A 32 game turnaround in 1 year by adding 1 player! That 32 game 1-year turnaround record still stands as the greatest 1-year turnaround in NBA history. And the NEXT year? 62-20, and an NBA Championship. Bird got his first championship in his 2nd year in the league! And the Eastern Conference was BY FAR the tougher of the 2 conferences. The Celtics had to go through defending champ Philadelphia 76ers, that had all-time greats Dr. J and Moses Malone on it, just to GET to the Championship series. It took MJ 9 years to win a title. Part of the reason is that Boston & Bird were in the way during the first half the that stretch.
