Yes, it makes better shape on the end as you will go round-ish by accident. Head is very delicate and not easy part, with curved scissors and use them backwards on a straight portions helps to not round by accident and at the neck only with this type of scissors you can make tricky shape - from neck to the top of the head , you need to even make MORE CURVE at the beginning, as later your will get the box , but if you will cut from neck to the top head STRAIGHT you will loose the beauty . Try in between of your shows , if needed let me know and I will show the video on a dog who is not showing what is the different between curvy scissors and straight (again, professional groomers can make all of that even with Manicur Schissors 😀). But we all have a full time jobs and this is solid hobby to each of us ❤️
good content, but Video views are very low. only uploading a video will not bring you views needs some technical effort. main efforts must be in the SEO option. If you make at least a 75+ score video will run better results.
Sure! The best way to start is to read about SHAPING TECHNIQUE and Clicker - the best tools. Tricks make dog’s brain occupied and on the same time make them more obedience and it will work on a most important task - strong bond owner-dog! Let me know if you have questions - as I am certified Trick instructor and can guide you❤️
The most important - socialization from day one, grooming from day 1 - comb, nails with treats and happy voice. A lot of BRT later give no chances to trim nails, groom them, etc. of course, I will recommend you to assign puppy to school 3-4 times a week if possible as at least 3-4 hours a week you will work under certified instructor and follow routine training at least for 2-3 years ❤️
@@blackrussianterrierincanad2317 I actually am a groomer that'll be fully groomed once a week including bath, blow dry, line brushing and setting the pattern at my place of work. And I checked with the breeder to make sure they're exposed to the high velocity, dremel, clippers and other such tools. I'm helping with evaluating the litter and will be attending confirmation classes with the intention of titling as much as possible. Our local club is consistent with classes on scent work, barn hunt and my chosen trainer is helping with evaluating the pup's potential for bitework. So much to look forward to.
@@blackrussianterrierincanad2317 I honestly mostly use to poodles. Who I tend to do a full groom once a week with. So a fully bearded breed will be an interesting challenge. I'm looking forward to mastering the clip. I mostly just work with poorly-bred doodles nowadays.
Now LETNYAYA NOCHKA (Facebook nickname - she is a Black Russian Terrier Breeder in Europe) sell them and send all over the world (they are all custom made, I have for 10 years the same, nothing happened to it) . Just write her a message-request; and she will send it to your house.
That rake (from Europe) is very helpful for very matted coat. Sometimes I have to groom BRT with extremely heavy undercoat, and owners struggle to clear the coat but want to keep BRT in a full coat. I use that rake to take apart very tide knots instead of cutting them out
It's much less tedious and much less discomfitting for the dog, if the dog's coat is simply taken down rather than trying to break through and remove mats, which can be quite large and tight on the BRT dog. My dog is currently matted. I intend to take him to a veterinary hospital to be groomed and simultaneously vaccinated. (He will not allow vets to go near him under normal circumstances, but he loves to be groomed. The Chris Christensen products like Ice On Ice are excellent. Also the Coat Handler is another excellent detangler. Keep in mind that a healthy BRT dog's coat grows fast -- around one inch per 3 days. It varies. The head and legs grow slower, esp. the mustache and beard. Usually it takes 5.5 months for the coat to grow back, after it has been taken down -- but the facial hair takes longer. The rear legs may take longer. The tail may take longer. A lot depends on the dog's diet and overall health.
Thank you AliceAnn, you can also see how I do more detailed here (I show how to open layers to take undercoat out easily). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MpdmH41BIII.htmlsi=tLMKGeTebsBH339c I agree with you, weekly brushing can simply make coat very beautiful and easy to brush. I prefer on a table as I can sit on my chair and slow by slow open all areas and clear the undercoat They look very BLACK after this procedure
The same as we do , we use conditioner for keeping hair detangled, smooth, easy to comb. Let’s look at the coat first! If your BRT has harsh coat (old type); those puppies most of the cases not matting . I have female with this type of coat. I use conditioner for her legs only as she has very rich hair and in a winter with all that salt I need to protect her hair from drying . Puppies with soft coat (show dogs , most of this days ) require conditioner to support the hair from breaking and matting as soft coat can be easily matted If you gave combined coat I will use in a beard to keep protected layer from water, food and on a kegs from matting In winter I use also puppy plush oil for the legs as well to keep long hair in a better condition In the summertime, I don’t use much conditioner to not make hair too heavy and not to attract more dust to it
Oh, interesting. I'd never seen that "box" described before. We never found the right groomer for our Black Russian so I keep him trimmed, but he's not a show dog. The right haircut though, really shows them off. Your guy is very handsome.
