Photographers on a budget can buy a refurbished EF 85 1.4L for $800.00. My choice was easily made.

How does it compare IQ wise to the 70-200 f4 L for portraits? I own both and struggle to decide which to use

Some of these shots I would consider the 50mm being a better option

Should compare with the L lens but aperture of 1,8 so you see difference in bokeh

Hi there I was reading your article on differences between the 35 mm and 85 mm lenses and very much enjoyed it as it was explained simply yet in details.. so thank you for that.. what else I’m curious learning about is the difference between 24-70 mm and 70-200 which seeks to be popular among professionals.. I’m myself am a beginner, and own a Sony a6000 body with the 35 mm f1.8 lens.. I’m into taking self portraits not necessarily up close of myself, husband, and family mostly outdoor /on vacation and etc.. shoyod I keep practicing with the 35 lens I have or get either the 85 or the 70-200 mm lens? thanks again hope to hear back from you. 😊

Is the rf 15-35 in the center sharper than old 17-40 (which is very sharp on my R5, too)?

Is the canon eos r50 compatible with 50mm RF 1.8 or it does it need an adaptor?

Nice video and very informative! Just a question, have you felt a rattling noise when you move or shake the lens? I just bought a new one and I don’t know if it is normal that or should i send it back. Thanks in advance and thank you for the nice videos..

Great comparison video. It’s just too late that I just saw your video between RF 85 1.2 and the Samyang 85 1.4. For the price, size and weight, Samyang looks great. I admit the 1.2 is bar-none the best looking but without comparing it with the 1.2, the Samyang isn’t a slich either. Hopefully, Samyang/Rokinon comes back in the market with the RF AF lens.

The blurriness of the shoe doesn't mean that you can't get it much sharper, it means that you would probably have to focus on the object the edge. It's very obvious that it's not just typical smearing and lack of clarity when it comes to edge sharpness, but it looks rather out of focus. What this means is that Canon is much better at having a flatter field and the Samyang has a lot of field curvature. A common thing in lenses, but obviously the premium lenses have optical designs that correct that. That 85 RF L is real expensive, but it really appears like they went all the way with it. Untouchable sharpness - check. Great bokeh - check. Very few aberrations - check. Close to zero field curvature - check. I guess that's the reason why it's so massive.

Thanks for such a nice video. Love the fact you actually shared your own experience with it, and the sample photos were cool to have a reference. I'm actually planning on getting this lens in the near future. I got a 24-105 f4, a 70-200 f4 non IS, so this will be the next f4 in the line up LOL. I'm pairing this up with a 5D mark II that is on the way. Greetings from Nicaragua!

Really great comparison in this video, as for the autofocus during the movement,lens/camera communication scenario. I’ve seen Gmaster on Sony vs this lens on e-Mount as well and they both had their strong suits vs some delay. However, back to this video, there were some good contrast shots the Rokinon had vs Canon’s white balance difference with a bit of sharpness

You need to stop down to 2.8 or f4-5.6 on 85mm f2.

Awesome review and your photo work is Beautiful! It looks like the f2 is wider than the 1.2 and that may be why the 1.2 bokeh is larger???

If budget is not an issue just go for it. 1.2 aperture is excellent for bokeh. I've one 50mm f:1.2 and I know this.

The f2 seems a bit pink and f1.2 looks a bit green to me in the skin tones. Very happy to see that f2 is still fantastic and has so many other benefits that f1.2 cannot offer.

The sharpness while moving is absolutely incredible. Are you able to achieve something similar with the EF 85 1.4? This is much more in budget for me but I take a lot of animal photography and movement is a big factor in my photography, but I’m still looking for the gorgeous bokeh

Amazing content ! What is you favourite lens or tinity lens setup for wedding photography ? I currently have 2 r6 mk2 and ef 35 1.4 II and 85 f1.4 is , just sold the 70-200 2.8 2.8 III for the rf , and also sold the 16-35 f4 is for 14-35 instead , so i don t know if to keep the 35 and 85 or sell it and what to buy instead :D thank you

Thank you for the video. Do you think it’s worth considering buying a used Sigma 35mm ART 1.4? Will it have a better image? In price it is equal to the new RF 35mm 1.8. So I wondered if it was worth using it for work? Everyone has their own opinion and is already confused

Thank you, I am wanting to expand my RF lens selection. My next lens will be an RF 85. A few months ago I got the 28-70 F2 and for wedding I can do just about everything with that one lens but the 85 will round out what I feel I need for my style. But right now can’t get the $3000 85 1.2. So this cheaper but great option is what I’ll use until I can get the L lens

Hello Master: Please help and give me some advice, The camera I am currently using is Canon EOS R10, The kit lens used with it is (RF-S18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM) My main subject matter is toy photography. The secondary shooting content is street photography or portrait photos. Now I want to buy new lenses, after watching this video of yours, Want to compare between Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM and RF85mm F2 Macro IS STM After making a choice, I would like to ask you to give me some advice on which lens is more suitable for me? Thank you.

The rf 50 1.8 is so much better with backlight, flare and maintaining contrast. I love shooting portraits with backlight and that's the clear winner here.

Great comparison. 1.2 is fantastic, but for me, amateur, too expensive... 😞 This is sad, that Canon offers only entry level glasses and extra expensive glasses. There is nothing for advanced amateurs.

The difference in the field of view or "zoom" between the lenses is probably focus breathing. I put my camera on a tripod and if I changed the focal point of the scene I actually couldn't merge the photos in Lightroom.
