hi there, I have a suggestion for a video. Could you give a definitive explanation of an scenario with the proper tools where rke2 can have security? I am on my way to have k8s with rke2 v1.28. I managed to have this running thanks to your videos and others: rke2 - metallb - longhorn - postgres-oprator - kong using postgres - Rancher. I am on my way to deploy knative for the serverless, and istio oc. I am using Ansible, Vagrant, Packer, plus MAAS to manage all of these. The thing is that I am missing the security stack and firewall. I have read about NeuVector, authentik, keycloak, stackrox, stig, wazuh, and Crowdsec. But to be honest I don't know where to start, and where to end. I need help from the pros to decide my security/firewall security for my staing and prod clusters. I think this would make a great video :)

Very informative. I tried to create a GKE Auto Pilot cluster with a shared VPC private network through terraform, assigned necessary GKE service account permissions, and make sure the control plane, node, ranges IP range and the location are aligned correctly as per the GCP GKE documentation. But stuck with this exception again and again, 'Error: Error waiting for creating GKE cluster: All cluster resources were brought up, but: only 0 nodes out of 1 have registered; cluster may be unhealthy.' Pls share if there is any suggestions to troubleshoot this error ??

I was hopeful that we would see some results at the end. Anyway, whats the status of this now, in 2024? Can we finally install Harbor on a Raspberry pi 4?

I was thinking of taking CKAD with my 15" macbook pro, but now I am not sure anymore, the environment seems to be too cluttered and I feel like I will need the external monitor. How was anyone's experience with using the external monitor with new setup?

get your shit together, get it all together and put it in a back pack, all your shit, so it's together. And if you gotta take it some where, take it somewhere, you know, take it to the shit store and sell it, or put it in the shit museum. I don't care what you do, you just gotta get it together. Get your shit together.

Got CKA certified today. New remote desktop Interface was not bad but should not take the exam on Laptop screen which would limit your space. Use external monitor.

Hi. Thanks for a nice video. can you please clarify in the new format should we open the "terminal Emulator" on remote desktop and complete the task
@DevsOperative
@DevsOperative Год назад
The new format launches a virtual linux desktop in the browser. From there you will have access to a pre-configured terminal and web browser to complete your tasks. Go through killer.sh to get comfortable with the exam format.

You should be able to use :set paste option in vim then hit i for insert mode AFTER set paste option to ensure you have no indentation issues with copy and pasting YAML from docs to your terminal.

Congrats on your CKA! Do you have any feedback on the new testing environment? I've heard the new terminal experience is much worse than it was. We may have avoided directly answering the question 🤣 What do you think - is your CKA worth it?
@mugensekai
@mugensekai Год назад
@@DevsOperative Just took my CKA today and yeah the new terminal experience is okay...could be worse-could be better. My buddy who took it earlier in the summer said it was a lot better where you could use your own terminal etc. Womp womp. EDIT: I would mention the bigger your monitor, the better. I initially did my first exam on my 16 MBP and it was do-able but not the best. Second time I used my 38 inch ultrawide, just zoom in to 100% and you're in business on the RDP.
@samdelamarter
@samdelamarter Год назад
@@mugensekai Yeah it definitely makes it a little more awkward. Luckily they still include a free retake 😂 Are you going to get the CKS now that you have your CKA?
@mugensekai
@mugensekai Год назад
@@samdelamarter yeah I might plan to get it this year depending how much I really need to dive in but I feel like CKS would really help elevate my understanding of a lot of things. Granted I've been working a lot more on the infra side with TF compared to K8s since I got my CKA 😆

What can I use as a load balancer if I set up k3s on a cloud provider like AWS? Metallb is not supported on AWS and most of the cloud. I know I can probably manually set up an AWS ALB and forward it to NodePorts, but is there any solution like metallb while running k3s on a cloud (self-hosted)?
@DevsOperative
@DevsOperative Год назад
That's a great question! Depending on your setup, you may have a few different options. I recommend checking the landscape to see if there is a tool that supports what you are looking for landscape.cncf.io/card-mode?category=service-proxy&grouping=category.

If you are using etcd on the controllers, then you need majority of controllers in the cluster to be online for the cluster to work, thus you need at least 3 servers in a cluster to survive one server going offline. 5 controllers gives you option to loose 2.

Snyk also looks like provides IAC ( Terraform ) plan scanning. Looking forward more chat around DevSecOps guys! Cheers
