I make videos of things that I like and for organizations that I am associated with. Cars, Planes, Colorado Railroad Museum, Vintage Radios, Travel, History, etc.
I appreciate all that have subscribed and honored that I have so many views.
Sadly the AOD is getting long in the tooth. Only way I know to get a good core is wreck out a driving car. Most people just bypass them now days for 4R70 or gear vendors. All the hassles you had make an 800 dollar shift controller and tps seem OK.
I don't know if there is a mod kit for the 4R70 for the 292 engine. I'm not an expert on this stuff, but after all of this that I went through, I might qualify.
We were gone from there by June 3 1968. Did you ever hear about the attack on March 10th 1968 when a LST load of ammo was hit by a RPG and the whole mess exploded?
To the best of my knowledge, An LST had unloaded on the south side of the river and an RPG was fired from the north side and it hit the ammo and there was a gigantic explosion. There were likely more than one explosions, but I don't remember all of the details. The hole in the ground was about 15' - 20' deep and very wide. I was a few hundred yards away at the C-Battery (1/11) site. It rained steel on us for a while. One of our guns was going to be sent in for major maintenance. It was near the explosion and it and the truck attached to it were destroyed. I don't remember how many people got hurt, but I did hear that one guy was killed. I was a radio operator for the artillery. It was common for LST's to deliver to this area. I, along with a few others, always volunteered to go help load up what ever supplies that came in for us. I knew exactly where the mess was on the LST. Much to the Navy's credit, they always gave us Marines a great meal when we busted in to their small facility. It was also a great opportunity to pilfer extra food as the loading was in progress. We did have a crude mess hall, but it was dangerous to go there. The NVA used to shell the compound at meal times. I remember once being in line for grub when we started to get incoming. I could tell from the sound that it was not real close. Many of the people in the line jumped into bunkers near the mess tent. Some of us just moved up in line, it got real short.
@@ROKuberskiOK, now I know what you are referring to. I thought you were referring to a Mike boat incident in which several sailors were killed and one became MIA. That was a fuel bladder on the boat was hit and exploded. You are referring to what I was always told an explosion in the ammo on the Marine side of Cua Viet. I was not there for that but again I was told of the incident. The LST was not actually hit to my knowledge, this happened after it was unloaded. Is this correct? Also, Welcome Home Brother.
Yes, you got it. I don't believe that the LST was damaged unless some shrapnel fell on it from the explosion. Actually, I don't know if the ship was still there at the time of the explosion. The Ammo was unloaded on the south side of the river and there was a lot of junk in the air after the explosion. EOD was all over the place picking up unexploded shells that had been thrown quite a distance. I'm not aware of the Mike boat incident. As a friend of mine once said "About all I know about this place is what I see looking down the sights on my rifle."
Thank you! My 2013 broke with the weight of my Saint Bernard. Super upsetting when their commercial for this exact vehicle showed a Saint Bernard in the back.
That’s a lot like the one my dad had when I was a kid. Ours was a ‘53 356 cabriolet originally in yellow, though I only remember it in primer. Not a lot of those around. We were supposed to restore it but it was stolen from our house that had just burned down in 1989. We never got it back and I’ve always wondered where it ended up.
Wow, what a loss for you guys. My friend had this car in his garage for very long time and when someone wanted to buy it, that's when he did some research and found out that it was worth a lot of money. It cost him quite a bit to have it restored, but he got it all back and a lot more.
Outstanding! I have wrestling with the F3 letters on my Nikon smudged model paint. I'm gonna give your method a shot. Perhaps I'll hit my old manual lenses as well. Thanks Richard.
As I mentioned in the video there are harder ways to do this. As long is there is a groove for the paint, it is a snap. I'm sure you will like the result, it's an easy process.
