@@coleydotmp4I just got some vermillion birds in the mail today. I’m going to try them stock and with 3 stage 55g springs. The last frankenswitches I made with the 3 stage springs were the smoothest sounding switches I’ve ever tried so far so there is definitely something to it
ktt roses are by far the most underrated switch I have ever had the pleasure of using. no one ever talks about them and my friend who has gotten gateron black ink v2, lubed, with a stem swapped for a uhmwipe stem, spring swapped for a long spring, and filmed. he wants to replace them with ktt roses after trying my board. highly recommend them to anyone, and I think you should try them out if you havn't already
Absolutely. I will say, Apiary Keyboards on twitch does talk a lot about the KTT switches. They are really known for their affordable budget options but their higher end is amazing too.
@@siegekeebs I havent tried the strawberries but I have listened to sound tests and they obviously sound way higher pitched. I feel like the strawberries sound is too dominant over the board. In other words a board with strawberries, sounds like a board with strawberries. Roses on the other hand definately change with the sound of the board.
you know, i think the azure dragons might be my go-to. I've tried a few tactiles like U4T's and sunflowers, but all were too heavy for me. The dragons feel perfect.
You should check out Gateron G Pro Silvers. They also have a two stage spring options and the short travel makes them stand out a lot when typing. They are factory lubed and feel pretty solid stock. Also they can *T H O C C*
Ever since I got a Melgeek Mojo68 and they came with Gateron Silver Pro and they surprised the hell out of me. It's a long pole with 2-stage 22mm long springs, they sounds and feels great (though a bit light) which sent me down the path of spring swapping my other linear switches as well as looking for other linear switches with 2 stage spring which then brought me here :)
@@coleydotmp4 Would like to get your feedback on spring weight of your Coley switches vs the Vermillion Birds. Are the springs on the Coley lighter or heavier?
@@itshangertime the vbirds definitely have a less intense and shorter two stage spring, feeling more similar to a standard spring than the coleys. I think the two stage spring complicates the answer to your question though. because while the vermillion birds are supposed to be 67g, they arent nearly as heavy feeling as my other 67g switches like my honeycombs. and the coleys feel really close, but have a more heavy feeling due to the longer spring. Very close though, just a completely different feeling of travel, imo. tbh they both feel to be around 64g, with a different force curve. Hope that helps!
IMO the Gateron Kangaroo Ink v2s are extremely underrated. I've literally never even seen many videos featuring them on YT. The tactility is very sharp similar to Boba U4T but they're a little more clacky. Very nice even stock. Springs could use lube but that's about it.
@@coleydotmp4 Hmm not that I can feel. They don't have any pre-travel and the rest of the travel after the bump feels pretty linear. To me at least, I could be wrong. Yeah the color scheme is like pea soup🥲 if the housings were clear I'd be a happy camper.
Idk if it counts as underrated since its just a jwk recolor, but man... i love my lilac switches. They sound great and are my absolute favorite looks-wise
You will need MX style keycaps, most keycaps online being sold are this type. Lube type does matter, for linear switches most people, myself included, used 205g0.
of course, i think its a great board. and the new colors are sweet. I think it all depends on the group buy period, which i don't know. I got mine as in stock in it came in 1-2 weeks i think.
To be fair, I've heard from CJ owners that switching out the spring can make it less muted, and their springs are kind of weak anyways. Probably going to do the same, my switch have been stuck at the custom for nearly a week pls help lol
@John Pang Prevail progressive/two stage would be awesome! sprit springs are also great. Upgrade keyboards springs too! their long springs and now they have two stage.
appreciate the suggestion, but i currently will not be buying anything from DROP due to their poor business practices with creators and designers. i will consider mt2 if DROP decides to turn over a new leaf. My next keycap profile i'd love to try is actually DCS! its cherry but more rounded.
