as an islanders fan i’d say he’ll be fine. as long as it’s not his job to tell the guys to not take stupid penalties he’ll be fine. he was astoundingly bad at getting the isles to stop taking idiotic penalties this season

Not a Leafs fan, but am very excited for you, Steve, and the other Leafs fans. These changes could be something great for you. As much talk as there was, last season, about playing with snot, you now have a head coach that truly knows how to play with snot, and, now, an assistant known for solid defense...and you already have Auston Matthews, who is one of the best defensive forwards, in the league, as well as an amazing scoring talent. Your beloved Leafs will be very interesting to watch next season.
The 2024/25 season will be a repeat of this season with some different names at the low end of the salary scale. You people need to be realistic. Marner and Traverse are not going anywhere. They will not waive their no movement clause. Worst case scenario is you let them walk on July1st 2025. You free up over 20 million in cap space. Go out and get a number 1 goalie and defenseman and better supporting cast. Knies and Minton will have another year of experience and Cowan will make the team. Repeat after me - Leafs have no cap space to make the team better for the 2024/25 season. Even if they make the playoffs and get into the second round big deal. They are not making it to the final round. Facts do not lie. Let the talking heads talk as they have to play it up and make a living.
As an Isles fan, I thought he was a really good assistant. He interviewed for several HC jobs but wasn’t chosen. I think his problem as HC was that he wanted to not be Barry and just couldn’t figure it out.
Toronto Maple Leafs suck they will never win the Stanley Cup in my lifetime. I’ll be dead long gone dead before they win a Stanley Cup in Toronto thank God it all live in Toronto.
I know you guys at the sdpn are not fans of Timmins... But i would like to see him get some PP time. He is what he is in his own zone, but i am not really worried when the puck is on his stick. He has to be better than resigning Klingberg.

I remember this guy when he was the enforcer for the Quebec Nordiques back in the day. He was a total badass who always seemed to start fights with the Whalers when both teams were 20 games out of a playoff spot.
Tavares and Marner should leave . They need to leave for the sake of the fans. They need to give back to the fans and not play out the last season and leave the club with nothing in return. They were great in the regular seasons but playoffs were a bust. Please leave with some class.
These changes to the coaching staff look decent so far but the real question is what happens with the players. BT has been hit and miss, but this summer needs to be big.
Leafs problem they have no heart and winning is not as important as the fame and payday period. Winning the cup comes from using your head and heart and they don't... period. They have a better chance with less popular players who have something to fight for...a chance...I cannot be convinced the higher the salary the better the result or outcome...the big money boys are happy as can be longer golfing and vacations...I mean if they go to far they lose a month or so of holidays right.100% the players fault especially the top line going through the motions for the paycheck...not hungry enough for the win...lazy contentment as the only ones actually paying for there crappy playing do not lace up the skates...1st trade Morgan Riley most times forget he is on the team except every now and then he decides to remind me gets paid way to much for sporadic moments...like really don't blink might happen this time...nope maybe next one or not LMFAO
I think his lack of success in New York shouldn’t play a factor in what you think about him as a coach. That lineup there is not very offensively gifted and when he was an assistant in Washington there were a lot of teams trying to hire him before he went to New York which means he’s probably pretty good at what he does
