Hi, everyone. My name is Josh, and I'm an aspiring pro walleye fisherman that travels the Midwest fishing the Cabela's National Walleye tour. I enjoy fishing tournaments, but also spend part of my year guiding underprivileged youth and veterans.
I encourage you to subscribe to my channel to see fishing tips, fishing product reviews, and fishing reports from throughout the Midwest.
OH SNAP!!! The only part of the video where I actually saw the jig was @17:10... THAT was F*ING awesome to know the pretty precisely where the bait & fish is. That was really awesome.... looks like my credit card might have a balance again! UGH I saw a radar type of artiface line on the Mega Live that Garmin didn't have to my eyes-- Any idea what that was? (Not sure how distracting that'd be while trying to actually fish overall). What a great video, even aside from 17:10. There really are plusses & minuses but not a hands dowbn 1 being better than the other. Very fair comparison of both. Great job guys!!
Always been a Humminbird guy, but the more I see of the Garmin units I can say I'm very impressed. My HB ice flasher always has interference from other units, but the worst interference (in winter) is from other Humminbirds! Drives me insane.
That Garmin unit is 1920x1200 display vs Hb's 1200x800. It's like 4k vs 720. I wonder if that plays into "losing" your lure at times and quality of display? I think Hb got a bad rap at the start and as settings are adjusted things are closer to garmin Ls than they first appeared.
mega live is garbage the 360 is phenomenal but they didnt do a good job on the mega live that was a let down for a lot of people i bet. Thank god i am a garmin user lol
The Mega Live is a transducer that you connect to compatible Helix units. The Helix unit needs to be G3N or G4N model. You can determine your model by looking in the back of the unit near the inputs. The white label with the barcode will say what model you have.
Thanks for watching. No choke cable needed. The choke cable is for setups with on board chargers. In this video my Mega Live and Helix 10 was hooked up to 30ah lithium stand alone battery. Some of the interference might be coming from crosstalk. humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/accessories/miscellaneous/charger-choke-interference
Do you really think the mega live image is as good as the garmin? Is it better in person than in video because it doesn’t look anywhere near As good as livescope
Thanks for watching. It’s hard to argue with your observation. We really tried hard not to be biased in the video and let the results speak for themselves. For those who own Humminbird products and never fished with this type of technology, then they will probably be happy with the Mega Live. Saying that, I don’t foresee a flood of Garmin Livescopes hitting the used market anytime soon.
We saw them as well. We tried to get rid of them, but no luck. The pulses where still present when turning the power off the Livescope transducer. We are powering the ML setup from its own 30ah battery right behind the unit on the ice shuttle. So, the power should be really clean.
It has a interference setting that can get rid of this no problem most people haven’t seen what the mega live can really do when you dial in the settings
No 360 running. I’m not sure where it’s coming from. It didn’t go away when we turned off power to the Livescope a few times. The Helix and Mega Live were powered by the 30ah lithium battery on the back of the ice box. We did this so it had really clean power. Hopefully, Humminbird will be able to provide some answers when I try to contact them. I couple of people have messaged me about having the same issue, and a couple people had none. Someone suggested that it might be caused by the aluminum pole that it’s mounted to, but I’m not sure. I know a large percentage of guys that will not be mounting these to their trolling motors on their boats.
You're comparing zoom on a touch screen vs non touch screen on a Live comparison video. The Solix I'm sure will be much more comparable with that specific feature you're refering to.
We would have loved to test the Garmin against the Solix, but I currently don't own one and they are backordered pretty much anywhere. Hopefully, they will be back in stock soon as I was planning on using one for my Mega Live setup on the bow of my boat.
I really liked Thai video, you should post some more fishing videos! I guess it’s hard right now since it’s the middle of winter. Keep goin and I really like that boat that’s a sweet rig.

*I've taken the motor out on my 12 foot row boat a number of times. My boat is probably a little heavy for this motor but it does the job unless the wind is really going.->**lovy.biz/68gq?Q95** It trolls at the right speed and when I need to move I turn it up to 5 and I can move along pretty well. The trigger to lift the motor is a little bit of a hassle when you need to lift it fast and your hitting the bottom, but that is more of a user error. Be aware of your depth. In order to have the motor be 12 inches in the water I'm using the whole length of the pole, but it works. Make sure your battery is fully charged before going out.*
How did putting the screws into the sled trim and canvas go? I recommend pre-drilling. Otherwise the insulation just wraps around the screw threads making the screw useless.
at 1:03 you can see me drilling the canvas trim to the sled. I personally didn't predrill holes and had no problems. The screws that came with the kit seemed sharp enough and a fresh battery might of also helped.
I just bought one cant wait to use it..I bought the cargo netting, Led lights, and center consoule and pivet hitch for towing..Get the pivet hitch everything folds up on top of the sled when transporting...Good luck this winter.?New sub
