I did find a machete once over by the Pacific third locks excavation (everyone thought it was an abandoned French Cut). I still have it - it has a nice carved bone handle.
Awesome that you were able to enjoy this nice cool.weather we are having lately. I loved hearing the sounds of the creek and the opening shot of that tree with the burl was cool too.
Inland from the Pacific side, on the west bank before Contractor's Hill. There is some debate - some insist that it was taken out with a canal widening project. There is a photo floating around that shows that it is still there. I can't vouch for its authenticity.
@@BudTristano between contractor hill and the current centenario bridge? I tried looking on google maps but nothing that would suggest something like that.
@@senpera Try this, although it is past Contractor's Hill - zoom in on "La Pita" and then check out the satellite photo. @@senpera someone more knowledgeable than I has suggested that what you see on that google map is another slide further north, and that the one in my video was demolished when they were making room for the new locks.
In regards to the NCT alerts, earlier this year the resivoir water levels were very high. coupled with heavy rains, both Johnnycake and Tracy Run were impassible, would like to see some videos because the water levels were very high. When I went through Johnnycake was just thigh high from bank to bank, so I can't imagine what it was like.
I am enjoying your content. Keep up the good work! I’m working in Ice Age Trail sections this week. My videos on Kungsleden planning and hiking are now on RU-vid! Kings Trail / Kungsleden ru-vid.com/group/PLZagpVwkLMBSvrJq1AHrRoA5HQqrE92vy
Good video, planning on doing an out and back next year from the 321 parking lot to Hammond Run. Very short hike, but nice to know what to expect. Came out at Nelse Run/321 in '21, camped overnight there and when I signed the logbook there was an entry about a nuisance bear just the night before, made for a little excitement after the fact. Gotta love camping at Kinzua!
I appreciate your comment. Just this last year did I find an editing style that suits this purpose. It developed from using old computers and cameras! I myself am trying to figure how to day hike the 10 mile section - two five milers in and out. I may skip to the short NY State border crossing at the end before I tackle the Tracy Ridge section.
I think I saw your car driving to this location! . The one path looked like the one behind your house. What was that kind a square thing at the 2:20 minute mark?
If you were on RT 66 you would have seen me. It looks like a natural rock that was chiseled into a cornerstone. It was at the intersection of two logging/well roads.
I agree. The cheap shoes are just that. I used to like Redwing but the last pair I bought was very disappointing. 😿. Wolverine used to be good too. They used to make a pigskin boot that really breathed well but you couldn't wear them in wet grass without getting your feet soaking wet. 😿
That's pretty darn good for shoes anymore - they just don't make good shoes anymore in my opinion. I need to get a pair soon as my toe is getting ready to poke through. 😼
Another good video, after 33 years, I can't get over how well marked tha road crossings are. Back then I had to use a copy of a USGA Topo map to figure out where I was, would like to do it again with all todays equipment, but at 66 I don't think my knees would like it. LOL!
