I have this issues with mine. Dismantling it I found a resistor to be burned out on the motor control board. R 1. this is a common fault. The resistor value is 2.55 ohmes. (2R55). Hard to find in single quantities Ebay is probably the best source .

Great video, thanks. Weak design by Miele. I accidently dislodged the plastic bag holder sprung mechanism and having failed to reattach it, improvised thus: - loop a suitable length elastic band around the thin green loop which is part of the bag opening. Push the opening of the bag over and up as far as it will go onto the black feeder tube which channels the dirt into the bag. Pull the elastic band through the top of the cover and close the cover as usual. Then attach the elastic band to the round selector knob showing Deep Pile, etc keeping it taut. Its as least as reliable as the original Miele mechanism and easy to change the bag.

There is a simple solution to this howling or screaming filter. Basically what has happened is that the black rubber seal that surrounds the filter has flattened. The solution is to remove the black rubber seal and place it in a bowl of boiling hot water for a few minutes. Remove it and then stretch out the skirt of the seal to make it flare out more. You can even turn it inside out as if you are folding it back on itself. Do this all the way around the seal in order to make it fatter. You can use a little washing up liquid to make it easier to slide your thumb around it as you do it. One you have flared it out more give it a gentle dry and re-install. Repeat the process if it needs more flaring. No silicone grease needed. 😉

I just inherited an extremely noisy (high pitched whine) DC25. I disassembled the whole thing and cleaned it up so that it looked good as new. Still with the whine tho. I put a bead of silicone grease around the (original) motor filter and now it sounds normal! Thank you!

my bottom filter appears just as new as when I bought it. I can see the light shining through. I almost wonder if it's not even being filtered though there. I've cleaned the upper filter 2 or 3 times since.

Great diagnostic video, thanks. Mine has 250v, the motor spins and the brush goes round, but any resistance i.e. carpet, it stops. The belt seems tight on the mechanism. Do you think the motor is passed it ?

All you people, should have just bought yourself a 'Sebo' upright. Hospital grade filtration, automatic height adjust, and its BAGGED, no more dirty Dyson Filters to wash, no more dirty dust bin to clean ,, Same Price 😎 2min bag change and your done, good to go. How long to wash and wait for Dyson to dry. Damp filters cause Bacteria, which produce the Nasty odour in your vacuum. Worse if you have pets. Only trying to help. 👍

It's much easier, and cleaner to just put a bit of string around the inside of the seal just to expand the seal a little more, it's the no mess version of getting the seal back

Rubber seal on mine seems to be glued to the plastic part on one side but I see gaps on the other side. Is it supposed to be glued all the way around? If so, what glue can I use to reattach the seal back.
@TheYank67

That's the design Dyson intended. I used screen spline to fill that gap in the seal by cutting the spline to fit, pushing it inside the gap, then reinserting the entire filter unit back into the ball of the Dyson. So far, so good. Hope this helps.

Please show that the cover as it closes the two tangs engage the green bag holder and secures and lifts the bag into place. We couldn’t figure that part out at first.

You use another vacuum cleaner to clean the filter, brush etc. Guess what ? Most normal people only have ONE vacuum cleaner. It would have been good to offer another option.
