Greetings from Olympia, WA, USA! So happy to see the Stuttgart Ballet as part of WBD. I had the pleasure of seeing Marcia Haydee and Richard Cragun to Romeo and Juliet and Taming of the Shrew in NYC years ago. It was unforgettable. For a first rehearsal I think they did wonderfully well.Beautiful pas de deux. Hope they put it on DVD! Danke!
The balcony scene by R&J is so superb - and these dancers are rehearsing together for the first time. They have everything, technique, emotion, and the director, Tamas Detrich, so kindly gives small corrections. I remember seeing the Stuttgart when they visited NY in the 80's, and their major dancers were Richard Cragun, Marcia Haydee, Egon Madsen and Birgit Keil. R&J, Eugene Onegin, and Taming of Shrew enchanted me then, and R&J does now in rehearsal - though I'm more familiar with the Royal Ballet's MacMillan choreography. Cranko was a great choreographer, too soon lost.
