Gang mistakes made here: 1) take the sinks out. Mainly for if you ever need to take them out or replace them. You won’t if it’s epoxied. 2) with keeping the sinks in, you’ll get contamination rings that come out.
I definitely should have used the top coat. This countertop was a temporary fix. Would definitely recommend top coat for people that want to make the epoxy last.
My only problem with these walls is that everyone is doing them. I literally just watched another video with the exact same wall, even the same color I wouldn't do it because I believe the trend won't last and then how do you remove it?
I do my house the way I like it and not based on trend. Now if I was to sell the house and had to remove the wall. It would actually be easy since I used finish nails vs liquid nail. Basically score the caulk so it doesn’t tear off the drywall. Then remove the mdf panels with a trim remover. Fill in the pin holes and sand it down 😊
Definitely panel on the other side too. It looks unfinished with only one. And definitely carpeted or wood with a runner - sincerely someone who fell down slippery wood stairs as a kid a lot 😂
I thought with the handrail it would look more balanced. I’m 50:50 on paneling the other side or not. Thinking to order the handrail and see how it looks. If it’s not balanced then add the panel. 😂 Im sorry lol we used to slide down our carpet stairs and it was a blast. Even though I’m not a fan of carpet but it would probably be better for kids and pets.
That was the original plan. I thought the handrail would have enough going on that it would balance the walls. What stair do you think would be good? Vinyl, wood stained to match the vinyl in the house, or 1/2 carpet look like picture at the end?
@@TanushasDIYHomeProjects Make the stairs vinyl because it will tie the flooring together better. you don't want different flooring indifferent areas, it looks cheap. However, i would put a traction strip on the edge of each step because when vinyl gets dusty, it gets SLIPPERY. Take that from person experience. Even if it looks clean, it can be a slip hazard for stairs. so if you put those traction strips on, especially against the grey vinyl, it will look like an aesthetic choice, not just a safety mechanism.
That’s actually a really good idea. Because carpet won’t last long with kids and pets. Honestly the only reason why I tore out the carpet previously is because my dog decided that was the only good spot in the house to take a dookie, in the middle of the night. I wasn’t a fan of vinyl only because of it being a hazard with kids. I seen some clear tread slip things for stairs on Amazon. Have you used the traction strips before?
@@TanushasDIYHomeProjects I have them in my house with my toddler granddaughter. She has been walking for about a year, and while I still go with her up and down stairs, the traction gives her a very good grip. My husband has mobility issues, so those strips take away the fear of him falling.
Thanks for your opinion. My question is what was I supposed to do in your opinion with the wainscoting? The material I used was extra trim I had from the remodel in my house.
Need so opinions!! Keep right side wall blank or add paneling?? For stairs should I do vinyl, 1/2 carpet, or forgot to mention wood and stain cloest to the vinyl?? I have little kids and pets. I’ve heard vinyl stairs are very slippery.
I’m doing this with my vanity and I’m worried about what you mention with the briarsmoke gel stain over the glaze.. do you think there’s another way to achieve this look?
So I’ve tried using a latex dark grey paint diluted with water. It also works. The glaze can also rub off with the latex paint. The main thing when adding the line to not soak your brush. After the glaze drys, you want to keep the brush mostly dry and very lightly feather the lines on. Then lightly wipe with dry cloth. You don’t want to over work the surface.
@@TanushasDIYHomeProjects how long did you let the java stain dry before applying briar smoke? Would waiting for java to be fully dry would that make it easier?
Thats a beautiful table and I admire the way you handle the power tools. I need to make a table and asked my hubby to teach me how to work the saw and he frightened me with saying that I'm going to loss a finger or two.
I have a personality trait that when I see someone do something I automatically think I can do it too.lol I watched a video of the basics of a table saw. I used to be nervous to use a table saw. The best way to learn, for me, trying it myself. Never looked back. Always be safe though😘🥰
Installing cabs and thought I'd just cut out the bottom of an 18" cabinet w/drawer and simply slide the typ trash can in there tile floor and all. Now I'm PLAM'n some 1/2" panels to put inside with a top to separate the drawer. This makes it all easy cleaning. So what if you see the bottom of the trash at the toe kick below the door.
I just used stonecoat countertops ultimate top coat glossy version and I’m pretty happy with it, it’s not super shiny like a flood coat is but it makes it more durable …..”totally awesome cleaner” works well on stains
