Season 5, Episode 8: Shawn 2.0--Declan Rand's interrogation Declan: Could you check that Kurt is alright. Because I know that he and that guy from Crowded House are up to something Shawn: Neil Finn? There´s no way we are missing that
I discovered Psych via fanfic, so when I saw he kept saying "I've heard both ways", I thought 'omg, is he hard of hearing or something, like me?' because I also get a lot of words wrong, only have ample vocabulary because I love reading, but 🎶I've heard it both ways" 🎶
I'm a huge Psycho, and I didn't know the musical existed until recently. I already knew they could all sing. I started with Mary then Liam. Jimmi Simpson is great in every scene I've seen him in. His performance in the Musical just floored me. If nothing else, the fact that he's full blown racketballing.
My Favorite is Johnathan Jacob Jingly schmidt. They used to share the name but Shawn changed his due to all the people shouting, when he went out. Black and Tan is my second.
Well in the podcast with Maggie and Timothy, James said he talked heavily with Steve Franks when they first met after his agent found the psych gig for him, so Steve believed heavily in James so he was basically chosen from the start
So true! Yet amazingly, USA Network offered the role of Shawn to Matthew Perry, who had recently finished "Friends" and was a hot property at the time. Steve Franks wanted James from the start, but the network hoped to land a big name actor to get attention for the series and the network. Let's all be glad that Perry-as-Shawn never happened and that Steve Franks stuck to his choice! Source for the Perry story: James himself. He revealed it on Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson's podcast "The Psychologists Are In" in 2021.
And the only time when talking to a convicted murderer where shawn was supposed to give him a fake name for gus he totally sold him out gave his full name to the murderer looking kill them
"Question?" "Regarding the whole Mary thing." "My father's name is Mary, his father before him was named Mary, his father before him was named Craig." "Fair enough, proceed."
This episode really made the show one of my favorite shows ever. It could have been the John Hughes movie love, 80s infusion, Dulé and Rachel’s She’s All That commonality, but I think it was how they spelled out how much Shawn loves and respects Gus that really makes it special. Shawn’s speech really solidified how special this show was.
