**Background**
Ive been a Schwinn collector since 1990. Started with a 1964 schwinn frame and the Addiction began from there. Had a lowrider bike club in 1996 (Schwinn Addiction BC) lasted a year or so. Had 50+ members. Now i spend my days searching and hunting for vintage schwinns. Mainly early Stingrays. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

I graduated in 96. I loved Ice T as well. “I’m your pusher” “colors” “you played yourself” “new jack hustler” “og” My uncle put me onto his music in his K5 blazer with Enki wheels. I thought I was cool sitting in the passenger seat. Your artwork was pretty dope for doing the Roger rabbit themed Lowrider cars. Imagine Mickey Mouse hopping a 64 on Whittier or Crenshaw. Imagination and creativity is always inside an artist.

A very good tutorial video on knowing what year the frames are now here's a little tip for you now starting in 1945 okay up until 1947 look at the dropouts on these early Schwinn's from those years you can tell by how thin the dropouts are in the back for the years 1945 until late 1947 and another thing too here's another little tip on those years look for the kickstand if it's stock to the bike the kickstand will be that of a taper design or as I call them Pencil Thin kickstands if you're lucky to find a bike in that year okay those kickstands were prone to breakage during those years I hope this will help you.

A few months ago I placed a message on your Schwinn serial number discussion part 2 and have not seen a reply, this is what I wrote "Hi, I live in Christchurch, New Zealand and own a 1981 Schwinn MTB frame and fork set as they were made and sold from 1981 between Schwinn sales staff and interested MTB purchasers. I purchased my frame/forks on Ebay as Schwinn were never sold in New Zealand.The serial number is BS367823 that ties in with a number of similar frames that I have seen. I have seen a packaging box for these frames, ex Japan that indicates 30 were made at least. From your explanation of the Automatic Schwinn Serial Lookup Tool and what I have referred to online says my frame was made in 1981. Your further explanation of the individual SN number exclusive of the BS indicates the Schwinn allotted monthly start numbers for many years that resulted in a December start number of 365366. Thus my SN 367823 is higher than the expected annual production but the BS indicates February 1981. This happens with all the numbers I have seen but the month ? and year S is always there for 1981. I have also seen a Schwinn Sting frame given a SN GR733640 that indicates July 1980 but the reviews consider the frame to be 1987 well past the Chicago shut down. There are a number of web discussion sites that indicate Schwinn did import these frame/fork sets in 1981 and they were advertised in the 1983 Schwinn BMX catalogue as part numbers 21" 29266 and 19" 29 266. This indicates the frames existed pre August 1982, when the catalogue for 1983 was produced for the 1982 Christmas sales.I appreciate your showing the Schwinn Serial number production numbers. Do you know the Schwinn imported BMX division protocol for Japanese made frames. I can send photos etc to your email." I know you do not seem to cover MTB`s but can you please anything about the reason for my serial numbers, that is the numbers, not appearing to be within the allocated February allocated numbers but past December allocation. Is it possible to get a copy of the note you have Kind Regards Les Regards Les

I had one of those myself to a 1950 Schwinn Black Phantom it looks just about as nice as yours but I did not need to replace anything because I figure that small little dents on the fender little slight bit of patina you just got to keep it original and enjoy it when riding it here's a couple of secrets that you don't know about your Phantom your Phantom was originally a b 607 Otto cycle but back in November in 1949 when they introduced this bike okay they added chrome plating to the fenders and to the tank and they use the seat the seat went way back that particular model in use back in 1948 and the same thing goes for the stop-and-go tail light rack that you have on your 54 Phantom and as for the pedals they use those pedals the as Deluxe pedals made by the Torrington company were used all the way back to 1947 and ask for the Schwinn tubular S2 rims you can take those all the way back to 1947 or as late in 1946 now for the front wheel brake okay that model was introduced in 1940 up until 1945 now 1946 was just slightly improved where you will look on your Hub shelf that the brake dust covers snap into the Hub shell whereas compared to anything prior to 1946 where the dust covers went on to the cones and did not rotate with the Hub oh and I think the reason why you're able to ride that bike without the key in the fork is I believe your lock mechanism might be broken or did you were able to take a look in the lock to see if your key is still stuck in there inside what the key tab broken off that can be fixed oh and here's one little secret now do you notice at the bottom of the seat tube that's right next to the bottom bracket on the decal that patent number dates back all the way to 1938 when Schwinn came out with their first model cantilever framed b607 which means back in 1938 all the way up until I'm going to say probably up until mid or late 50s that patent number meaning of the bicycle manufacturers could not copy that frame design but other than that you've got a very beautiful bike I just wanted to share a little tidbits of information on that bike for you.

Now the front hub you're showing okay that model was introduced in 1940 but there are various types of parts inside those hubs that will not interchange anything prior to 1946 such as the cones and the dust covers that press onto the cones from 1940 up until 1945 and then after 1946 then they still kept that design for the large flange front drum brake that they Incorporated a slightly different ball cup design which wasn't much but it made it easy for the Schwinn mechanics that worked on this front hubs they used pressed on dust covers that pressed into the Hub shell I ought to know I have quite a collection of these type of hubs on various Schwinn bikes.

@Schwinn_Addiction
@Schwinn_Addiction 11 месяцев назад
I plan on doing a video on this. The tumbler locks in from the inside. So, first thing you have to remove the cap from underneath. Depending on if you want to save it or if you have a replacement. And You can get replacements. You can use a Dremel and drill a couple holes along the edge next to each other to make a slot. And use a small screw driver to pry the cap up. Or if you don't care. And have a replacement ,Just drill a hole in the middle. Use a wood screw, and pull with pliers. Then on the tumbler there's a lil latch, push in and push the tumbler out from the back.