Thank you, you can check my playlist for grooming elements (head, neck, etc) sometime people ask me to make special video to help them to groom dogs themself at home This is the link to playlist ru-vid.com/group/PL0XuN3GCxwOM5AHyutKGmEGrDyrhGnbE8&si=QwXVzgYw1R4vvEHM
Thank you very much! Just make session short - let’s say today only body, tomorrow front legs, day after tomorrow head, etc. just to make them happy, use treats when you see they agreeing annoyed by the standing ❤️ easy and beautiful . Remember - good washing and drying is 90 % of beautiful grooming, wash him twice . And let them air dry first for and hour, later take the dryer and dry out (dry hair up , it will be easier to make “plush look”)
Where can I purchase the double rake for removing mats (1:32)that you purchase from Russia? Love how considerate of how the BRT’s feel while you are grooming them!
Last year I found kind of super comb here : canadiangroomingdistributor.com/collections/combs/products/aaronco-honeycomb-double-row-finisher Check the brand HONEYCOMB This brand has awesome combs for undercoats Another example canadiangroomingdistributor.com/collections/combs/products/aaronco-honeycomb-802 If I will find out who is selling the comb you are looking for I will put link here
Thank you for replying. The Aaronco Rake Superior is close to the one being pictured but I would rather have the one pictured in the video from Russia. The wide tooth comb is nice as well. This rake looks like it’s from Enter The Dragon 🐉❤ I’ll be waiting while you conduct your search and thank you again!
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT video!!! 👏👏Thank you sooooo much for doing this! It is EXACTLY what I was looking for as a pet owner of a (now) 8 month old BRT boy. I love the detail you go into, sharing the links and describing the tools you are using. Also love the "it's only hair, it will grow back" comment. 😊One question... my clipper came with a #10 blade and my guide combs will work with a #10, #15 or #30. What is the difference when using a #10 under combs as opposed to a #30 blade? Thank you again!
I prefer blade #30; it is much better clipping with it one more tip: when you follow the clipper direction, the hair grows - it will be longer hair cut. If you use a clipper against the hair growth - it will be short sport cut! It means the same attachment can be used for two different lengths 😊 About “hair will grow,” - my mom says, «Hair is not the legs(!) it can grow 😂- I just skip the “legs” to be polite in case somebody can be hurt by that ❤ I always complained when my mom cut my hair all my childhood about the style she did 😂 on my head
@@blackrussianterrierincanad2317 😂😂My mom did the same thing... short 'boy' cuts on 5 girls, guess it was just easier that way haha. Thank you for answering my question! I guess a #30 blade is in my future lol
@@blackrussianterrierincanad2317 She is beautiful!!! Looking to get one within 2024.... If you don't mind me asking one more question... what is the average amount/range for one?
@@blackrussianterrierincanad2317 Thank you so much for this information, someone I found close to my area is asking 5K just making sure it wasn't something to over price. Look forward to see more from Filiberta
i am SO glad i found your channel!! im 16 and we have a 9 month old black russian! she is an AKC comformation champion so now i want to teach her some cool tricks! im just lost where to start. my labrador ive taught many many things like rebound, airplanes, sit pretty and so much more but my brt is huge and clumbsy so im doing a lot of reasearch
I can recommend you to check my PLAYLIST - training , where I have a lot of small elements for the puppies (I have now puppy 10 months old as well at home and I do more video with her this days to show some practical and helpful elements for future obedience sport ) Also check web site DoMoreWithYoirDog.com - they have special page with videos how to teach dog some tricks - which is the most important for puppies - to start using their owner brain. Thank you for your comment! Any time - any questions!
Hello! From 3k to 7k depends on a puppy, generation lines, purpose of buying - breeding, show or just a pet ❤️ like any pure breed puppies sold by different price, some of them even free when they re-home, or opposite keep in a kennel but live in a puppy owner family ❤
Thank you so much for this video! Im actually doing the opposite of doodling a BRT... Im giving my poodle mix a black russian terrier trim! This is helpful for growing out, I like not having the skirt but I will include the fall 😁
For young puppies who is not a showing dog and for the BRT owners who wants to start grooming at home in a easy way For show cut and maintenance please check another my videos 😉 Thank you for the comment and happy holidays🎄
My mom is telling me my dog is not russian terrier because is to small and that Russian terrier are usually big but my dog is a small so can someone tell that small Russia dog are thin or like different dog type
Black Russian Terriers can be “small”, it happened as with any other breeds. Females can be 79-80 lb, males can be 90-110 lb. A lot of nuances - genetic, food, environment. The most important is to love your dog and enjoy this beautiful companion 🙂 have fun as we do - dance, tricks , they like it a lot ❤
I as usually don’t even use any ear cleaning liquids, but I found that eye solution of this specific brand is containing boric acid (dry out effect and very gentle ; chamomile - anti inflammatory ; witch hazel to dehydrate .. Look at the contains elements: VETOQUINOL EYE CARE - COMPOSITION Rose water, witch hazel, sodium borate, boric acid, natural plant extracts (Calendula officinalis, Euphrasia officinalis (eyebright), matriarca recutita (chamomile)), methylene blue, buffered adjuvant (pH = 7.4) If I see some shaking head, I just use ear powder If I see little but wetness I use eye solution of this brand If I see really bad ears I use apple vinegar with water 1:3; pure to the ear - massage and let the dog shake the head (they will shake crazy for couple minutes; every second day that “torture “ and fungus will be killed) The best way to keep ear out of trouble in BRT is to keep them dry - that is why my old BRTs don’t have any ears infection - I always apply the layer of ear powder after swimming, and rainy day Another good tip - if ears is in a Good shape don’t even clean them with any products (no plucking, no cleaning if dogs immune system does work itself) Just my own experience 😉
Neck and butt - #7; ears - #10 . For the body I use scissors but if you have pet BRT , not a show dog you need stainless steel attachments to your clipper (for example this one Wahl Canada Stainless Steel Guides with Caddy, Fits #30 Ultimate & Competition Series Blades, Convenient Storage Stand with lid, for Pets - Model 58247 a.co/d/0YbMyp1) and try different to find your favourite shortness
I love your channel - your videos are so informative and helpful. One question... do you only do show grooms? I would appreciate if you could post a video on a pet groom with a bit of a shorter coat and with special attention to the head and face. I am just beginning to home groom my 7 month old BRT. Thank you!!
