99 as well. Did a 15 hour drive back. But this one had lower mileage so it’s was well worth it.

I had to drive with a check engine light so I got way worse gas mileage. It’s fixed now so everything is fine but I had to make constant stops to fillup/breaks.

I’m planning on traveling to go get myself a 98 LS400... unfortunately I live in Kansas so the nearest good condition one is 400-500 miles away. Can’t wait to get this absolute beauty of automotive history.

TheRevX You’ll love it! Same for Colorado. Anything near me was severely overpriced. So that’s why I flew out of state, drove 12 hours back and, with plane ticket and fuel calculated in, still saved $2k-$3k compared to similar condition ones local.
@therevx5225

Colorado_Sloth yeah it’s really annoying, but hell anything is worth it for this car. I’m hoping to find a good condition one for around $3-$4k

TheRevX If you hunt you should be able to find in that range. I was determined to have the black interior so I ended up paying around $4300 for mine.

Just an FYI, I am an LS400 owner in Tucson. I skimmed through the video, and I recognize Davis Monahan's airplane graveyard anytime! xD I drive delivery trucks, and I deliver there on base sometimes. I drive a 93 LS400 that's a very beautiful car sir! But all of those aircraft on Davis Monathan's boneyard right there can be up and running put back into service in as little as weeks. My seat recliner control does not work properly either, and neither does my power tilt so mine sit's like a bus. I'd love to share some photos of my LS with ya someday!

That's a really nice ls400, by the way i know someone who drove theirs for 200k miles on regular fuel so it fine to run in on 87.
@elementalcivik
@elementalcivik 3 года назад
Thanks, I still love it! I don’t doubt that. Modern fuels are a lot better than they used to be. But, as someone who wants to get all the life out of this car, it’s worth it to me to give it premium fuel and oil in the belief that then gone will be happier for longer that way.

Never put 87 octane in that beast. It's a four-cam thirty-two valve V8. Designed specifically for 91-93 octane. My 95 has had 91-93 since new 198,000 miles and can barely hear it running. Of course proper on time maintenance is key.

16:22 The windshield been replaced that why its not orignal one Also its my first time seeing that factory green tint on American spec ls400
@elementalcivik
@elementalcivik 3 года назад
Yeah, recently had to replace the windshield again so it’s far from original now. Can’t tell the side windows have the green tint now that I have full side and rear tint on the car. But definitely an interesting tint to those sides and rear glass.
@General-gu8it
@General-gu8it 3 года назад
@@elementalcivik Finally I got to know why your ls400 windows got green factory tint that because evrey ls400 with grey and black interiors got these greenish windows except for the tan interior got the normal windows but in Middle East where I live I saw that every Ls400 there got that green tint no matter wich colour is the interior
@elementalcivik
@elementalcivik 3 года назад
@@General-gu8it That’s cool info, thanks for passing it along! Wonder if it’s just extra heat or uv rejection since the dark interiors heat up more than the tan interior cars.
@General-gu8it

@@elementalcivik I think so to it dose help, and I my self got US spec LS400 with tan interior with normal glass not green once I noticed that it use to get relly hot during day time before I I tinted my car but when I drove Middle Eastren spec LS400 with that green tint I noticed it abit cooler inside and way better for visibility you dont feel like the sun is blinding you in sunny day

Are you truly getting about 28 mpg on the highway? As in, the computer is accurate?
@elementalcivik
@elementalcivik 4 года назад
After doing the math for a bit now, that computer is a bit optimistic. Real world, I get around 26 mpg highway and 20-22 mpg city. That’s with just average driving. If I was super easy on the throttle and “hypermiled” it a bit I think I could get a bit more from it.
@crxracer805
@crxracer805 4 года назад
@@elementalcivik That's actually not bad. 26 mpg will still get you 585 miles on a full tank if you were on a long road trip.
@elementalcivik

CastrejonHDTV yeah, for a fairly heavy V8 sedan, and my occasionally heavy right foot, I can’t really complain about the mileage.

@@elementalcivik I ran into an elderly lady the other day with a 1999 LS400 in beige color with beige interior. I asked her if she is ever going to sell it and she said maybe next year. She's the first owner, local, and the car has only 126k. I gave her my contact info in case she decides to sell it in the future.

@elementalcivik
@elementalcivik 3 года назад
@@zzaaiidd. In my opinion it does! Just depends what you’re after. On the stock suspension it was insanely comfy and floated along, barely was phased by any potholes. But, had a lot of body roll. With the Megan coilovers on the softest damping setting, it’s still fairly comfy, but eliminated a majority of the body roll from it. Made it a lot more confident in turns.
