It feels like you semi-dislike the blossom build. Mostly because of the RNG but the game priorities those who need healing more. I didn't hear you state this ever in this guide. (Sorry if I missed you saying that) So, it is not like it jumps to someone with full health. (Unless everyone is already capped out). Then in that sense, it is just overhealing and you have no control over that. However, I don't see that really much of a burden and other healers are pulling their weight. I would say blossom build is a great starting raid spec to learn the class and understand what spells do, then move to echo build as you climb difficulties.
Hello! I actually ran the blossom build the entirety of last tier and had a great time with it. It may not have been explicitly said in the video, but the blossom build is for “beginners” and the Echo build more so for skilled and experienced healers with the class. I say the blossom build is significantly easier to pick up and understand compared to the echo build out of the box, but it punishes the player harshly by being so mana inefficient. Yes, the spec and spells are easy to do, but if you don’t plan ahead and know when to NOT hit blossom, you will quickly run out of mana and become a useless healer.
Hey Valiath have you been able to use that dispell weakaura you showcased in your healer addons video in season 4? I really found it a huge help from my keys gameplay but cant get it to work this season:(
@@ValiathGaminglol that’s fair! It’s a dispel aura that puts a glow around the players frame in party or raid when they have a dispel able debuff on them
yessir that is the one! I tried updating to the season 4 version and I can’t get it to show up. I’m guessing you haven’t been using it so far this season?
Might be a strange request, what do you bind your clicks to? I only really do PvP so don’t click people to heal and not really sure what would be the most fluid and want to get into PvE and feel like you need to click the frames especially for raiding!
Hello! Not a strange question at all! I use an addon called Vuhdu, which has the ability to make whatever spells you chose be mouseover onto the unit frames. It is very easy to do a basic setup of it and there are millions of guides out there if you want to get fancy with it :)
@@ValiathGaming oh I get you, I only healed a +6 HOI last week but it was terrifying 😀 went fine without major issues, but I was panicking the whole time whereas in your vid everything has a nice flow, a rhythm. Do you plan on doing some dungeon guides in the future with some healing tips? So hard to find content for prevokers for some reason 😕 cheers from Hungary 🙂
@@Vicalanis hello! Yeah it was a really good group I ran with that used their own defensives well to help me out. It’s tough, my heart rate was crazy lol. Yes! What I normally do is run dungeons and then I will do a video where I walk through each and every pull and talk about the decisions I am making. I have gotten some good feedback about those types of videos in the past :) People are scared of prevokers as they aren’t the most intuitive and straight forward healer to master. This season though, they are looking very strong in both M+ and in Raid. Hopefully more people will try it :)

You’re right, evoker was so confusing when I started and was so sure the echo build was just too difficult in raids that I didn’t even try it, so I just stuck to blossom. With the new tierset I was ‘forced’ to use the echo build though and I simply fell in love with the spec again, I seem to even have better results than what I had in S3 with blossoms, so not looking back :) I also tried to have a go with my previous healers (mw and hpriest) but whenever I’m playing them I feel something is lacking. Then I hop on my evoker again and everything is peachy. Well, except for the range and the goofy dracthyr form of course :D

I've watched so many guides, but my man!! Yours is the best one, very detailed, i like hlw you break down the two builds and explained how that works!!! I know this guide is for season 3, but hopefully you can do for the new season.

I will probably make a quick update to this one, the good thing is that as it seems right now, the two builds will still be relevant but with the change in tier set it is likely that the echo reversion build will be more potent. The skill ceiling of it is still higher than big blossom though so keep that in mind.

Worth pointing out that you should ALWAYS run devo aura as hpal, even if there's another paladin in group providing it. This so you get the extra damage reduction from aura mastery.