Thank you! For sure, I have one BRT coming for pet grooming - the owner is not willing to keep show grooming and want so short that they don’t need to do maintenance for long time - I will make a video and will add it to the channel shortly 👍 I will show couple Fast techniques for the BRT owners 😉
I have seen that you are a person who makes amazing videos on youtube. Although your video quality is very good but your are not getting good views. Because we found some issue for your video Your video tittle is not SEO friendly Don't have tags for your video Don't have meta tags in the description keywords and descriptions are not Optimized
You can start to learn yourself slow by slow by video on RU-vid as to grooming BRT is too expensive - check my videos as well in a play list GROOMING YOU can also ask me to load the video for special areas where you have dificultes
You’ll save yourself a lot of money by buying a grooming table and a quality set of clippers. I’ve been grooming my guy the last couple of years and getting better every time.
Depends where I use it - let's say in a show rings SOFT BUT NOT CRUNCHY (as an example hot dogs in a portions); at home or class - dry liver but not the hard one, outside for training - any as I don’t care if it will drop by accident (crunchy or others type). If your dog is really food motivated you can even use kibbles - let’s say dental kibbles as a treat! On the same time you will treat and work on a teeth cleaning
Check my PLAY LIST WITH VIDEO for training This is an example for puppy and platform ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AQb0PoAOELc.htmlsi=tfITIpm_1k5avOsb
My Black Russian was gromded more like the Schnauzer,I was told by my groomer that mine was the dirtiest but the best behaved Black Russian she dealt with.
The most important to have trained BRTs as they extremely powerful and decision makers- that is why it is more important to know how to control them at the different points of life. GROOMING - is just a comfort ( a lot of BRTs are shaved , only some kept in a show coats all life) Thank you for been so responsible owner❤️
Love your puppy training videos... well, ALL of your videos, but with a 4 mo BRT pup, the training and grooming ones are especially helpful!! Thank you for your excellent content!! ❤
Thank you! She is 6 months now 🌺 and all day long she swims non stop as I need to build muscles (giant breed needs swimming exercises as this is the most gentle “gym” for those monsters! Pretty soon it will be cold days; and we will start our obedience routine forward to her teenager obedience (platform work, to work on her flexibility and back spine muscles)
Like a poodle - they don’t shed, but you need to wash them and comb them. Sometimes they have softer coat and you can have some matting. Depends on a dog, as the breed species have different type of the coat - harsh, soft, and in between. We are likely have harsh and half harsh. Helps a lot, but I do groom other BRTs and some of them have a lot of knots to work on
I love your videos! ❤They are so helpful for home grooming. I like that you show which tools you are using!! I do not show my BRT and will keep him with a short coat and beard (gasp for all the 'classic' BRT look lovers - sorry ;-) lol)
Hello! Yes, I breed, train and love this breed. You can send me an email and I will send you the puppy form to fill up. I send puppies to any province in Canada, the most important part that the breed feeds your needs, interests, etc. You can call me as well check my phone and I do on our website BlackRussainTerrierCanada.com
I really enjoy watching your raw food video ideas. Couple of questions for you. I noticed your ground beef, tripe and chicken/fish raw from other videos is always so red and fresh looking. Do you grind it yourself or purchase from a local store in your area? Also why do you like quail eggs over chicken?
We have farms around who prepare frozen ground beef, port, lamb, chicken , turkey and they sell them $1-3 per lb. Easy and very convincing, I don’t buy meat at the store as they chemically worked out to keep the colour for consumers. When I have some steak fresh I realize dog s reacting on it with Soft stool . For the eggs, more fat, more protein - and less allergic for any dogs. Thank you very much for your questions! Just shop around farms, they always have great meat for dogs
she is getting better and better :) check this couple months later after this video - she is 10 months old now ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GzxUyxN3Om4.html
Couple weeks , it really worked… no idea how but the teeth now at 8 years old have no sediments . I spray directly to the teeth. Now I don’t, as teeth are still clean already couple month - no sediments yet
