Very interesting to see, and I hope to visit Kendal at some point before long. My maternal grandparents emigrated to Canada in 1924 and made Kendal their first home for the next four years, moving to British Columbia in 1928. Thanks to your efforts (and others on RU-vid) I can at least see what their first community looks like today, though I imagine it was a little bit larger back when they called it home.

The ‘30s were not kind to Most Saskatchewan communities, Kendal no exception, tho I believe the population peaked in the mid ’60s. It is unlikely that your kin would recognize the place today. Sad. I didn't get to mention that, besides contributing hockey and baseball players to the Village's sports rosters, the Assiniboia people of Carry the Kettle just north of Kendal (and Montmartre) saved the early settlers from extinction during the first few winters of colonization, supplying them, teaching them. Old Carry the Kettle himself invested himself deeply in the new-comers' survival. As well, the Assiniboia partook in the economy of the community by supplying firewood and fence posts and hay, and buying what they needed from stores. That commerce was scrutinized by the DIA for Decades and not unseldom did the Dept interfere, requiring that a transaction must be scupper'd. Thanks for watching and writing, Darryl.
