even tho 3rd strike will always be dear to my heart for obvious reasons, when it comes to an essential fighting game accessible for all players, I'd say SF6 is more on the mark. 3rd strike is still quite hard to get into, despite being a groundbreaking entry
Good video & great analysis. A game to nominate: Darkstalkers, especially Vampire Savior. It’s a series created alongside SF Alpha, SF3, and Marvel, and while those entries got more attention, it is no less beloved by its fans, and a lot of elements of Fighting Games were created or refined in this series, VSav itself the culmination of everything Darkstalkers achieved. 30 years later, fans keep the series alive, hoping Capcom can give it another chance to find the audience (and not jinx it).
It's a fucking shame for society that you're not more famous. YourRU-vid channel and the library behind you shows that you have a great future in front of you. Please never give up! Please come thank me for believing in you when you reach 10k subscribers.
IMO SF3 TS is the peak of 2D sprite graphics, some could say KOF 13 is, but SF has way more smoother animations, some of KOF 13 graphics seems to be 2D renders of a 3D model. Regardless, KOF13 looks sick too.
3rd strike has provided me with an outlet that I have spent thousands of hours trying to get good at, whether or not I'm ACTUALLY good is a topic that is still up for debate lol, but having met some of my best friends through this game, gone to tournaments in different countries, and found something I genuinely love I can confidently say that it was still worth while.
I think the best thing about 3S is the fact that no matter who you are, wherever you live, you always have a chance to show your mettle and represent yourself. Plus Q is fun
Yo I have that same Evo Moment 37 shadowbox display! Found it randomly in a shop, and it was an instant purchase Also good content! Hope to see you grow
No one thought Chun's SA2 was unparryable, just very hard to parry. The issue is that it was nigh impossible to parry on reaction, particularly in the situation Daigo was in. Any blocked hit would be lethal due to chip, and SA2 only has a 2 frame window post super flash to parry. Every single time Daigo pressed forward or down, it locked him out of parrying for a third of a second. If Justin happened to super during that time, Daigo was just dead. It was Daigo properly threading the needle to get the initial parry, then not panicking and doing the proper parry pattern, and then actually doing the optimal punish to get the kill. That was the impressive shit
If you like throwing fireballs and zone it’s Super Turbo, the cast is more legendary, the sounds, it’s perfect but its starting to look old. 3S if you want to parry and throw less fireballs, the art is timeless and the music is amazing.
Like everyone is saying, great video. As someone who recently started playing Street Fighter (Alpha and 3 series specifically) this is one of the best SF3 videos I’ve watched
As more modern games have shown with universal mechanics that level the plain field somewhat but also make the game more homogenous, balance is not inherently a good thing
Wish they'd give it a new re-balance for fun. The purists wouldnt like it but just have an "Original" mode for them and a "Remix" mode for the new one.
I dont understand the infatuation with this game, its super mid, and none of us played it back in the day when it came out. MVC2 was the game. For you Gen Zs that werrent there when this game was released it was super niche and not widely played. Its only been popularized in the past 5 years or so.
5 years? Bro. People played it so much on GGPO people were nagging Capcom for a rerelease, and we got a PS3 rerelease. With GGPO net code. That was in 2011, 13 years ago.
That's just your personal taste. I was around when these launched, and never liked the Marvel games, but 3s has been my fav FG since the early 2000s when I started learning it. And that's also just my taste, and that's perfectly fine!
@@__rezin__7819 I mean, there were hardly any sf3 cabs pretty much anywhere. So you're right, but even if you WANTED to play it, it was hard to find! CPS2 games like Marvel were way easier to find because arcade owners got more access to those. Where I lived you'd find like 100 KOF machines for maybe one sf3 (not just 3s, ANY sf3 lol).
People say that only because 3 didn't have the 8 world warriors, which have been overdone to death in more recent games. I really respect Capcom for having the guts to do an ACTUAL different game with different characters and playstyles, instead of Street Fighter II again and again.
@@quickcar5255 let's not pretend like Blanka with his green skin, Dhalsim with his totally accurate anatomy and Guile with his absolutely not ridiculous haircut aren't freaks. SF has always had wacky characters. What my homie Zebes said is goated and objective truth 🙏
love seeing people be wrong! please never share your opinions ever again. :) 3rd strike's character roster is awesome and the roster isn't the real reason it flopped, it's because new generation launched with such little amount of characters to begin with and because the arcade machines literally did not say that it was street fighter.
I still don't know how to hit confirm in 3rd strike, after playing so many years, I usually just put the super in whenever i punish. still this is my favorite street fighter game i like over 4 and 6. its easily the fighting game i play between games whenever i want to take a break playing JRPGs
@@Sibaspapu lol I been playing for over 25 years , I use to play all over Los Angeles and Korea town . I still play every day but it’s boring not being able to play top players. Plus the game is really just 4 characters. I have played the whole roster and it’s probably the most unbalanced street fighter ever ,
@@187bronco you play every day 25 years later.... You might not realize it because you are so cost to it's flaws, but that is more of a confirmation of it's status as a masterpiece than anything.
What I absolutely love about 3rd strike is even though there’sa lot of broken stuff, each and every character has a fighting chance due to one simple yet very effective mechanic that should be implemented (correctly) in other fighting games. Great video.
Each and every character doesn't have a fighting chance with the system mechanics though. What is Twelve supposed to do if he parries Chun Li SA2? Throw? 2 lights into a super for mediocre damage? I like 3S but I really disagree with the sentiment that the parry in this game is an equalizer because the game balance being the way it is prevents it from being one.
3S wasn't even the best version of SF3. And SF3 as a series wasn't as good as Alpha. Also shit roster. And there is a reason why it almost buried the franchise.
