Hey my dwarf hamster has a cyst on it I think and it’s full of liquid she’s really old (3.5) and it doesn’t affect her what should I do? I don’t know if I can take her to the vet.
Tip: 14kg of hemp flex bedding for horses is 14 euro at a farmers store it's perfect for hamster cages, and don't clutter the cage too much they need to be able to run around. And you can find a 2 euro glass candy jar for a sandbox at IKEA and 1 euro magazine box for a platform.
Hemp bedding unfortunately doesn't hold burrows! The cage isn't too cluttered, it's important for them to feel safe as they are prey animals, but they can definitely still walk around easily 😊 IKEA jars are too small for a sand bath, but are great for other substrates!

My new hammy cage came today! Its the Prolee hamster cage from amazon, 48x20x20 inches, (20 inches tall, and 4 feet long.) I think ill be able to fit about 8-10 inches of bedding, Is this the right cage? I dont know how many square inches of floorspace it is, but 48x20x20 which you said was good, so i got it and it came surprisingly early. (today)
Never seem a hamster do a flop before yesterday, my poor new girl is struggling a lot with the heat. Gave her a cold plate and she spend the whole evening going from her wheel (she was determined to wheel) to spreading out fully or butt only on the plate. Bucatstate do a ceramic castle hide you can put mini ice blocks in the top of for when it's hot, completely safe. Just ordered one.
@TheHamsterRoom Theoretically, ice must be placed outside of the enclosure but when temperature is as high as 40°C, I'd say it's best to use your own judgment especially when you keep your hamster in a tank as it is poorly ventilated compared to a bar cage. Bucatstate has a castle hideout that you can place ice packs on top. There are other ways as well apart from the bucatstate hideout but you need to be a little creative. Aircon will make it much easier.

We had a black Syrian hamster who was so lovely. He was an early riser, getting up around 7pm nightly. He loved playpen time & didn’t mind being held. He died last year; it was an emergency 😢 I’d love another black one some day.
I love them already. Watching you set up enclosures gives me so much inspiration for my own setup. If I still lived in the UK, I’d definitely want to foster but then again, I don’t know how you manage to let the little cuties go - Abacot and Lourde were also so lovely!