Like you, I never even imagined that this would break. I've been crawling over mine many times in my '16 Ex. Won't be doing that anymore. Good to know it's easily fixed though. Great vid sir 🫡
I was there Golf Co 2/9 68-69 we were at the beach for awhile. Also was on the Valley Forge for 3 days after I was wounded. Head wound wouldn't heal right cause of the jungle rot. Question how'd you swing two R&R's unless you reupped for an extension
You guessed it. I did a 6-month extension. I found out that if I returned to the U.S. with less than 150 days left in my enlistment they would turn me loose. If I went home on my rotation date, I would have had about 11 months to serve. ME, I WANTED OUT! I was feeling cocky, they hadn't killed me in the first 13 months, so I felt my chances were pretty good for another 6-months. I was in a good unit and when I extended I was sure to be promoted to Sgt. in a few months. By the time I left we were over strength in our unit. The last month or so, I had so many men in the communications section that about all I had to do was figure out who was to stand the watches. However, like so many of us, I was good as what I was doing and I liked to be in the FDC during big (or multiple) fire missions. As we all know, everyone had a different experience. I was not an 0311 (grunt) but rather a 2533 (radio telegraph operator - but never worked as a telegraph operator.) Radio communications was, or at least felt to me to be, less dangerous than what some others were experiencing. I was still in the shit, but only up to my knees, not up to my eyebrows. I left the U.S. on a Continental Airlines charter from Travis A.F.B on the 6th of December, 1967 and returned to MCAS El Toro on August 15, 1969, about 618 days, less two R&R's and a 30 day leave home before I started the extension. When I get to be in charge of the world, every young person in the country will do some kind of national service. Military, Peace Corps, etc, male and female. In my generation there are a HUGE numbers of vets, now, not so many.
I believe it will, but the numbers must be engraved into the plastic. I would also use a piece of unpainted wood to start rubbing the lacquer stick. It needs the heat of friction to soften the paint. The plastic may be too smooth to generate heat through rubbing.
Omg! I Love You ❤😊 Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This made me want to Throw Up when my car was broken 😢 My friend u put my Pieces of my LIFE back together 😅😊
I'm afraid that this is not something that I know. First off, is there an adapter for this? Seems that there is. transmissioncenter.net/shop/adapter-to-install-an-aod-overdrive-transmission-on-a-460-big-block-ford-motor/ Do a search on the internet about this conversion. There is other information out there. There are kits to beef up the transmission and you may need to do that with the larger engine.
@@ROKuberski from what i found the transmission followed two paths, the AOD for the cars and the 4something or other for trucks, those trucks being 460 equipped, so i guess that answers my question.
You know I am biased, but, I really believe that the 1957 Ford has a much more distinctive styling than the Chevy. It outsold the Chevy, but the Chevy has a big fan base now. This is not a forum for which is the best, that's best done over a campfire with a beer.
Glad it helped. When I did this video I figured that it might be a common problem with a simple fix. I am very happy that it has helped so many people.
Hello my friend, I put a mechanical temp sensor into the stock location under the throttle bracket. Then I got a dorman heater tee adapter that in installed the oem sensor in. Would be better for your efi to get the temp sensor from the stock location for the most accurate temps.
If there was a way to amend this video, I would show how I am now connected. The temp sensor is directly into the water jacket on the intake manifold at the heater line connection. The tee that I show in the video is gone. I made an adapter to allow the heater connection to be on a 1" filler piece that is installed between the t-stat housing and the intake manifold. This allows the heater line to be on the correct side of the t-stat. The efi system is working just fine and the heater is working fine.
Thanks a lot, worked great for me and the kit had enough material to cover both doors failing points, so i fixed the broken one and reinforced the other one that was starting to warp a little bit even while it wasn't fractured yet.
Anyone know the part number for this on a 2017 flex limited I cant seem to find it and don't want to go to a dealership and just order online ? Thank you for the help.
Richard for president! Thanks for the video Richard. My kids, as toddlers, broke mine and it’s been bugging me for years. I’m going to get this done this summer.
Yeah not sure what they were thinking when it was being designed, how i broke mine was something got caught on the 3rd row flap and i didn’t realized when i was pulling it from the back of the truck it just pulled it up and cracked it, i believe it should have had a flap that made like a bridge and over lapped the second row so there wouldn’t be a gap
A friend of mine had his parents' chairside Zenith from 1952 which had the brand new Cobra-Matic changer where you set the record size and the speed was infinitely variable from about 13 to 81 RPM. I always loved that Cobra tone arm with its beady little eyes! For awhile several years ago, I had a two Cobra Zenith, one green and the other red, but could never get it to work properly, so sold it.
Unless there is physical damage to parts or the motor has failed, these things are usually repairable. However, this is one of two totally original Zenith chairside radios that I have that work just fine. I also have a third that I totally restored, there is a video of that on this channel.
She was in very, very rough shape when she left and was in good mechanical condition when she came back for the rest of the cosmetic part of the restoration. As rough as she was when she left (dent in the boiler, 8 or so old breaks in the frame that were weld repaired back in the day (not done very well), 1 side frame being shorter than the other, being out of tram, way too much lateral on some of the drivers), that is the way she was retired so that means she did run in that very rough shape.
