I swear, I lost my mind at the ??? ost. The activity already feels like a fever dream, and you hear a ghostly variant of Faren's music playing halfway through. xD
Say what you will about the SotO storyline overall, but I genuinely think this scene was really cool and properly showcased how Eparch isn’t only a danger to Tyria, but to his fellow Kryptis.
I don't think he was a danger at all, he just saw an opportunity in Soo-Won's death (as the Shadowstone in Amnytas was damaged) and took it. I think he was deluded or something has manipulated him into devouring "everything". He even said during the Zakiros event that "he saw everything", and I think it meant that the Eye of Janthir has showed him "something" that made him delusional, made him a Kryptis cannibal. No other Kryptis has been consuming fellow Demons, not even Cerus or Deimos - they fed on emotions. Eparch's desire to consume, I think, was definitely abnormal and made no logical sense. Eye of Janthir is an artifact that manipulates emotions, acts and we actually witnessed its manipulation back in Season 3, when it showed the vision of Balthazar killing Kralkatorrik - yet it never happened - it shows the general truth, but hides the smaller elements from people it manipulates. Eparch was a maniacal being, but he genuinely cared for Kryptis, but yet he did something against his nature - consuming his people, taking their dreams away, reducing them to empty emotions - and I don't think he did it entirely willingly.
Thank you SO much for uploading a high quality version of this! Easily my favorite battle theme in the entire game, the vocalists and orchestra are just mind blowing. My heart was pounding the entire battle because of this track. Good memories! 💜
GW2 Wiki editor here, thank you for all your work compiling and uploading new music! Your vids have been a great help to me while trying to update the soundtrack pages. Since the most recent tracks aren't going to be on the vinyl and who knows when they'll hit streaming (still waiting on the Gyala Delve tracks </3), I wanted to ask about the two new tracks "Eparch, the Midnight King" and "There is no army...". Are those unofficial names or were you able to find info about them somewhere? Likewise about them both being composed by Bryan Atkinson, is there a source or is that based off your own observation? Many thanks!
Those are the names I have given, but I always take the context into account. "There's no army" is just a quote of Commander, when they stepped into that reliquary of dead hanged corpses. I know Bryan Atkinson's style of composing (he always highlights the main GW2's leitmotif multiple times in a track which is always very strongly accented) and he is responsible for the music of the entire Nayos' part of the story.
@@michram Interesting--I haven't played the last two patches yet, so I was unaware of the context. And I see, thanks for the detailed answer! All of us GW2 soundtrack enthusiasts are lucky to have you around, getting information can be hard sometimes so I appreciate you uploading music and sharing that insight with the rest of us. Unfortunately, I'll probably need to wait for an official confirmation of some kind before I can add details about the new tracks to the wiki. But it's still nice to have an idea of whose work is whose, and the meantime I'll enjoy listening to your compilations ^^
Thanks, though I think this version sounds a bit... bloated and slightly off-sync, and I would say this version is much better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iW1bI2cPBcg.html 😁
Excellent Work as always Michram, now I can enjoy the whole expansion's music in one :) Thanks for your work!! By the way, I have a small question: I listened to this whole music track after completing the expac to see whether I can remember which music appeared where, and I can't seem to remember the track "Isgarren the Curator" appearing anywhere! Is that actually the case or did I just somehow missed the place it played in the expac? I really can't tell :P
I noticed that as well! I think it was supposed to play as we were fighting Isgarren in Amnytas to calm him down, but somehow in game we can't hear this specific track. Music bugs are never really looked into by devs, so I think we will never hear Isgarren the Curator in game 😅 Also thank you for kind words ☺️
I'm sure the orchestra was recorded live, synth was very likely recorded on Moog also live, the vocals and chanting I'm not sure (There's loads of processing and effects on them) I think they recorded every piece live before expansion launched, then they were just releasing more over time.
@@michram That explains a lot. I was wondering if this music was recorded prior to expansion launch but did not get released until now. In this case, I wonder why they chose to not include it in the vinyl record. Maybe, the music they already released fit perfectly into a two sided record and they didn't want to complicate things by adding another vinyl.
@@RedNuii The only two tracks that will not available on vinyl are Eparch's Theme and that ambient music piece that plays in one of Zakiros' chambers. Perhaps both of these tracks weren't composed prior to the expansion, and were composed quite recently just for the final update.
yayyyyyyy!!!!! thank you! was listening to your previous soto compilation n then switching to the new music from this patch, now I can listen to all of it in one vid! XD
Imo this is the best thing in this patch. The new Fractal was Good, the new meta was great as well, Conv CMs somewhat good as well?(only tried em once) but none of them were perfect. This on the other hand is one of the best boss themes i'v heard in GW2 since Dhuums Theme and Soo Woons Theme.
Indeed, you know GW2's battle themes have been usually very lyrical - like Battle on the Breachmaker, Soo-Won's battle theme, Mordremoth and so on, but this final theme is just something else: it's heavy, dark, with a very strong, incredible beat, those strings, brass and then electric guitars blending in with demonic chanting - it's just unbelievable. I'm happy Anet is pushing the boundaries of music - and this track with its rawness and beauty is definitely a masterpiece.
Imagine being shown several instances of the Commander failing retreating, losing to enemies and fighting battles they did not win. Now imagine a realm of torment and anguish infesting Tyria, requiring the wizards to leave in order to try to protect it. Imagine Peitha, not understanding the full scope of the situation and only seeking to use the calamity to gain power and betray the alliance. Picture the Wizards knowing this and allowing the Commander to the Wizards tower, guiding them one step at a time, preventing the Commander from contacting their friends to keep the "demons from spreading." Imagine, the great evil is actually the failed Commander, with all their defeats, all their loses, all their hate and vitriol coming to kill the Wizards for making them relive all their failures. Imagine that failed Commander doing everything in their power to destroy the one person they perceived as the reason for their failure, the Commander who won. Also Zojia dies because heck if they gave her character the lowest common denominator story path they could have given her.
YEEEEEE we did get new surprise tracks! When I heard it during the meta I literally was like "OMG ITS NEW MUSIC it's new right I swear I never heard this before MICHRAM IS GONNA POST IT RIGHT" XD
It is very loud for me - listening to it at 30% volume on my headphones connected to my laptop and it's blasting ^_^' I didn't want to overblow it, but I will make a louder version and will send a link soon.
@@user-os3dv6ug6l indeed, it is different, and you are right - I'm also a huge fun of beautiful lyrical feel, but music can have many shades and there is beauty in various types of music. :)
Eye of Janthir reappeared... Maybe... we will go with Livia to Woodland Cascades and Isles of Janthir next? :o (it vanishes when Peitha takes the throne)
@@JP1989-l9h I mean a story that is building during several mini expansions rather than every one of them being separate from each other. Not a mini expacs, but sort of a forever Living World... Dunno. Just think that it's better if they cannot give us a story as good as HoT, PoF, LW4, etc.
