This is so helpful for an older dude with zero experience trying to bake for a toddlers bday! How long can you store royal icing in piping bags? Like can i make bunch, put it in piping bags, use a little, and freeze the rest? I want to make a few cookies to practice and if it goes well make more.
Definitely make, even color and freeze! Especially with darker colors. Then thaw, remix and adjust if needed and use. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YaNS0X8okUI.htmlsi=tHWeiQPUNyWTJVqF
Great recipe. Thank you! First time trying and I got about 50 2x4” 1/4” thick cookies out of one recipe. Great yield, great taste, no spread, easy recipe to follow… who could ask for anything more? 😊
Hi Pam. I have a question. If I don’t use all the rolled buttercream can I store it in a ziploc bag? And should I leave it on the counter or put it in the fridge? I’m afraid if I put it in the fridge it may get too hard. Thank you!
I can’t tell what kind of microwave you have in the background, but my microwave has a setting on it to soften better. And it works well. Instructions are inside the door. On mine you press the “soften” button once (for butter), then press the #1 (for 1 stick, 2 for 2 sticks) then start. It takes a few minutes but they will be perfectly softened and not melted.
Have you ever tried this recipe with margarine for a dairy-free cookie? Would you make any changes to the recipe or just swap out the butter for margarine?
How long does it take to crust over for you in Florida? I’m also in a humid area( Southeast Louisiana) and wondering how long before it’s crusted over.
Hi Pam! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I have a question, I usually work with RI, but I would like to do some details such as little bows, little hearts with rolled buttercream. Is it ok for me to put this details on my cookie with RI as the base icing? Or would it be a disaster? You have mentioned to add details with RI on top of your rolled buttercream but I am not sure if it would be the same having the base with RI. Thank you so much 🩷
Where do you find 5/16 roller? Also after you make the sugar cookies how do you pkg to freeze? Once you dip or place rolled frosting on can you bag them ? Worried about condensation in bag?
Amazon and etsy sell 5/16" (8mm) rings to fit most models of rolling pin. For freezing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jL0jUMDV88Y.htmlsi=k7Wsr92ctHFqPtKR
Those are so creative! I’ve been dedicating my time to gum paste flowers lately and put my cookie on the back burner. I’m now getting tempted to start a new project!
Hello, I have one question, when you mentioned that the flower or add on pieces dried really hard, do you mean you won’t be able to eat it as part of the cookie? Hope I’m making sense. TIA
@@pamkennedybakes3649 I made this today and it came together great. However when I rolled it and tried to use my embossed stamp for a happy birthday stamp, the rolled buttercream stuck right to my stamp. Will it not work for stamping?
