Hero 11, with adjusted shutter speed settings and a ND filter… I have a video on my channel that has a link to the setup video I used in the description. For the mount, i used the dango designs chin mount in this video
Thanks for posting all your content from d36, it's really appreciated. I've been racing down here in d37 desert for about a year and am going to be up sunday for this race. Super excited to ride some organized practice out there and try to stay upright. Should be great conditions I can't wait! Hopefully can get some more laps in monday or just hit georgetown on my way to sacramento
Kyle, when you get slightly sideways in the air, like at 13:51 , is that you whipping it or does the back end just drift unintentionally? That scares me when it happens -- I'm trying to learn how to correct it.
This video was filmed with one of the original maps. My current setup is way better (and sounds way better lol). I run the medium compression head, ECU reflash, and IRK mod. I have a couple youtube shorts and videos posted with my current setup. It has turned into my fun bike tho instead of racing as of recent
No, it’s turned on.. that’s just how rough it was at the end of Day 1 😂 I do film in 30fps which helps give it a natural choppiness instead of the feeling of a drone flying through the woods
@@KyleBoardman I noticed with stabilization 2.0 on it definitely looks like a drone footage. I use 1.0 but 60fps, I'll have to try 30. Thanks! Good riding!
Still trying to figure out the best settings for racing in the woods with the constant change of lighting. So yes, some parts of the video are too bright, I'm well aware lol
There is not much you can do about the change of light going from woods and open areas I call it flicker. The GoPro and probably even the RS and Osmo action camera are programmed to adjust both the shutter and aperture to get the best lighting possible. You can’t go totally manual on your settings like you can on a high end camera and even my mid range Canon R8 in video mode I can’t lock in a fixed aperture. Your footage is consistently the best POV out there.other than mounting the camera on your helmet your chest mount is about as good as you can get the cameras sensor is just trying to keep up with the conditions as you are riding. Keep up the video it’s good stuff.
@@outdoormedia77 Yeah I use a custom shutter speed instead of auto to give the motion blur effect, then use ND filters to help tone down the exposure. I typically like to run a more tinted filter but it makes the woods super dark. This is my least tinted ND filter which makes the sunny sections extra bright so trying to decide what i like better lol
@@KyleBoardman The only other way I see as trying to edit that flicker is in post production. You would need to chop those clips down to where the lighting changes and tweak the settings in editing, kind of tedious and no guarantee it would look even better. I kind of like the flicker on this kind of video because it shows just how fast you are going that the cameras sensor cant keep up. Probably if you took the NT filter off it might be more consistent lighting but then you loose that great color you get.
That hill seems undoable even in the best of conditions, have tried 1/2 dozen times if various conditions..... --> @3:40 The rut seems to indicate others are making it.....
I made it, just turned the camera off after the exciting part to save battery lol. It’s a fun hill but the rut keeps getting bigger every time i ride there 😂 so trying to make lines around it without getting smothered in poison oak
Great video, the creek crossing at 7:30 was the end of my day. You paused and went left, I unfortunately went straight and drowned my motorcycle and hydro locked it. Waited for hours for sweepers until 4 guys joyriding behind the race stopped and helped with tools enough to get seat and tank off but nobody had that special 350 plug wrench. After another hour or so I reluctantly tried starter again and she rolled over so I was able to ride it out. 3 oil changes later am still getting water out but seems to run fine. Was a fun race while it lasted but my day ended abruptly .
Yeah I know you weren’t the only one fell victim to that hole. I just got lucky bc I thought the course went left but saw the W’s so then went right. Had no idea further right was super deep.
@@KyleBoardmandoesn’t matter how fast you are, there will always be someone faster, that’s just the reality of it, just keep at it, and keep rippin, your vids are always 🔥 👌🤙
