Can you set the bridge radius?
@msmith7462
@msmith7462 День назад
I like the fixed radius of the TOM bridge. Another option would be to drop a Fender Mustang/Jag/JM bridge on top of your Tele bridge plate. The Mustang/Jag/JM bridge has a much lower profile and would require much less customization than a true TOM. Admittedly, I haven't tried this or measured for this so there might be issues with the strings hitting the back of the bridge if it's a string-thru, but it's worth considering. Hmmm... Maybe I'll try it out on a Squier Tele; that's why we buy them, right?

Is it ok to use more than one layer of Teak Oil? also is it ok to use an oil based Varnish after oiling to really seal the wood? Im asking because i accidentally sanded the varnish of my Ibanez AZ neck and I used Teak Oil because I thought Ibanez necks had just oil but it seems they use some kind of varnish..

Yes you can layer it or just go straight to the varnish. Personally I like using Odies oil on my necks these days.

@@BradAngove You're right, spraying matte clear on the primer made it look like a regular matte black finish. Looks like it's back to using a scratch pad, unless you have another idea? I guess I can use a "chalkboard" type paint, but wouldn't spraying matte clear on it cause the same issue?

I’m happy with how I did the board, but I do kind of wish I got one with more space for between the pedals, particularly because the power source is underneath and you can’t attach pedals over where it is. That’s the main thing. Other than that it’s really just a matter of preference where you put them.

How do you decide whether to attach the neck to the body and finish as one whole assembly versus finishing the neck and body separately then attaching them together? Does it matter?
@BradAngove
@BradAngove 12 дней назад
On a set neck you would always glue first in my opinion. You need to glue wood to wood, so you would have to tape off the finish and you’d have a seam if you did them separately. It would also be tough to match the lines properly and I suspect the gluing step would damage the finish when you put all that pressure on it.

Thanks for the great video Brad, you sure do a great job on your builds. When clamping the neck to the body,could you use a block that has slots in it to go over the frets instead of on top of the frets? Thus eliminating the risk of fret compression. Or do you think that is over kill and really unnecessary?
@BradAngove
@BradAngove 12 дней назад
If you have a radius block that matches the frets I would think that would be unnecessary, but it’s a good idea and I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work.
