How to tell if you have an original Chicago Schwinn 

I just bought at a yard sell a girls stingray bike for $10. It's all there with fenders and chainguard. Rusted on unpainted parts but complete. Thanks for your info.

Great info my Dad bought my brother and me new Schwinn Sting Ray bikes 1963 first year and i remember the badge saying chicago later maybe 1968 i got another Stingray gold i don't remember the badge saying chicago but sure it did. pop ahead to 1976-78 i bought a Schwinn World 10 speed - i still have it but the badge say Taiwan but a good bike and back that you bought them at a Schwinn dealership only of course now days walmart and other stores sell china made bikes :(. other day at antique store i saw a Schwinn cruiser it was rough shape maybe from the 50's no wheels , handlebars , seat and the the crank was a mess but it was only $20. and still had the Schwinn badge - i kick myself for not getting it as most call them cruisers i call them hot rod bikes . i have a huffy cranbrook black that is pretty cool i've chopped the fenders but would love to have a old Schwinn .

What I thought was the middle weights and the 26" had the bigger badges and the 20" and under had the small badges.

I have two Chicago made Schwinns: a Collegiate circa 1969/1970, and a Town and Country trike circa 1970 or so. Those were passed onto me by the original owners who bought those bikes new back then. The head badges are screwed on. I also have a Schwinn 'Rocket Comp' full-suspension mountain bike from the 1990's which I'm sure is an off-shore made Schwinn. Two years ago I bought a re-issue Sting Ray which is a Pacific Cycle made repop. The head badge is just affixed with adhesive..not screwed on. As I recall the original Sting Rays had very deep lustrous paint the repop I bought while it is a nice looking and riding bike; one thing that struck me is the paint doesn't seem as nice as I recall the originals were.

I have three 26" Typhoons, one 24" Typhoon, one 16" Sting Ray Jr. And one 16" Bantam. So far I plan on leave them all classic except for one 26" I plan on turning into a lowrider and the 24" will be a lowrider trike.

Great video. I have an issue with my frame. I cannot find the serial number anywhere but it has the turn downs, kick stand and rounded rear fender mount as well as the smooth neck where the front forks go into. It looks like the front badge screws broke off when someone tried to take it off so I would have to bore them out. Do you know what size the holes are? What year period could it possibly be?

I have old 26" frame that has all the markings of an older frame , screw on tag, huge seam on bottom, plus when I got it had a skip- link chain set up and huge Ashtabula 7" stroke crank but it has the numbers on front tube starting with LN . ?

Found one on trash pick it up and all is matching to be an original one.🥰

I had bought a all original 64 26in girls beach cruiser from the original owner she had it sense she was a teenager the only thing that wasn't original was the seat appolstry and she even proved it she had the date they put a cover on it under the fabric. I couldn't believe it. She new I was interested in it I wss at her house doing a job and she asked if I could help her out she new I like the bike and as if I would buy it from her to help pay the bill for the job I was doing. I said sure didn't even ask what she wanted for it. At the end of the job she asked if I'd be able to do 45$ I couldn't believe it. I gave her a 100$ i actually gave It to my boss i didn't want to take advantage of a little old lady and her bike. It was a great deal all the way around. The shitty part is before I could even get it home I stopped and went to eat after getting off late got back to my truck and some ass hole stolen it from the back of my truck while I was eating in side the restaurant. I was really bummed out because I have the same year boys beach Cruzer it would of been a matching set and year his and her's 😂💯🏍️✌️🛠️

great video .i have a schwinn varsity with a tall neck the back of the seat says schwinn. front emblem has the two screws the emblem is white .with blacvk letters. on bottom it says chicago with a black r . has no.0847 . can you help me out thanks .

What if you have a large badge that says Schwinn across the top and stingray down it like yours says Schwinn down it

Yeah i've had original ones crack and the ones made in taiwan not crack at all.. If it's the blueprint of a Schwin... It's a swim it don't matter where it's from... As a matter of fact to me the taiwan one's frames are a lot stronger...
