I don’t think I have ever watched a program that John chatterton was in that he actually found out why a ship sank, it’s always speculation with him, useless guy, it’s probably why he fell out with Ritchie collar…

I have a shell casing from the USS Meredith, a souvenir of a trip to Normandy many years ago. It was for sale in a museum of underwater relics of DDay.

My grand father was on HMS Capel, which was sunk by the same uboat that sank this ship. As he was on convoy duties and was sank days later, luckily being only 1 of the few that survived. Never spoke of these events

May have had it's mooring line cut by a sweeper then sank by rifle fire. Or leaked and sank. But I would bet a five dollar bill to a french fried dog turd it's live.

for us in modern times, this is a beautiful scene or a museum of the sea but for those involved in this conflict a heartbreaking scene in which the same close friends in this battle have fallen at the bottom of the sea. RIP for all of them, amen

My father was on that ship. He remembered being rescued by Brits I believe. They were sitting ducks for artillery. He was a demolition man with explosives tied to him . He said when they got to the beach they had to take dry cloths and boots from the dead. He had to get a German's boots since they were the only ones big enough to fit him. Told me how they would wait for the ships to slam together then as they moved apart, men would scurry across the net between the two vissels. I believe he said all on board that were alive made it off.

Nice song but I’m more interested in the anchor, after seeing several videos of losing anchors I wondered about the retrieval was generally possible and approximately how much would it cost to retrieve such a large heavy item. Does anyone know how much it would have cost too replace it with a new anchor and chain, obviously more than a salvage job that’s for sure, unless said lost anchor was at the depths of the likes of the Titanic. Then it might be cheaper for a new one. Loved the video keep dry and the deck side facing up.

Hello everyone. My uncle Robert D. Lowe was on the USS Susan B. Anthony when it was hit and sank in 40 minutes. He was an army paratrooper and is 95 years old. He would like to talk to other WW2 vets that were on that ship the day it was hit. My email is jponce50@hotmail.com Thank you.

Thank you for this account! My Father in Law, USN Machinist Mate 1c, Dad to 2 sons, Grandfather to 4, served on the Susan B Anthony & received a commendation: "Commended by the Commanding Officer, 7 June 1944, when the USS Susan B. Anthony (AP72) was sunk by an enemy mine in the Seine Bay off the coast of France, he remained at his station until all troop passengers were evacuated. Under hazardous conditions, he conducted himself in a manner altogether in keeping with the highest traditions of the Naval service. /s/ Thomas L. Gray, Cmdr., D-M, USNR
