There aren't ANY Hebrew English bibles that use Yiddish. But if you are referring to the Hebrew (or Aramaic) letters, e.g. א, ב, ג, then no, I'm not aware of any Hebrew English bibles in print that don't use them.

The Meiji bible used the KJV as the source for the Old Testament, so that might be your bible if you are okay with the old-fashioned Japanese.

Thank god we have IME. Takes 5 to 10 seconds to draw an unknown character. Sometimes it is even possible to guess the reading from hints and select the right one without drawing. It takes many minutes to look these up in paper dictionary. That said Kodanasha looks useful for learners, as it contains example words with meanings, which (from what I can see) is all common vocabulary. That can be very valuable for learners. Kanjikai is dense, can't really see how it can be useful for non-native speakers. Even natives would rather use IME as it's faster.

I've got the 1914 edition of this from P. J. Kenedy & Sons, and it has the same pagination for the biblical text, though mine includes a short, 2-page article between Revelation and the chronological tables called "The Inspiration of the Bible." I've handled an original 1899 John Murphy Company edition before and it had some interesting misprints, which I noted at the time: On p. 6 of the OT, the last sentence of the Gen 1:26 footnote ("God speaketh here in the plural number, to insinuate the plurality of persons in the Deity.") is missing, and remains missing in my 1914 copy; on p. 14 of the OT, half of the footnote from Gen 9:25 is missing ("But why should Chanaan . . . this prophetical curse."), but it's restored in my 1914 copy; and in a particularly infamous example (dating back to the 1749 original Challoner, if I recall, and still common online, even in the BibleGateway text), on p. 51 of the NT, in Mark 8:6, the first sentence ("And he commanded the multitude to sit down upon the ground.") is completely missing, but it's restored in my 1914 copy. What's amazing is that they were able to retain the pagination perfectly, same first and last word on each page, despite having to squeeze that sentence back into the text, and without any extra lines or anything. In the two footnote examples I noted, there's just blank white space in the missing parts. As for the maps, my 1914 edition has the same maps TAN kept, but mine are in color, as you guessed; it has the black-and-white engravings, but spread out across the Bible; and it has headers on the left and right of the book titles on top of each page, moving the page number to the bottom center.

From about the second half of the first grade all elementary school students in Japan are required to get both a Kanji dictionary (Chinese Character dictionary) and a Kokugo dictionary (Japanese language dictionary/national language dictionary) which they use through their elementary school life. In Junior High School they aquire a different set of dictionaries, and then in High School most for a denshi jisho (a device that has a bunch of dictionaries in it). In Daily life I think most Adult use their smart phones these days and look at a website like Weblio. My wife still uses a paper dictionary sometimes.

@nickpatella1525 3 месяца назад
Both of these dictionaries are also available as apps, which are much quicker to search. Monokakido's app for iPhone has both Kanjikai and Shinmeikai. For Android, I don't see anything for Kanjikai, but LogoVista has an app for Shinmeikai. Ah, it looks like an app called Donguri may have the digital rights to it on Android, but they use a subscription model which is unfortunate. Oubunsha also has good kokugo and kanji dictionaries for Android.

I first found out about this bible around 6 months ago from stumbling across a R Grant Jones detailed review of it.. in which he gives every dimension on everything... and I was astonished.. that I never heard of this bible... I have been saved for many years.. and have quite a few bibles.. but I never could find an ASV study bible... to say the least I was intrigued... I immediately scrambled searching places such as E-bay trying to find one of these for sale.... after about a month I came across two that were available... I .....like you... had to do some spine repair... my spine was not quite so unattached as the one you are showing...but never the less.. it was coming away from the spine in several places... I did pretty much what you did.. since mine is Black ... I bought some black cloth tape... and some glue... and got to work.. saving as much of the original spine as I could... I really love this bible.. it is much easier to read than my other ASV's...and I love the detailed lists and notes in the commentary... I also downloaded the missing sheets of introduction that were missing from this bible.. when the MONSER cross reference ASV bible was released around 1910...these notes of introduction were complete.... sadly when logos.. reprinted.. the preface... and Introduction .. they left some gaps in this 1972 edition.. why I do not know...I found about.. 7 - 8 more pages of material.. that was part of the original.. text to this from 1910... as a pdf file on internet archive.. and printed them off.. so as to have the complete introductory notes if you did not know about this.. please watch R. Grant Jones review of this bible.. and he shares this at the end of his video.. great video by the way... I appreciate the fact someone else has a copy of this marvelous rare bible.. and I am glad I found one..

In Ecclesiastical Latin yes, though not so sure it would be quite the same in Classical Latin. Though I think an important caveat is that when we refer to this in English (as is done in this video), we are calling it by the English word vulgate, as it was adopted into and pronounced in this language rather than its Latin name.
