Bluegrass (primarily banjo) instruction and discussion from the North Georgia mountains.
The banjo is my favorite. I decided to take it up in early 2018 after hearing Foggy Mountain Breakdown. I am self-taught on the banjo. Not far behind banjo are guitar and mandolin, I really enjoy both of them. I also play the fiddle and bass, but the other three are my primary instruments. Playing these instruments is one of my favorite things to do and I wanted to share the things I play. If you enjoy my content I'd love to have you as a subscriber! Thanks for watching!
I just got a Gosila and I started looking at the Ibanez similar to yours and they are very similar. I am happy with the less expensive Gosila, frankly I was surprised at the sound.. As I am a beginner I am going to get a cheap banjo for learning simply because the Gosila is too nice... Gosila has another model that is the least expensive they offer. It costs half of the price of the model I recently purchased from them, so I think it would be the perfect Beater Banjo.
Hi Mason, I recently purchased a 60's Beltone Irish tenor 4 string banjo and I'm very excited on learning. Since I also play guitar, the banjo seemed relatively easy to learn..Cheers mate.
I’m not complaining and I really do appreciate this gentleman for sharing his knowledge in how to play that song on the banjo, but for some reason, it doesn’t sound exactly like the rendition of the original on the Beverly hillbillies TV show theme.
The name of the band was the Dillards. This is probably one of the easiest songs to learn that Doug ever played, even as he played it. The C and the D (arguably D7) licks as you have done them are completely incorrect, and the correct way isn't hard. The issue being that the C and D licks as they should be, get used, and are unavoidable, in most of the other well known tunes the Dillard's did, ie Doug's Tune, Dooly, Old Home Plate etc etc etc. I commend what you're doing, and you're doing a great job but this song needs work as it is almost elementally, the building block to learning Doug's style..
I know all about the Dillards… There are many different versions of basically every song in bluegrass. This follows the same chord progression and basic melody, it’s not a copy of how Doug played it nor does it claim to be
I have already learned a lot by watching your 5 banjo songs video, I really want to learn those fast multi note riffs you do on foggy mountain bd Thank you for posting ❤
Yea, the less expensive one has a ring behind the notes that seems to make them blur together. The more expensive one doesn’t ring and each note is clearer
