James Barralet was a professional musician until 2019, when the tinnitus he has experienced since 1998 became too severe to continue. Hope you enjoy this archive. Arrangements are still for sale at www.jamesbarralet.com
RU-vid sometimes finds me the most extraordinary content. This short film is one of them. I was trying to imagine what severe tinitus must be like for a performing musician - having constant nagging distortions must be awful. Nevertheless, your playing of Bach is quite marvelous. I fell in love with classical music aged 7 as a choir boy and have loved it for all of the intervening 57 years. I always think with the solo works for cello and violin that there is an esential intimacy to them which is not served by presentation in large concert halls. Somehow the more projection required the less convincing the performance becomes. Your approach to this music is deeply felt, thoughtful and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Bellísimo Bellísimo. Emociona.Fantástico Cuarteto que viajen por todo el mundo ..para sensibilizar las almas de la humanidad .GRANDIOSO DIOS POR DARNOS MÚSICOS LLENOS DE DONES COMO ESTOS CHELISTAS. Chile
This magnificent music was played in ICH KLAGE AN 1941...a Kleenex required film, very sensitively made in Germany and banned for a while after 1945 BUT a masterpiece ! Even now, some would have it censored.
Your story is truly inspiring. Met you and Caer briefly by the Canal last week and you mentioned the idea of a cello/voice busking collaboration. I would love to follow this up. I have thoughts for projects involving dance groups I'm involved in as well if you would be interested. Is there a way I can contact you to talk more? All the best!
Still one of the best performances of this splendid work but interrupted in the middle of movements by idiotic ads no one wants to see in the middle of Mozart's music! Please get rid of them - before if you want, but NOT in the middle!
I have recently been learning this piece by playing along with her using my speaker system. What a wonderful way to learn - play along with the masters. The tone gets into my head, the techniques, timing, phrasing, dynamics, everything. It is a game changer. In a matter of weeks, the change has been phenominal. Thanks Katy - gonna marry you!!!
Pianist acting like he is to die of St Vitus' dance any minute now. No need for such over-acting, at the contrary. All else very fine, woodwinds cheerful and correct and harmonious, and the horn indeed wonderfully balancing at the edge of not being a real genuine woodwind :)
