I used to have this video on my favorite list here on RU-vid, and for some reason it got removed and my memories of this video remained but on the other side I couldn't remind the name of the band and the music. I had to do a little mediation and search through my lost memories, and turns out, I end up remembering vaguely the name of the band. I tried to describe the video to artificial intelligence and it wasn't able to locate it. Well, thanks to you now I can rewatch it and live the sensations it caused me when it was released. Thank you, and hooray for my brain. AI sucks.
There, beyond the windowsill Lies the child that we all dread An affront to our ease and our lassitude A thorn in our side How soon will she die? Now every road I take, no matter how far Leads me back here again, convicted by your smile And every waking dream, and every wasted hour Seems veined with a disease that I cannot escape Soft music plays on the gramophone A fire in the grate, arm around your wife’s waist Warms your crocodile tears As you think of the child under the cellar stairs When will she disappear? If there’s no way through for you, there’s no way through for me I refuse the cool gardens, I reject my honored seat If there’s no way through for you, there’s no way through for me I don’t need the golden banners, I don’t need the vain embrace Now, every road I take, no matter how far Leads me back here, convicted by your smile All is veined with a disease that I cannot escape For troubled cells do not a healthy body make There is no greater good if you’re trodden underfoot - There is no greater good. Paradise is a lie if we have to burn you at the stake to get inside Paradise is a lie if you’re not by my side
There are different versions of the lyrics but this gets the essential meaning across: A blacksmith courted me, nine months or better He bravely won my heart, wrote me a letter With his hammer in his hand, he looked quite clever And if I was with my love, I'd live forever But where is my love gone, with his cheeks like roses And his good black billycock on, all crowned with primroses I'm afraid the scorching sun, will shine and burn his beauty And if I was with my love, I'd do my duty Strange news has come to town, strange news is carried Strange news flies up and down, that my love he's married I wish them both much joy though they can't hear me And may God reward them well for the slighting of me Don't you remember well, when you lay beside me And you said you'd marry me and not deny me If I said I'd marry you, it was only for to try you But bring your witness love, and I'll not deny you Oh witness have I none, save God almighty And may he reward you well, for the slighting of me Her lips grew pale and wan, it made her poor heart tremble To think she loved a one and he proved deceitful

Is this band what used to be 16 Horsepower?! What's the singers name again. Saw them live once in Seattle as 16 Horsepower in the mid to late 90's. Absolutely Fantastic
