This is one of the best known songs in Finland. Even tho im not a fan of Yö in general, this song is really amazing. While the music itself is good, the lyrics are insanely good and what make the song truly amazing, and need to fight a lot not to get my eyes wet listening to this. Joutsenlaulu = Swan song. Swan in Finnish mythology is a bird that travels between this world and underworld, and the lyrics deal with this issue of life and death. Unfortunately i dont think reading the lyrics gives the same feeling as listening and understanding them in Finnish, like you need to hear the singer sing them for them to hit really hard. Also maybe to truly appreciate this, you need to understand a bit about the mythology of the swan in Finland. Whooper swan (direct translation from Finnish = singing swan, so this song more properly translated would be the song of the singing swan) is also the national bird of Finland. GPT: Swan, or "joutsen" in Finnish, holds a significant place in Finnish mythology and folklore. It is often seen as a symbol of beauty, purity, and mystery. Here are some key points about the swan in Finnish mythology: Mythical Significance: Swans are considered mystical creatures in Finnish mythology. They are often associated with the divine and the supernatural, embodying purity and grace. The Swan of Tuonela: One of the most famous references to a swan in Finnish mythology is the "Swan of Tuonela." Tuonela is the realm of the dead in Finnish mythology, and the swan is said to swim in the dark waters of this underworld river. The swan's mournful song is a symbol of the connection between the world of the living and the dead. The "Swan of Tuonela" is also the title of a tone poem by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, which vividly captures the swan's eerie and haunting presence. Kalevala: The national epic of Finland, the Kalevala, features the swan in several stories and poems. The swan often represents unattainable beauty and tragic love, highlighting its ethereal and almost otherworldly nature. Symbolism: In Finnish folklore, the swan is often seen as a symbol of the soul. It is believed that the swan can travel between the realms of the living and the dead, making it a mediator between these two worlds. The swan's white plumage is also associated with purity and innocence. Cultural Impact: The swan has a profound impact on Finnish culture and art. It is a recurring motif in Finnish literature, music, and visual arts, symbolizing various human emotions and states of being, from love and longing to death and the afterlife. Overall, the swan in Finnish mythology is a powerful symbol that embodies beauty, purity, and the mystical connection between life and death. Its presence in stories and cultural expressions underscores its significance in the Finnish collective imagination.

This is my Life was recorded in several versions, by Gasolin slow (this one) and fast, and by Kim Larsen alone (fast). This slow Gasolin version you chose is my favorite of the all. Female guest singer midways is Birgitte Lindhardt. Kim Larsen, national treasure to Denmark, thank you for all your music. R.I.P.

dude you can not help but feel it in your soul, because it is literally your ancestors culture this is all done in Proto-Germanic but they do rituals in multiple languages including English, but ya man this is part of us. it is tribal and therefore you and I and millions of others when they first hear Heilung always wonder why we cant stop wanting to hear more from them .... btw I know that this is four years ago... but if you happen to get tis comment... listen to Traust it is a newer video from them.

I live in the region of Pirkanmaa in Finland, in english the chorus says "it starts with p and ends with a, great to be in pohjanmaa" and here people always replaced pohjanmaa with pirkanmaa :D it was a thing that people always yelled "PIRKANMAA" over the song whenever this came on.

You should react to ones with english lyrics, if its possible to find those. Would open up a lot more context about these songs. This song is extremely emotional, and one of most classic finish songs there are. Knowing the meaning behind it all would give you a whole new perspective about it.

The frontman was very inspired by the fact that there is eternal silence outside our planet. Johannes also mentioned that this song expresses the main idea of the album - the cyberpunk future, which the band Fear Factory warned about 30 years ago. And in the clip there is a typical Avatar theme of fighting inner demons. These ragged, abrupt horror-style approximations delight me immensely!😍 And in the song one of the best Tim's guitar solo. Johannes filmed рolaroids at home (by night in park with his wife as a film crew XD) in Finland in April, by the way. Band performance filmed in March before ride in Russia in 2020. Scream SILENCE for that song was recorded at the final concert of the Avatar Country Tour in San Francisco on October 4, 2019. “Initially we did an entirely different music video [for ‘Silence In The Age Of Apes’] but we had this idea that in hindsight is scary how well it fits with what is happening this year due to the pandemic,” Eckerström explains. “It would confront us with the reason if we had two weeks left to live. Two minutes you would call your mom, two years you carry on as normal, but two weeks? That’s a good question. We did a whole story with actors who dealt this in different ways [the imminent end of the world], but when it came to editing it wasn’t strong enough. We started over when the pandemic hit and since I live in Finland and the other guys are in Sweden I had to invent something at home. We had to re-film the entire thing and I had to do my part from my house. We have a really cool part that I’m singing through these polaroids and we would not have come up with that if we were together. I do not hate things with strict limitations. It pushes your creative boundaries.” Yeр, unlike the Colossus, they had to reshoot the meaning part, whereas in the Colossus - the performance of the band. Main riff wait for use kinda about 20 years, since first Avatar days. By the way, rejected clip idea turned into On the Beach song! From Dance Devil Dance album. Based on self-titled novel by Nevil Shute. Last months of few humankind in nuclear apocalypse.

Hope my question does not offend you but what is your ethnicity? Your accent is so fascinating! As to the video-fantastic visuals, awesome blend of ancient and modern symbolism, epic music and the thrilling throat singing, love the traditional instruments, esp the mongolian axe guitar and horsehead fiddle.
