Came in hoping to get a summary of the vibes of wotg-onward for FFXIV's upcoming release, but came out with motivation to really go in and finish this game. I completely agree about private servers. Great for archival, but very disrespectful and actively destructive to FF11's continued existence.
Through the comments section, I learned that most private servers include post-WOTG quality of life features like teleports, despite claiming they are trying to provide an "old school" experience. Keeping teleports but removing other content shows their general disrespect for the devs, in my opinion, and makes me have zero interest in supporting private servers unless they are truly acting as something archival. The versions of the game that exists on private servers never existed, and thus they are not archival in my book. Someday, when XI goes down, and I'll gladly play a private server that includes TVR and Trusts and the whole thing, but the picking and choosing of what they think is the "correct" XI is something that never actually existed and is a bunch of disrespectful elitism. I'm so so so glad that you are deciding to continue your XI journey based on this video. I couldn't be happier to hear that. Best of luck with your journey, mate! : )
I feel like the character designs in XIII are just trying to be the characters in X but not nearly as good. They feel like they’re trying if that makes sense instead of just existing.
I don't really feel that. To me, it feels like the designs in XIII are Nomura just doing what he does, but he decided to scale back after how over-the-top he went in X. If anything, it felt like Nomura was trying to balance being iconic with subtle.

In case it wasn't clear in the last video: BSR has now become our "Random Number Generator" music until we run out of BSR songs. If the BSR song is good enough to warrant a full reaction, we'll do that BSR song. If it isn't, we'll skip it and do a random song from the list (Thin Lizzy/Phil solo/Grand Slam/Blue Murder/21 Guns/Etc). This way, we can still do the few remaining BSR songs that are actually worthwhile but we don't have to dedicate a full week to mediocre material. So, the song that came up this week from BSR was good enough to get a full reaction, and thus it did. I recorded a bunch of these in advance, so while there are some BSR songs that got full reactions, there were some I decided to skip because I felt they weren't worth our time. The BSR songs I do decide to do full reactions to are ones I think are worth looking at.

@@quolizzy1554 No, I'll be upfront and say whether or not the BSR song gets a full reaction. If you look at the upcoming videos on the channel, if the BSR song gets a full reaction, it means I listened to one verse and one chorus and decided it was good enough to get a full reaction. If you see a song coming up that isn't BSR, that means I listened to the verse and chorus of whatever BSR song was on the list, decided it wasn't worth our time, and skipped to a Thin Lizzy/Phil solo song. So, basically, if you see a BSR reaction, it means it's one of the better and/or more interesting ones that is actually worth taking a look at it. But, in the Thin Lizzy reactions, you'll get to see me reject the BSR song as not being worth our time.

I think it was - not bad. After so many BSR reactions, I've lost the ability to hear Ricky Warwick's voice without immediately switching off, but that's no reason to stop giving them a chance on the channel. Something might still turn up. That said, Valley of the Kings by Blue Cheese is better than this, and that band doesn't lie very far above the bottom of the barrel.

They're all quality. VI is still great, just not leaps and bounds better than everything else (and thus is overrated as that is how most fans treat it). I agree that VII and X are extremely high quality for sure.
No. A few months after the videos came out I went through the lists out of curiosity to see where things landed. I looked at which ones came in first place, which ones came in last place, which ones came in 2nd place, and which ones came out in the middle and counted up the tally for each. So, VII ended up winning 8 rankings, but FFI came in last place in 5 rankings. Given there are 16 rankings, that means that, no, VII is not the winner of each ranking and neither is I the loser of each. 1st Place: VII - 8 VIII - 3 X - 2 XIV - 2 VI - 1 Last Place: XII - 6 I - 5 XIII - 2 XIV - 1 V - 1 II - 1 2nd Place: IV - 4 VII - 4 X - 3 XI - 2 IX - 2 XV - 1 Exactly in the Middle: XV - 4 IV - 3 XIII - 3 V - 2 II - 1 XIV - 1 III - 1 VIII - 1
You and I have A LOT of similarities in our lives my friend. I too am a musician. We played/beat these games at the same time. We stopped playing video games at the same time. Our bands took off around the same time. We got BACK into video games around the same time. Pretty cool.

@@gregtroyan Ya know what’s funny? VIII was the 2nd FF I played. IX was the first. I had an endless amount more fun with VIII’s system than IX’s. IX’s is great too though. What I don’t understand is why so many people don’t play the way I play: Level every character to max level when you find that good grinding spot. Get 100 of every item. Get 100 of every magic, Junction yourself to attack with the same element you absorb so you can heal yourself by attacking yourself. Go ham on every enemy in the game only using the attack command, and have a smile on your face the whole time. This is how I played it on my own when I was 10, this is how I played it after reading the strategy guide, this is how I would play it today, and this is how I pretty much play every FF or rpg game. I guess I’m a completionist? To me it just feels like the funnest way to play the game 🤷 am I crazy? Actually, that’s the funnest way and to my spirit, the only way to play each game in the series. Everything’s gotta be maxed out or I’m not “finishing” the game. Without Maxing out, it feels like there’s just more game to play, and why wouldn’t I play it.
@@dakotawinston7677 I'm not a "max out" person, but I did level to 99 in XI before beating the final boss of base XI, and then I plowed through the rest of the expansions. However, 99 isn't really "max level" in XI, it's the minimum for getting a lot of things done.
Normal FF fans think it's crazy one game would take you 6 months to play through main story. Old school XI fans think it's crazy to beat content that took them multiple years to complete could be done in half a year.
I totally agree on VII being the best. They managed to put both meaning and tragedy in an ending that isn't even particularly long (even though it was considered very long when it came out). XVI also deserves a good spot.
as a story-first player I really want to engage with the story of XI from start to finish, I did try private servers due to the ease of access but finding out they only had a couple expansions at most made me want to try retail - but the nightmare of dealing with playonline & other dated aspects makes it insurmountable for me to access without spending a considerable amount of time just troubleshooting it, getting set up & connected. It was just too much work ;-;
I recommend giving it another shot. Just watch the video from CallmeKwetch I linked in the description and download Windower and you should be good to go. It's worth it. It will take less time than you think if you get Windower and follow the video guide (5 minute video).

@@IggyMaid I'm really glad you're giving it another shot. Getting the game set up can be a bit annoying of trial and error, but it's a single day process. Once it's good to go, it's smooth sailing from then out, and for 1 day of setup you've got a game that will easily last you at least 6 months. It's worth it, or at least it was to me, and I hope it ends up being worth it for you as well. : )
