My Grandma and Grandpa used to live in that post office. Last name Graychuck. We held her funeral in that church some time in the mid 80's. I remember it being in okay shape at that time.

At 7:25 you show Ponteix Health Care Centre and asked about additional area, I know that in this complex is (as of 2023) a facility for the aged Foyer St. Joseph where I performed last summer. Elliott Barraclough will return, September 19 about 2ish. Everyone I went to school with at College Mathieu was known to them.. not only Ponteix, but Ferland, Mankota, Cadillac, Val Marie, .. and sing, my how they can sing.... check out my videos on RU-vid if you can't make the show.
Decades ago I visited Herschel. There was a hotel/café at the north-west corner of Main Street. At the south-west end of Main Street was a bar/tavern which had 2 entrances, one for gentlemen and the other for ladies and escorts. I hadn't seen that before. I wonder when the homes et cetera on East Street disappeared. Has anyone worn a Herschel backpack?😊
Thank you so much for showing my beloved town of 60 years ago! Some buildings were recognisable ; naming the streets and giving the history were so helpful. Now I am in Ireland (Glenstal Abbey) but Foam Lake often comes to mind- and the leisure at the lake. Renewed thanks!
I went to that school in 86. I sometimes drive through that town just to check it out. I was sad to find out that they tore the elevators and school down, last operating one room School in Saskatchewan. The piano was so old it had Ivory keys on it😅.
Thanks for this. I lived here for a few years in the early 1980's and commuted to work on the oil rigs in northern Alberta. I was hoping to spot my house, but it appears gone, perhaps by the cited tornado, perhaps by the town itself. Seems like a lifetime ago now.

Where can I find a written history (perhaps during Centennial Year 1967) about Medstead, Glenbush or Cater? My grandmother may have been the post mistress around 1912. My grandfather and great-grandfather homesteaded at Cater. I'm looking for more family history. Thanks.
I know it’s been four years l got a cabin there. but you should go back and make a new video. that trail from the old rail bed that goes in the bush a 0:53 goes to the river and follow the old rail bed instead of turning there’s the old train bridge. They called it reserve because this is where they had to fill the steam engine with water going to Weekes from Stugis.
Do you know which store had a meat counter? I have a newspaper clipping from Devils Lake, North Dakota that indicates that my great-grandfather owned a meat counter in Kisbey in 1911
My Dad was born just north of here in 1924. Their homestead was on an unmarked dirt road just a couple of miles north of hwy 18. In 1932, My grandpa planted a crop three times and it got blown away three times. He decided that was enough, and in October of 1932 moved the family with five kids to some land just west of Darwell, Alberta, which is about an hour west of Edmonton. In honour of the 100th anniversary of his birth, I will be cycling from Edmonton to Val Marie and back in July of 2024. I've been to Val Marie before, but it will be great to see the place again, and get a real sense of what it was like to live in that area, since I will be camping along the way. Thanks for the video!
My parents worked and lived on Dick Felskie’s farm on the highway. We took the school bus in to Simpson. In 1964 when my Dad’s Dr. told him he could no longer handle farm labor we moved into town. The house backed on to the fairgrounds and was across from the elevators. I don’t remember much about the town. I remember that big old high school next to the elementary school. My Mom worked in the grocery store. We moved away on 1966. Approximately 1984 we drove by the Felskie farm. My parents were friendly with the Garners. I can’t remember the other neighbouring farms. It was interesting watching this video. We used to drive to Watrous and then Manitou Beach.
My grandparents had their farm close to Clair. I can remember going to the Co-Op with my grandpa to drop off containers of fresh seperated cream there. My mom's parents lived over in Naicam. I also remember going to Quill Lake to the Dodge dealer for service on the old Fargo pickup truck. Thanks for the memories.
