When stacking, instead of the left side player moving to the right and the server coming across, would it be better if the left side player started off on the right-side court and just step on the court after the serve? It seems less confusing to me but I don’t see it much. Is there a reason why it’s not done more often? Thanks so much for the video! Great tips!
This is definitely a preference. One thing about stacking from the outside of the court that is beneficial is that the person at the kitchen line does not get into the line of vision of the player hitting the return.
Nice vid! It would be nice, though, to see the whole court when you’re driving so we can see where the ball is going and how the other side reacts. Cutting to the other side, it’s harder to tell the context of the whole play. If that makes sense. Love your tips!
For tough deep serves is it better to drop or drive? I like the advice about driving with the higher contact point… what about backing up to let the ball drop to hit a better drop? Bad court positioning after that and hitting a drive would have set up a shorter 5th?
Yes it really depends on the situation and your preference. I personally might drive the first one if it's a really deep return hoping to get an easier 5th.
CP and AT, Thanks so much for the great content and showing us actionable drills we can work on! Can you make videos on serve, returns, and dinks too? 😊
Thank you so much! I have been wanting to make a video covering this exact subject. You saved me a lot of time!😅 One minor note... When you mention that you don't necessarily have a string attached, you actually did demonstrate that the two partners should both have slid left to the other respective lines, so they were still approximately the same normal distance apart. One other element that I might suggest... When a ball is near a sideline, the person covering middle can rotate their hips a little bit so they are a little more square to the ball versus perfectly parallel to the net.
Thank you for the great tutorials! You two are very good with pointers and explanations. Most of the time I get bored with PB video tutorials because they’re too long explanations or boring. I love the way you get to the point and just do it! Love your bloopers too!,, ❤❤❤❤
When you moved over and were on the opposite side of Athena (when you were making the most errors), you were stepping with your right foot instead of your left. When you demonstrated it at the beginning, you said to step with your left and hit it in front of your right. So, is it best to step with your left for forehands and your right for backhands, or is there a different rule of thumb?
@@CatherineParenteauPB haha, okay. I definitely understand doing what works best for you, but let's say you are teaching someone new. Is it best to step with the opposite foot? So assuming righthandedness, left foot forward on the forehand and right foot forward on the backhand? Or do most people step forward with the same foot on both forehand and backhand?
Thanks for these great tips for an offensive lob. I would love to see a video on the best strategy for retrieving an offensive lob. I've been taught to do a drop shot if possible. My question is where do I go if my partner is retrieving the lob? Do I stay at the kitchen seeing she's going to drop the ball? Or do I go back with her? Thanks for considering this for a future video!
One of the best and most educational pros on the tour! Thank you for all the videos you’ve made, you’re really an inspiration for the people who watch you
Excellent video. Far be it from me to “critique” Catherine the Great 😊, but she didn’t seem to be following her own instruction. She was hitting off her right (back foot) and falling back on several of those drops she missed. I love her personality. So fun!
This is to get people started with the technique and drills for the third shot drop. When I drill it's a bit different and I practice shots a little differently. Its perfectly fine to critique me, maybe thats why I missed all those drops at the end 😂 Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video! ☺️
Such a wonderful video with insightful tips! I am curious how or if one changes anything significantly with a 3rd shot when the ball is hit much harder and with spin.
If the ball is coming harder I would recommend changing the speed of your follow through. If it's harder, you need to slow down your swing path and shorten your follow through!
Repentigny : Merci à vous deux. Je vais pratiquer cette façon de faire des "3rd shot drop" c'est génial.... et merci pour les bloopers 😂 c'est rafraichissant, j'adore.
Love 💕 all the tips CP & A, glad you did not edit out failed drops 😂I’ve been working on this shot for about a year and still have not mastered the shot, meaning I can hit it 95% of the time in a game.
