I remember! Thomaz! Do you remember the evening Kenneth choreographed the In Paradisum section of Requiem? I have never forgotten it! As we arrived for rehearsal, he was already working with the four principals on the intro. Later as he got nearer to the final big entrance from the back, I was standing around near Marcis, and he was squirming something awful. We all assumed he was to enter, leading us, as the Christ in Paradise. He kept muttering things like “this is absurd” - “ I can’t do this”… those of us nearby tried to assure him, but he couldn’t let it go. Finally, the moment came and word reached the front of the studio, that Marcis felt an overwhelming aversion to portraying the impossible! Only recently, 50 years later, has it occurred to me, that the In Paradisum satz was conceived by MacMillan BECAUSE we had Marcis in the company - an artist who looked the part and had his stature, depth and experience. I wonder, now, what Kenneth must have felt that evening, in front of the entire company, with his Christ refusing to complete his vision!! I still recall how shocked the young me was personally, to witness an artist I loved so much, stand for his own aesthetic in the middle of Kenneth’s delicate creative process! I’ll never forget the feeling the gentle tension that permeated the studio, while everyone whispered and discussed possibilities. Eventually, someone came up with the idea of us following a light(which by the way, looks far too defined in this video). Today, viewing this trailer, I felt thankful to Marcis on behalf of all the future dancers who were never required to fill that pool of light! Love you all!
I saw Tamas Detrich dancing at Teatro Colón a lot of years ago. The Sleeping Beauty in Marcia Haydée's version. It was a wonderful ballet! And he was a real Prince, in all senses. Loved it!
C'est supérieur ! Bravo, incroyablement vivant, vous transmet votre intérieur je peux le ressentir, merci pour votre intérieur beau que vous l'exprimer avec votre corps ! Merci bendiciones
The "good old" Mozart deserves a better lighting assistant, IMHO. In general, supreme "Gesellschaft" (lol). Hunger and lightning make everything exciting (humorous attitude towards the piece detected and approved, no offense).
To me it is like self-reflection, like: "What am I as a classical dancer?" There's this self- ironic, tragicomic humour, beauty and perfection beside childlike pathetic sillyness - I like this piece :)
