Interesting exercise. But Utterly purposeless. Been owning fooling with Saabs since 1984 and The 'plastic tips" (rubber actually) on DI cassettes have NEVER 'melted' As for your Balance shaft delete ? You really Don't Know what yer doing! Tap and plug the block at the Main bearing Oil feeds for the balance shafts. All else is Pointless.
Hi so I have a 2000 Saab 9-3 and about 4years ago I ported n polished the cylinder head and now the block is like rusted to death 💀. I was maybe thinking of doing a Frankenstein build and would like to know what would be the best set up to go with the ported b204 head . Maybe like a b207 block with the b204 head or can I use the 2.3L block with the 2.0L b204 ported head ? . Gd job on ur videos very clean and nice set up u have .
Sorry, I've been away dealing with life! i intend to come back in a few months to answer your question I'd try to transfer over the b207, if you join a page on Facebook called saabworx I'm sure someone will be able to help you out abit better than I can
Is there any way I can contact you if you're willing to give me few advices on engine swap, I'm planing to replace my Vectra B 1.6 16V with B204 so any help would be great, thanks in advance
thanks for posting these, I like the content, i would like to suggest you try and normalise the volume though, your music tracks are about 3 times louder than you voice over
Thanks for the solid advice im just learning the editing software as i go along I will do my research when im finally back to making the videos and will try and have the audio abit more less of an earphone destroyer! Cheers mate appreciate it alot!
Hi bro I also want to start a project this year or next year at the latest with the same engine but on a Vectra b but I don't know if I can handle it because I've never done this before, good luck, I appreciate what you're doing and come on with more videos😊😊🤗🤗
Hello bro, sorry about the reply I haven't been active on this due to recently buying a house in the past couple of months so im trying to do that up and move in, im hoping to get back to working on the car within the next 2 months or so once I'm in the house and mate definetly do it! I was in the same position as you are and knew nothing about engines until I've started rebuilding it, doing an engine swap is another level but you learn so much whilst doing it best bit of advice I can give is to just dive straight into it, don't be scared to make mistakes it's how we learn. Buy a haynes manual book on the saab engine will tell you everything you need to know and watch my vids 😉😂 but if you need any help when you get stuck just give me a message and i will try my best from what I've learnt across the way! All the best with your adventure!
Tbf the rebuild was quite easy just getting the fucker to fit is the pain 😂can't wait till i get to the wiring side aswell think I'll just jump off a cliff by then 😂
I wouldnt recommend the place I got it from bud, they sent the wrong spacer 2 times. Now he's moved country and trying to charge me fees to send it back for the one that should've been right first time! I'm just going to get one off ebay now. Just be aware of the port openings e.g the size of your intake and water jacket ports are the same size as the spacers.
@@DatBoiJosh nice one mate. Have you got Instagram at all? I'm doing a awd on my corsa b and will have a b234 engine. Just would like to keep the eye how you doing it if that's ok
Of course bud it's @dbjosh.98 and I'm currently going to put the engine in today and mock up the mounts but when I get back I'll check your channel out will be good to see a awd beast!
If you email parts for saab you're engine they'll give you the right ones, that's what I did. They tell you which ones go where, gap size etc on the packet
@@DatBoiJosh I thought I was missing something myself 😂 having some trouble with my b204 today things driving me insane but I'm leaving the UK tomorrow so no real time to work on it gutted. Anyway great work so far mate hope you get to enjoy it soon
@@DatBoiJosh on mine it's feeling like a fuel pressure problem. Once it's warmed up you can only drive it on minumum revs. If you give it a little it starts jerking violently and popping and banging. It all started after changing my injectors. It has been mapped to suit the new ones and I've changed coil pack. My 3 bar map sensor and even my fuel pump but its looking like I was sold a set of dodgy 875cc injectors. Prior I was running 630cc ones with no issues at all I only changed up as was going from Gt28 turbo upto a 30 but it never happened so I just had to map the new injectors in. Andrew Crank sorted that for me so I know that side of things are spot on. And no my engine now lives in a 07 vauxhall astra vxr. Its great fun but its been off the road that long now it's time to get it sorted.
Sounds like a fun toy when it's running and cant you just put the old injectors in and forget about those then since youre not going through with turbo upgrade now? Or cba for the remaps again
Hi bud, sorry for the delay in response if you want to remove the power stearing I'm not too sure on the length you'd need for it, have a look at the saab forums or saabworx on Facebook im sure someone's done something along those lines there. Sorry for not being much of a help! Hope you find what you need!
If you want the revs to work in the Corsa you will need to modify that bottom pulley (cut teeth marks) and keep the crank sensor + Corsa ECU or you can lathe a bit off the back of the balancer and fit a trigger wheel between the weight and pulley so it wont throw the belt out of line
Thanks for the advice, I've started looking into doing it now. Might be a silly question but why would the belt slip or come out of line without doing these mods?
@@DatBoiJosh The belt would only be out of line with a trigger wheel between the crank pulley and balancer weight, ie 4mm thick trigger needs 4mm off the back of the weight
I can see what to do, no issue with that mate just can't see how the belt would be out of line when it's an auxs belt surely if its tensioned correctly the belt wouldn't slip at all
ive only known 3 people who ever did this.it does retain heat, too much heat because all 3 people who wrapped iron manifolds had them crack within a year.the theory does work, but the metalurgy dont & they end up cracked & leaking anyway.
I didnt to be honest I just bathed the pistons in a Traffic Film remover bath then they came out good as new measured the races and all seemed to be in good order so I just replaced the piston rings and bearing caps.
Great video, good quality and well articulated. Curious though, I've watched three different videos about this, and no one mentions the diameter of the plugs you're using for the balance shafts.
Thank you I appreciate your feedback if you want you can just buy them here's the link sasautocustoms.co.uk/shop/379-saab-900-9-3-9-5-9000-b204-b205-b234-b235-balance-shaft-delete-kit.html
