Earl Campbell had a still NFL record of 4 200 + yard rushing games in 1980! Earl rushed for 1,750 yards in the last 11 games of 1980; furthermore, he missed a total of 10 quarters, or he would have shattered the single season rushing record. Earl Campbell also still shares the NFL record for most consecutive 200+ yard games.
Rookie Larry Bird went 10 & 0 vs. the 1979 NBA MVP Moses Malone. I met Earl Campbell at halftime of Game 4 in Houston of that series in the Summit when all the kids got in line to meet him!
1980 was WAYNE GRETZKY's 1st season in the NHL with the OILERS. 79-80 that is. Dude was unstoppable. Such swagger and intense strides in his younger years, he would carve the ice chomping at the bit to enter the offensive zone. GRETZKY like EARL CAMPBELL (another OILERS LEGEND), is the best player at his position of all time or at least is equal with anyone else who can make such a claim. (LEMIEUX & BARRY SANDERS).
I had to take a look, and you nailed it. Before the 1990 season the 49ers were the clear favorites and the Giants had the 3rd best odds (slightly behind the Broncos). On a side note, Dallas had the worst odds in 1990, but had the best odds before the 1993 season.
Yes, thanks for the clarification. The John I was referencing in the video was John Austin, Tracy's brother. I'll try to make sure the dialogue is a little more clear in the future. I appreciate the feedback.
No doubt that game was a big momentum swing, also not being able to play in the Kingdome wasn't ideal. Seattle had virtually the same team that beat the Lakers in the playoffs 4-1 the year before, but of course that was before Magic made his debut.
