I have one of these 2017 tdi 3.0 272 bhp its at 82k very strong. However, the timing chain is rattling and its recently had a coolant leak,I had to replace the coolant control valve, water pump and egr valve, that reapir cost me 1.2k. As for the timing chain, that is a 3k job but im gonna leave it and sell it for the next owner to splash on this money pit 😂
This is exactly the type of video I was looking for doing my research. What works, What doesnt, and what you would do better. This is a perfect showcase video. Nice car Daniel
I just seen this channel has under a thousand subscribers im shocked cause for only watching 2 videos on an old Audi im hooked, what do you think are you going to delete it?
You have no idea how happy this comment made me! I actually have another Audi video pretty much finished and a few other projects that I’m trying to figure out what to do with! The current thought with the Audi is that because of the miles it’s pretty much worthless, and I can’t see anyone giving me what it’s worth to me. So if I’m married to it, I might as well delete it and maybe wrap it a cool color or something
It only works on the 2016 models, but there’s a thread somewhere on audizine or Audi forums that goes through it. Basically you download a software update to an sd card and install it to mmi. I remember it being surprisingly technical, but there were a lot of people who offered to do it remotely for like $80
I'd leave it be and enjoy it or tune it. For youtube views, tuning it is going to get more attention. Check your local laws regarding emissions equipment, especially prior to posting on youtube. I had a BMW 335D years ago and loved the power and fuel economy. But the BMW regularly wanted to check-in with the mother ship at the dealership and none of the local shops would work on the diesel beast. Before selling it, I cleaned the intake and replaced the MAF Sensor to clear a check engine condition. I couldn't believe the amount of crude the EGR had deposited on the intake, I scraped off loads carbon crude. Good luck, I hope you post more adventures about this car.
I live in AL, so minimal laws besides the federal ones and no emissions inspections! People here who delete diesels really only get hosed when they go to trade them in and the dealer doesn’t want to buy it! I’ve always wanted a 335D! That’s actually the car that got me into diesels - I was in high school at the time, watching loads of Top Gear wondering why we didn’t have diesels in America, and then bmw dropped the 335d! All these years later and I’ve still never driven one! I’m working on an update video now, been about a year with the car, I paint corrected it and basically rebuilt the front suspension chasing a small noise - she’s doing great!
To be fair those are dealer prices which is a ridiculously dumb place to service a car like this. Would be much more reasonable at an indy but still not even close to Europe prices
I enjoyed both videos on the Audi. I'm shopping for a daily driver and your story helped me to make comparisons of this luxury brand to mainstream brands that I have owned. Well done.
maybe get a motor and start a series of repairing it, then slowly joining the 1 million km club (probably gonna be the first one of its kind) and try to get it back to audi to see if they will replace this with a new one (maybe not, but worth a shot)
I'm just amazed he still brought it to Audi for maintenance and he managed not to install the dieselgate software recall. Each time I bring a car to a dealer, they check recalls and correct them and I learn about it after the fact. I would've still done them anyways.
Seems like the guy built relationships with the service advisors and asked them to not get it done. Since they are the ones who make the service sheet for the techs to know what to do.
Felt him when it came to the diagnostics. It is very annoying by and disappointing. People at shops will have you there thinking they’re checking everything out and whole time they’re not doing everything that they could. Then charge you a buttt amount of money
my 100 LC has 285/65r18 worn tires, thinking about going 275/70R18 Falken at4w, Will they fit under the LC as a spare? Discount tires website says ''These tires may not fit your vehicle.'' lol
my sub in my 100 series in blown, Trying to figure out what to do, Might go the oem sub route and have a land cruiser specialist install it dunno much on electrical
If you have an LX you can order a refoam kit from a company called Simply Speakers! It’s a good work around, cheap and halfway decent. The factory mark levinson sub is expensive and tbh sounds kinda crappy even new, and it’ll blow again. The factory system is also like 8ohm or something so you can’t just put an aftermarket one in there. Get a good audio shop and they’ll fix you up. If you have a Land Cruiser it’s a lot easier!
If you have a Land Cruiser I’m pretty sure it’s just a regular JBL system and the sub from Toyota is cheap and easy to install. It’s the LX that gives you issues lol
@@noctilucent7396 Oh dude no way -- theres a thread on the ih8mud forums but you can buy a refoam kit on ebay for like $40 and it's just some glue. I'd never spend $450 on a stock sub
I' m Spanish and have one of those, it's stage 1 tuned, with 300 HP and 680 Nm of torque, and it's a beast!!!!!!! Just an sporty car with an incredible 25 MPG average fuel consumption. The problem of the tune is that the Stronic (here, in Spain, this car suites dual clutch trans) will suffer . But in your country, where suites the automatic trans (zf 8HP), the tune is a must!!!!!
You should go for Mercedes 123 200d , once a taxi driver gave me a ride he made 1 million kilometers with it then exchanged the motor and had 300 000km on it and people from Mercedes told him if he goes 1 million with a new motor they will give him a brand new car whichever he chooses
Definitely worth buying - my friend just bought one with 104k and has been driving it cross country. If you live in a state where you can get away with deleting it, the car becomes a lot more reliable (and efficient/faster). You might even still have warranty coverage audidiesellookup.com/ That all being said, and older European car probably isn’t the wisest thing to buy from an economic standpoint. You will absolutely do better with a Lexus product
Yup. That kind of repair $$$ always follows the dealerships and many shops, because they just assume, "This guy can afford a really nice Audi, he's not even going to question our 'diagnosis' and just swipe his credit card. I really hate how all these shops do that to clients. There ARE few shops that actually tell you exactly what's wrong with car in the diagnosis and how they arrived at that conclusion.
There is a really nice car and unique experience. With this high mileage this car is still in the mint conditions. I believe to dump this car would be the biggest sin))
Tbh, even if I scanned and for a history code for the oil pump, I would’ve assumed since it wasn’t actively throwing a code it wouldn’t have been something to worry about. In retrospect, I definitely heard a little chatter, but engine overall sounded and pulled healthy. I made a judgement call and was wrong and now I’m kinda buried in it, but honestly I enjoy the car so whatever 🤷♂️
