This channel is based on reviews of products that I have purchased. It also contains lots of videos and footage of old and new tractors at work. There is some how to videos as well.
Try to start the 22hp 7000 and it just click one time. Brand new battery, battery wire gets warm. First try it sounds like whine and then nothing. Seat is down, blades no engaged and not in gear. Solenoid ?
@@DamnGoodReviews Try to wiggle the wire on the solenoid. I have a 25 HP Kohler that came out of a 3000 series and it acks up sometimes. Sometimes I have to hit the key 4 times to get it to start, Or hold it at start position for a few seconds. That is where I would start 1st. Make sure you have power going to solenoid also. Use a test light. If you have no power when turning key it could be a faulty safety switch somewhere.
We’ve got a Utilimax with the gas engine. We put a 5’ Boss v plow on it. If you rob the hydraulic hose from the dump you run all functions with the 3 levers. Ours doesn’t have a cab. Great machine. Kind of hard to mow with since you’re sitting in front of the articulation. We also have 2 3400y’s with cabs, a 420 and an old S-18.
I’ve been looking for one of these or one of the Ventrac 3000 series. The UM with the hydraulic dump body seems even more useful than the Ventracs and the 3000’s have their own line of attachments that aren’t completely compatible with the 4000 series.
Wow, that is a really cool machine. I have a 4520N and am dreading the cold months. I'd be interested in seeing it on hills. Those slope ratings on single wheels sounds interesting.
Thanks for video .steiner-ventrac fan since 1999 . 410 steiner 60 deck slip scoop. Upgraded to 2007 430 kubota 25 hp gas last summer. Really like ease of changing attachments.rented stump steiner grinder in 1999, rototiller . Stump grinder was straight out not perpindicular. Smaller stump maybe 10 -12". Am wandering if you know if ventrac dual wheel adaptors fit steiner . ? Appreciate any information . Thanks Abe
@@abecombs4349 They will not fit older Steiners do to Ventrac is a 5 bolt pattern rim and older Steiners are 4 bolt. I am not sure if they would work on a 440 or 450. The newer Steiners are 5 bolt, But I can not say for sure if they would convert. Sorry.
We have over 200 stumps to grind and we have a Ventrac is the grinder up to this type of use. The trees are both hard and soft wood. Average 3 feet dia.
@@ClarkWhidby I think they would fit, But the rims on the supers are wider so the tire would cup in and look strange. May not have as wide of a footprint also. Super rims are not easy to find , But they are out there. The super spindle area is a little wider also. I did put super rims on my 582. I used washers to shim the extra space and used a longer bolt. Adding longer spindles would be a better way to go, But mine does not get used much so it works for what I am doing.
@@steiger256 thanks! I just picked up my first 582 with a kohler and I was looking into fixing it up some so far it’s my favorite tractor I’ve had so far
I also have the STIHL 600. I am about 6ft one inch tall and I’m sure u are taller than that. I notice u bent over using the PW which with my bad back would pooch my back in half an hour. So I bought a 17 inch length of PW extension pipe so I don’t have to hover over the wand and is WAY easier on the back.
Picked up a IH Cub Cadet 1250 hydro yesterday for $75.00. A family was cleaning up their father old chicken house packed full of junk. He was apparently addicted to auctions many years ago and accumulated quite a collection of stuff. The daughter remembers him buying the 1250 about 30 years ago when she was a kid and she used it to cut grass. It had a problem and was parked in that chicken house for about the last 25 years she says. I looked it over, it was all there, engine was not seized and it had compression, so I got it. Brought it home, cleaned it all up, replaced fuel line, cleaned the tank, cleaned carb and attempted to start it. It fired right up but would lose fire and shut off as soon as you'd release the key from start to run. I figure either a bad ignition switch, bad run side of the coil or a bad run wire. I'll dive into that next weekend.
@@Zappy1210 Nice find. This old stuff can sit for years and still run great. I would check points. Could just be a little rusty from sitting. They are pretty simple machines to work on. I am sure you will have it running great soon.
I always leave the duals on. I tried a couple without and it moved to much side to side with the singles. Fresh pine is one of the worst stumps to grind. All the sap gums up and slows you down. If those stumps were a year or two old you you would have flown through them. I originally built some fences to contain the chips to save on cleanup out of pvc and screen. I am currently working on my first attempt at something mounted to the grinder to contain the chips better without having to move them every time i want to reposition. Just letting the chips fly is fine at your own house but not so much on customers lawns in a commercial setting. Keep the videos coming, i appreciate your honest reviews.
@brandonpaul5712 That would be a nice addition to the attachment to keep chips contained. You may have to stop and push them away more often, But it would make cleanup easier for sure.
@OTGAuGres I have spread a lot of dirt with the bucket and blade. After a while you just get used to it. I could see using a skidsteer then anther tractor it makes it more difficult.
I’ve got the same grinder. I always run mine with the duals. I like the stability of the duals. I biggest I’ve ground is about a 5 foot willow. I usually just work my way around. Depending on the situation I’ll use the steering versus moving frontwards and backwards. Also, I always run with the weight transfer on #4. I find with part of the weight of the attachment transferred to the tractor it has less tendency to dig into the stump and stall. I’ve had mine for about a year and have probably ground 30-40 stumps. Still on the original teeth although I have rotated some of them that dulled.
@OTGAuGres I prefer using the duels on everything also. The new trees planted sort got in my way, But I could have worked in a circle. I never thought of using the weight transfer. That is a great idea. There were a few times it dug in deeper than I wanted. That would have helped. I always enjoy reading the comments because myself and others learn tricks that other people have found. Thanks for the advice and watching.
I suppose you could have just took off the right front duel or both front duels. That would have saved some time and still made it better for the job. Great video.
I had just picked up a Cub Cadet 1450 last Monday with the tiller with mule drive for it, sleeve rear lift, snow blade and the 44c mower deck and lift for 300 only thing that was missing was the side panels to make it complete. Had it running that evening and drove it off the trailer
I had the tri ribs on my 1250 when I ran my tiller on it but like you said as soon as you drive on any kind of lawn you destroy it. Ended up going to a more factory tire for that machine and the tri ribs are going on my Case 444 when I start working on it. Guess I'll see if I can get a set of those Hartford tires for my 982 and I'm temped to put a set of R4's on my 982D project. On a funny note when I got my Cub 1000 back from a friend he gave me a set of smooth rib style tires in 18x9.5-8 and they would look correct on a super QL. Great video showing all the different tires options !
@AnomadAlaska We have had a real dry spell this year. Borderline drought. I am always amazed no matter how little rain, Or how many weeds I have growing in my lawn the Ventrac just comes through and makes my lawn look great. I really honestly couldn't imagine mowing with any other machine.
@dom2114 I really wanted to do a video on that, But I will be honest I was not sure. I was told once you did it a few times it was really easy. I am a hands-on guy myself. If I were to purchase a loader for myself I would have my dealer go through the steps with me. I have been told it is really easy, But I do not like to make videos and show people things if I am not confident I can show you the right way. I am pretty sure Ventrac has A video on the proper technique on how to remove and install the loader. I am sorry I couldn't help you there.
