Welcome to the Curious Cat Bakery RU-vid channel! I'm Natalia Lima , the owner of Curious Cat Bakery, an all vegan bakery based out of St. Petersburg, FL.
People come to me all the time with their questions about vegan baking so this channel is aimed at sharing my secrets so you can veganize your favorite recipes at home, bake anything without eggs and dairy and avoid all the pitfalls and disasters I had along the way!
I've written 5 vegan baking cookbooks, led vegan baking classes, and been featured on national and local media including VegNews, NPR, and The Tampa Bay Times.

I saw a mixer advertise as one on sale. On there app. The pice was steep. When I got it delivered. The only thing in the big box wasn’t a kitchen aid. So I thought dam I was wrong. I that box was a better. So I took it back to the store and got my money back
So I haven’t had real fish in over a decade but to me it tasted reeeeaally close to it. The texture was pretty crazy. If I had had it at a non vegan restaurant I would have been worried.
Ah that is a tough one! I don’t specialize in GF baking but all my cake recipes here on the channel can be made the same way with a 1-to-1 gf flour. I like bob’s red mill the most. I also have a lemon lavender cookie recipe with almond flour that’s naturally gf. Hope that helps!
Unfortunately this video didn’t exist 9 years ago, so I went through a lot of trial and error. Thanks for reassuring what I’ve already been able to learn over the years on top of the new advice like using fresh baking powder and the recipes :)
Hey Natalia, @CuriousCatBakery I’m really interested in opening my own Vegan food booth at the St Pete farmers market and was hoping to better understand the process and any tips you might have. Would it be possible to get in touch? Thanks again!!
I loved seeing the behind the scenes and all the chaos of what could go wrong with owning your own bakery. That croissant with the cookie looked delicious 👍🏼
I spent $799.00 before taxes and handling shipping and I don’t know how to make bread and now two years I know how to making bread and I love my apple green kitchenAid professional 5 plus Series and every time I pulled my out to make my dinner rolls and a m falling in love with my color machine.
I absolutely love my kitchenaid. I have the blue velvet pro 600 7qt. I’ve never had any trouble making double batches of various dense doughs and I haven’t run into any of the shaking and walking across the counter that people talk about with the artisan tilt head. I will say that like she said it’s a tiny bit inconvenient to add ingredients with the mixer head in the way but their is an attachment that kitchenaid sells with a funnel that makes pouring and adding ingredients much easier. I highly suggest the pro. The one I got was refurbished by kitchenaid and i’ve had it for 4 years and i’ve never had a single problem. Some people complain about it being noisy but I guess because i’ve only had this one it’s not noisy to me. It’s actually pretty quiet. Much quieter than my vitamix or my kitchenaid hand mixer. It’s silly that people expect an appliance with a motor to be silent. It’s asking for too much. Also you typically have to run it long enough for the sound to be a problem. At least i never have.
I was checking my spam folder for something else and found the notifications that they had asked for more information. Lesson learned: check your spam folder often!
Yes! To all of this but especially the social media part. I think social media outlets are going to realize that they’ve pushed some of us too far. Enough is enough. I posted my first reel for my bakery in MONTHS today… I got 3 views in the first 3 HOURS… I think now almost 8 hours later I have maybe 10 likes. Social media is the biggest waste of time anymore. I got burnt out and I’m over it! I lost menu and important info but besides that I’m DONE!

Well, I’ve learnt something today! I’ve learned that the KitchenAid I have sitting in the box downstairs DOES NOT HAVE A LIFT HEAD! 😝 mine is professional one (in U.K. it’s called professional, but in USA it’s called “Commercial”, I believe). But it is even more professional than then one you showed as instead of plastic cover it has a lifting cage guard that looks like American football helmet 😂 and it has a big red emergency stop button on the side of it. A shop that specialises in frozen food, weirdly on occasions has something else - like LazySpa or a KitchenAid. And they were selling selling a £950 ($1000ish) KitchenAid for £199. And they also allowed to use voucher codes on them. Not just one voucher, but literally stacking the vouchers, bringing it down to £170 for a brand new kitchenaid professional/ commercial in red 🥹 I wanted a KitchenAid for years, but in the U.K. they are a lot more expensive than in USA with the cheapest one going for approximately £500 ($633) when on full price. (Currently at -20%, which is £400, which is approx $506) and that’s for an Artisan model. Actually, I just looked and I found that our smallest mixer is slightly bigger. We don’t have a 3,5 quart mixers. Our smallest is 4.3 litres which is 4.5 quart, and that one is currently on offer of £360 from £450 ($456 from $570). And still Farmfoods’ price of £199 pre voucher codes beats it massively. Funny thing is, Farmfoods had different models of KitchenAid, and all Artisan, Mini, and Professional were priced at £199. However, difference in price if buying from KitchenAid or catering website is double or 2,5 times more. I am currently in process of reorganising my kitchen to make space for this huge KitchenAid “football helmet” 😂 Funny thing - someone posted the “KitchenAid in Farmfoods at amazing price” on HotUKdeals and everyone started running around buying them like crazy. Got one myself from Farmfoods that is 5 mins away from my house, and there was another one left. Got home and then thought that I’d like one for my mum, returned to get it and they said it was gone pretty much after I purchased the first one. Then a week later my son goes to get some icecream and calls me from the shop telling me that for some strange reason they have 1 more standing, though this was literally 10 minutes before they close and there was no time for me to send him the vouchers, so I just told him to get it at the “full” £199 price (for a £950 KitchenAid mixer!). So, mum is getting one after all 😅
Kitchen aid are not what they use to be, they sell junk mixers now with crappy motors and still charge a small fortune.. They are not worth the money for the units and their overpriced accessories.. Most of their money goes towards paying "influencers" to say their products are good when they are not.. People getting tricked. They use to be a good company but they sell trash products now.
I didn’t go to Arezzo specifically but we did go to the Tuscany region and I’m sorry to say it was a lot of the same. Lots of gluten free options but very little in the vegan department ☹️
