What is the name for the switches that you were showcasing?
@volarbalar3947
@volarbalar3947 21 день назад
i think board, foam, and keycaps materials are more important than switches to make clacky, thocky or creamy sound
@hayden1255
@hayden1255 25 дней назад
Not a word, even r/mechanicalkeyboards understand that. You mean "deep" or "high pitched". PSA any switch your favorite RU-vidr calls "thocky" shouldn't even be considered for your next board
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 23 дня назад
Its called jargon within a hobby - its a word within our hobby whether you like deep pitched switches or not. That is a word used to describe deep pitches, used widely across the community. I don't agree with your statement that switches described as such shouldnt be considered for a board - what if someone has a preference for deep pitched boards? Again, this is just a word used to describe pitch. Look, sound is not my end all be all factor in a board, but I think your statement is a little aggro for no good reason.
@hayden1255
@hayden1255 23 дня назад
@coleydotmp4 but it's not "jargon" that hardcore enthusiasts use. It's synonymous with people who only use like KBDfans or other entry-level customs
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 23 дня назад
@@hayden1255 This is simply untrue. I've met many "hardcore enthusiasts" in the community who use the word often. It's just a word. Why exactly does it enrage you?
@hayden1255
@hayden1255 23 дня назад
@coleydotmp4 BT and Andy Nyugen aren't enthusiasts lmao. It doesn't but like people who get into keyboards are going to think that it's a word because youtubers who claim to be enthusiasts say it
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 23 дня назад
@@hayden1255 Those two fellas are not who i am referring to. I see it used on geekhack, on each of the subreddits, on keyboard discord channels, on keyboard twitter, on keyboard insta, by theramin goat, etc etc. And who are you to define who is and isn't an enthusiast? You're being incredibly gate-keepy and weird. Again, its just a word.

@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 Месяц назад
They're actually simply the packaging of akko purple tactiles. lavenders i think - not sure if they still package them like that though! but i literally wrote "lube station" on the box haha bc they work really well for that.
@sparktite
@sparktite Месяц назад
OMG i just watched keybored talk about doing something similar. Problem is he said lube the tactile bumps of the leaves specifically, which made no sense because he was using glorious bobas. He got rid of the ping but i would never lube stems bumps or the leaves fronts ever as i wind up with linear switches instead of the tactiles they used to be :( I do lube stem legs but only if theres no silicone on the legs. It seems to be better this way. However i dont lube legs bottoms, just the overlubing the rail part to get it all in there. Anyways thanks for confirming for me that im not crazy lool

i'm 2 years late but i'm new into this hobby and just got this JWK T1. it's the best tactile i got across my switches which are akko lavender purple v3 and leobog building block v2. i love it, it's the right amount of tactile that i need. not too heavy, not too light. buuut the black nylon housing is literally blocking my RGB LED, my keyboard looks like it doesn't have any lights.. i'm starting to regret it lol i should've splurged for the original durocks

@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 3 месяца назад
Interesting take - i think the keychron boards are more for casual mechanical keyboard fans. if you want to do heavy modding, i would look at other companies that make custom enthusiast boards. there's typically a solid baseline of quality, where you can mod if you want specific sounds or feel. keychron kinda HAS to implement these mods, because without them, the board's baseline is not so great and they would get bad reviews. Does that make sense? its just my theory of why its like this. but yeah i'd check out some other boards. if you're cool with losing the f row, i really fuck with the weikav record alice, good price + needs some mods to sound good and is very adjustable, definitely put some work into the board to get mine sounding great beyond just putting in keycaps and switches. i like it a ton
