I have a quicksilver with a $39 annual fee. My limit started at $500. They gave me a $100 limit increase after I requested it in the app after 8 months of on time payments. At 14 months I requested for a limit increase to $3000. They countered with $1500. I accepted instantly bringing my total credit limit to $2100 in 14 months of being with capital one. I took your advice and left a big balance, let it report and then cleared it the following month. Besides that, I used most of my limit every month and paid in full every month.
That wasn’t my experience with AMEX, did the preapproval and they told me I was qualified for the platinum and then denied me after hard pulling. Just an fyi they can and will still deny you after the hard pull
Never keep all your eggs in the same basket. Always have cards with at least 3 banks/credit unions. Always have Visa and MasterCard cards as well as Amex.
I have the Capital One Quicksilver secured card. My credit limit is $200 based on my initial deposit to get my card started. I also signed up for a checking account and savings account. Now, I do have a checking account with a major national bank. I opened a checking account with Capital One so I can transfer money from my primary checking account to my Capital One checking account to make sure my purchases with the credit card is covered. Not to mention I add $25 per paycheck into my Capital One savings. Apparently, my biggest mistake was paying off my balance each time I used my card, which would always come from my Capital One checking account. First of all, my credit card balance was so low that I had to pay off the balance every time I used the card. I didn’t want to earn the rewards which is why I used the card frequently. However, recently, I saw that my available credit usage was not increasing after paying off my balance. I called Capital One and they said I was paying off my credit multiple times a month and my account was red flagged and there was a hold in my payment. I told the rep that I don’t understand how there is a hold on my account when I pay the credit card balance from my capital one checking and also have a savings with them. Apparently, paying off my balance each time I use my card is not acceptable to them. I ended telling the customer service rep that I apologize for trying to be responsible and having the money in your company’s checking account to pay off my card balance each time I use it.
Yet, Synchrony is still partnered with the Waltons club store, (I guess this partnership works because a majority of the people who get the membership continue to pay for it regardless if the fee goes up [for the store's membership program, which grants the Sychrony credit card]), Sam's Club. I think that shows what types of people are usually the audience for either store. Sam's: Usually people who can afford the membership fee and are able to pay off the bills for the card. Walmart: Usually patrons who really shouldn't be using credit and are signing up out of fomo (I'm aware there's probably Sam's and Costco shoppers in this group too, I know since I went there and bought a $230 mechanical keyboard with a different Citi card) (*That card was the double cash card, I think through Sam's card it's only 1% [on other purchases], probably in other stores like Walmart)

I closed All my accounts with Synchrony Bank after they tried to raise my interest rate to 34.99%. And, they wanted $1.99 per month for a 'Paper Fee'. It's literally extortion trying to force me to E-payments. No Way, No How. Goodbye Synchrony forever.
I had 3 Quicksilver cards with one being a QuicksilverOne, I changed one QS to a VentureOne. I may close the QS1 and apply for the Venture X unless I do a product change from the VentureOne to the Venture X in 2025.
I personally think this should go into law, what if someone was in the process in buying a house? Or a job? As you know, some jobs may determine hiring you on your credit score. For example, medical, teacher or law enforcement. Just saying.
Synchrony reduced my Care Credit account last week. Over a year in good standing never late. They reduced my line from $800 to $250? This card was for my dog, my highest balance was around $180. I cannot stand this bank anymore. Done, this is now the 2nd account they did this too. it's too bad they are w/ the Verizon Visa card. Thank you for the video.
Imagine my disappointment. Requested 4 increases, and only received 1. Apple Card went from 2k to 4k. Capital One Quicksilver 10k limit increase declined. Too low account activity BofA Cash Rewards 7600 limit : awaiting letter (assuming declined, as approval has typically been instant) Amex Blue Card $1100 limit : awaiting approval letter All the cards are years old. And my credit score is 760. Don’t assume you’ll be approved because of this misleading video..
Been with Capital One since 2022, was giving a pre-approval letter and applied was approved for $3k on the union plus card, 3 days later they froze my accounts and now waiting for them to determine if I’m worthy for their cards via my bank statements.
I personally went through this. The recency of a bankruptcy will be the first four years. So, the forty eight month clock starts when you file for any chapter of bankruptcy. Do not go by the date. Let's say you filed June 11, 2020. The credit score risk code of BANKRUPTCY TOO RECENT will no longer be a factor when July 2024 comes around.
I got 4 synchrony cards when I didn’t know anything about credit cards and now im afraid they might close them, I’ll probably use them until they get shutdown but never do business with them again if they close them
For me, my issue with Capital One is the ridiculously high interest rate. On all cards I have with Cap One the interest rate is over 30%. Sorry Cap One but I'm so done with you. Just cancelled my lowest credit limit card.