Yeah I am hoping they make some serious improvements to the spec. It feels quite slow and weak currently. It is only day 1 of the PTR so a lot can still change but based on what blizzard has been doing so far, Holy Paladin doesn’t seem to be on their radar at all.
Is this still accurate? I saw on wowhead that Light of Dawn is a big part of raid healing, but then I talked to mythic raiders in the pally discord who said they almost never cast Light of Dawn because it's so weak it's not worth using WoG for more single target. Any time i use LoD in raid it feels incredibly weak. Kinda confused if I'm doing something wrong?
Hello! The only time you would ever use LoD or WoG is when you have at least 2 stacks of blessing of dawn :) without the buff that talent provides, our holy power spenders are just too weak. I believe I noted that in the video as well :)

Hello! The changes in season 3 to the spec has been challenging. I have gotten used to the playstyle by now but I am not a fan of the caster style of healing. Holy Paladin has always been primarily a melee healer with strong instant casts and powerful CDs. The issue is we were so overpowered in season 2 and blizzard nerfed us to the ground in season 3 and it feels kind of bad to be honest. Our holy power spenders are inconsequential the majority of the time and what we can do in 4-5 GCDs other healers can achieve in 2. The spec can be played at a high level for sure, but since the majority of the player base does not have a dedicated group to play with, doing key levels in the 24+ range in pugs gets iffy quickly. We live and die on a 45 second cycle with daybreak and divine toll, and if large amounts of damage comes in back to back you have very little you can do about it but spam flash of light and pray that your group uses personal defensives. I am hoping that they do something about this on season 4, and for sure for the next expansion. The hero talents look promising but I have yet to see anything that will help us with sustained healing over a longer period of time. Once our combo is done we run out of steam pretty fast which increases the risk of deaths substantially. I love the class and spec but wish we had some more healing spells/mechanics that help us bridge the gap between combo cycles. Burst damage is a real thing blizzard is including in all content now, and if you don’t have direct healing tools available to deal with several of those cycles for a long period of time you will likely fall behind fast.

Actually, it’s the opposite. All of these talents and what they provided do NOT add any more buttons to activate. It is actually one of the only specs that is void of any added bloat whatsoever.
Eternal flame has potential, but the hot component needs to be only supplementary. Big initial heals and tiny hots are what i want. our hots should be just powerful enough to slow down rot damage and dots in between spenders but they should not be the main mode of healing. We can't become a hot class; i can make a druid for that. I fell in love with the big burst healing of hpal. the big word of glories and light of dawns. now it feels like we have a lot of spells but they each do so little with each global. before the rework and nerfs you could pool holy power for big burst healing if you needed to, but now it just doesnt matter. in shadowlands divine toll used to do about the same healing as daybreak and divine toll do together now. bring back the power of spenders and the lotm build. spot healing feels good hots dont
I agree with all of this! So long as these hots are supplementary to the initial delivery method/spell I am good with it. WOG needs to be meaty and if I so happen to get a nice hot as a result, great!
Honestly was not really a fan of the talent tree until the final node. I much prefer the slower heavy healing game play over the more HOT based style of play, but having wings be an actual healing CD could make things very interesting
Yeah I’m with you there as well, I really hope they find a good balance with all of these talents compared to our core abilities. I want my holy shocks and wogs to feel impactful when I use them, not just a delivery system of some hot.

I admire your courage.I m only a KSH/Aotc player and tried Thicket/Tides 19s and it feels so frustratingly undertuned compared to my disc priest. Might reroll to tank next season.
Yeah it’s rough out there man. Holy Paladin feels very weak at these key levels and it is very hard to keep up with damage in a pug group. Things that take 1-2 spells for other healers takes us like 4-5, which many times means someone dies. Even worst is that we have to use our CDs practically all the time for general healing, meaning they aren’t up all the time when you really need them. Holy paladins desperately needs a retune, it’s very weak at them moment on higher keys :(

is light of dawn not a thing anymore? when should it be used? also how do you know what blessings to use on yourself or a team mate? i know blessing of winter on yourself for the mana regen but the others? just cast on yourself the whole time?
Hey Rocky! So light of dawn is not used in a dungeon environment these days, just raid. It is quite weak to begin with, but the need to aim it into your allies makes it quite difficult to get full value from considering you will be in melee a lot, meaning your ranged allies will likely not get any healing from it. Regarding blessings, I suggest you checking out my holy Paladin guide (link below) where I go over this :).
