To do this out of Lane 2 is ridiculous. Probably would still own the WR today if he had an outer lane. Interesting to note that this is faster through 200m (21.08) than he ever went through outdoors in any of his 400s (21.22 in 43.18 (1999 WCH) and 43.49 (1996 OG)
Correct - best indoor 400m ever run. And even this Atlanta track wasn't as fast as some of the ones out there today. He did go through 200m one hundredth faster the following year at indoor nationals (21.07), but his second lap was slightly slower and he finished in 44.66.
@@johnbyrnes1543He did. I posted 200+200 splits of all sub45 ever run indoors (plus Kerley's leadoffs) on my old twitter account. Interesting to see how aggressive people go through that first lap indoors
The first few minutes of this video feels like an early look into the Santa Monica / Michael Johnson feud that grew more hostile as the 90's progressed.

I remember staying up late watching the replays of these events in universal sports back when i was 12 . I was a Hurdler and huge fan of Dayron before David Oliver came into the scene
